Im just watching Smackdown from this week, and to be honest i havent watched Smackdown for a long long time but it made me think, with all the catch up from the previous Raw and the From the Vault matches, what does Smackdown have to offer as a stand alone apart from the very few matches that are on the show? Seems to me like a catch up show with a few bits to keep people from turning over. What are your thoughts on Smackdown and has it been like this format for a while now?

I can't comment because I haven't really watched it since Benoit was alive, nor could I tell you what channel Scyfy is on my DirecTV.

Was wondering the same thing actually. This weeks Smackdown had the CM Punk/Lawler stuff, highlights of Triple H's promo and the Daniel Bryan/Kane segments. Take away commercial breaks, and that was probably about 1/3 of Smackdown right there.

Ziggler vs Orton was a good match. I did enjoy that one.
For the record, that vertical suplex/spinning neck breaker move Cody used on Mysterio was the shit! He needs to use that more often if he's able.

Been like that since maybe after Heyman's era as the GM.
I guess the special attraction for Smackdown is seeing potential future stars getting built up who then later become the big stars on RAW (ex. Del Rio, Punk, Bryan).

It's the WWE's version of WCW Saturday Night!

I've always watched Smackdown, and 2006-2007 for me it was the better show, but the last few episodes especially it has been full of recaps, and the dreaded from the vault filler on occasion.
It still serves a purpose though, for guys who aren't quite live TV ready to develop.

Smackdown is nowhere near the level it was back with Heyman, Lesnar, and Eddie. I've continued to watch out of habit, and ryback before he moved to RAW. It's ok if you want something to kill time on a Friday night, or to DVR and watch over the weekend, but it hasn't been meaningful for quite sometime.
Although, as lackluster as it has been, it serves it's purposes as a starter show like Tommy said.

Smackdown is pretty crappy now. I used to video tape it but now I don't even bother doing that anymore. They should cancel smackdown and make Raw five hours. That would be awesomely serious business.

Smackdown's pretty pointless now. By the time I've fast forwarded all the Raw recaps and commercial breaks I am finished watching it in an hour. It picked up a little bit for like 2 weeks when Booker became GM but now it just seems to be back to its dull, monotonous status. 3 hours of Raw is enough WWE in a week for me these days.
