'Spiderman II' logos. But there was backlash from fans and whatnot, now they're not going to. What do you think about advertising on the bases or field, or fences..

Me say why the hell not?

I did notice those computerized logos on a game last night, it was for showing how far the runner on first was leading off. I thought, "hey, that would be a cool way to advertise" (they do this in soccer.)

Ok, you say your piece now.

Advertising costs a sh** load of money. I'm already paying a sh** load of money for Yankee tickets. Those ticket prices will go up if they put advertising on the field. So no way do I want this.

I really dont care..people complain about too much advertising and stuff..I dunno it doenst really bother me.

Unless it went completely overboard and everything was an ad. I just dont like how Stadiums dont have names anymore..I think that is kinda stupid. I wish they could just do like "Jackie Robinson Stadium sponsored by Coke" or something like that for a compromise

:?:

Businesses pay money to advertise...if anything it makes the club more money which allows lower ticket prices

Advertising gives teams another source of revenue; it would, if anything drops prices. But I wouldn't count on it. But to suggest advertising would raise prices is bizarre.

Oh sh**, sorry guys, I looked at it in a different way. Well still, I don't want crap on Yankee Stadium walls.

Would you actually be able to see adverts on the bases?

Those computerized things that the players can't see on the field are cool. Like what you were saying about showing how far the runner was leading off. I like those things a lot.

Yeah they do that with the football scores, very cool indeed.

But if your in the nosebleed section there is no way you'll be able to see that, or near the front for that matter. Would be just a waste of time and money if you ask me :-\

It's not really something people were expected to see, more marketing, knowing oit's there, ect ect.

They were going to have that (or a similar) logo on the on deck positiong and the pitching rubber (i think)

It was actually teams/players who were upset about the Logo's that helped get it shut down.

the Pres of the Red Sox was saying back in 1999 when he was w/ SD they played a game in Mexico and they had Ads in the coaches boxes, so he comes back and says "Great idea to increase revenue" and the league said "No, we don't touch the field"... So he was suprised when they agreed to this.

That being said, people who talk about Ads on the walls and stuff, look at old Photo's of Fenway park and/or Yankee stadium, the walls were covered w/ Ads.

I say, if it will help keep a winning team on the field, Go for it. But at the team level, not a league level.

I dunno, I don't like the idea of them on the bases... It would be like if they turned a hockey net into a huge logo or something :-\

Well Cheebs, there are ads on the boards and ice already. Not to mention the names of the stadiums.

Soccer and International hockey have company logos on their uniforms for crying out loud, now that's too far IMO.

On the bases is kinda stupid IMO. Maybe on the stands under the seats (if they don't have that already, I haven't watched a baseball game in forever)

Still though, it's annoying enough as is with everything being advertised to high hell. Though it will never go away, at least let the game keep SOME integrity...

I see no problem with it. To me it's no different than an ad on the outfield wall. As long as the player's aren't allowed to wear ad's. I've seen boxer's who have ads drawn on their backs to promote certain venues and stuff. I beleive that crosses the line in team sports, and i would not want to see that in baseball, football, basketball etc... etc...

Atlanta Braves have since like 1995 or 1996 with Turner field been involved with a ton of advertising, and it hasn't ever really bothered me. In turn for the amount of Coke advertising they issue, we get a really nice stadium in return. And having the fireworks shoot out of the Coke bottle has become like the New York Apple to us. It hasnt' ever really bothered me.

But then again, Coke is based in Hotlanta...

Yeah stuff like that is cool. That's kinda why I like Ford Field in Detroit. Sure, it's advertising, but everybody knows about Henry Ford, and Detroit's like the "motor city" and all, so at least it's kinda fitting.
