The only bright side I can come up with is Baltimore was probably the best chance at beating NE out of the AFC. I wish Houston well, but it's going to take a monster defense to stop the Pats. Denver's secondary doesn't cover the middle of the field and that's where Brady puts it 95% of the time, so I don't think they had much of a shot anyway.

Its going to come out that Manning was hurt. He didn't throw a pass for more than 10 or 15 yards the 4th qtr and ot..the passes he did make were short and didn't have much on them. Probably why they didn't try for anything with 2 to's and 30 seconds..he couldn't make deep enough passes to come close to fg range

Can't help it. I've just never liked the Pats. Also if Brady wins his 4th ring to go along with 6 SB trips and making the playoffs nearly every year it pretty much eliminates any debate of whether or not he's the GOAT. Plus he's probably got at least 5 more seasons in him (he's made it clear he wants to play into his 40's) so he could always add on to that total.
That being said it'd be funny if the Giants end up being the only team that can stop Brady in the SB during his career.
In either event we're probably guaranteed to have either 2 weeks of Brady/Belichick GOAT hype or 2 weeks of Ray Lewis' last game hype. I just have zero faith in the Texans making it past the Pats, much less getting to the SB.

I got a bit carried away with "undeserved" but it is pretty mind boggling how awful the Falcons are in the playoffs. Falcons fans always wonder why they dont get respect and its this constant whining. This is why. They can't hold a lead, their QB freezes up whenever there is even a small amount of pressure, and their team overall is just really bad when they have the spotlight on them. Some teams are good in the playoffs and the Falcons just arent one of them. There is all this talk and all this hype surrounding them and they never win in the playoffs. Their first win in the playoffs was today and they won because the Seahawks called a timeout at the wrong time. A win is a win, but IMO this doesn't erase the stigma of them being a bad playoff team. Them blowing that lead today is kind of just a metaphor for their team as a whole.

At home
Facing a rookie QB
Tons of playoff experience for Atlanta
Like a 20 point lead going into the half
They are just a bad playoff team. They got a break today that spared them some embarrassment but they are not looking good at all going up against a Niners team that just stomped the Packers. If the Falcons convincingly best the 9ers I'll show some respect, but as of right now they just look so awful for such a high seed.

Personal opinion: if you're in the playoffs, especially in the 2nd round, you're playing football against the very best. As long as you win that's all that matters. It's not like Atlanta just let Seattle come back. Seattle is a really good team playing it's ass off.

Brady managed to break or tie 2 more of Montana's records. Broke most playoff wins and tied most conference title games.
Needs another ring and 5 more playoff TDs to tie probably the last 2 big playoff records Montana has left for comparison. Montana has a few smaller playoff records that are almost untouchable for Brady.
BB himself needs 1 more ring (record is 4) and 3 more playoff wins (18 now, Landry has 20 while Shula has 19) to tie or break the big playoff records for head coaches.

Sports writers and analysts piss me off. I guess they're chafed from riding the Seahawks jock, so now Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers are the most dangerous team in the playoffs. So after Atlanta knocks off Seattle and exposes them as overrated, it's going to be 49ers bullshit all next week.

Pretty confident the 9ers are the better team but this isn't going to be a walk in the park by any means. We could always lay an egg so everybody needs to keep on their toes. Really think the front 7 is going to be too much for Matt Ryan though. Matt Ryan can be a threat in the air but we just smashed a team in the playoffs with a swag pass offense and a better QB. Falcons are going to have a rough time mixing up their offense I think because our run defense is so solid. Also, Falcons have a tendency to choke so let's hope that plays out nicely.

There were some wonky fumbles early on because of the rain/snow mix. You eliminate all of those conditions when playing in the SuperDome. Coming back from those early miscues was a good sign for the Pats. They'd be in the same place they'd be whether they won that game or not now: an AFC Championship at home.
Not looking past the Ravens though. Nobody should make that mistake. Pre-game CBS was like stroking Denver to almost completion. Should be a hell of a game for the AFC Championship.

I just read the 2011 thread for the game last year. Depressing even without being able to see the game.
I also saw where I sent a tweet to Ben Maller who ripped me on the air for it. He was ripping Flacco again this morning because it annoys him that Flacco has played well and he doesnt think he should be. I understand that a lot of people have an opinion of Joe Flacco based on his first couple of years as a QB, especially in the playoffs and especially that 4/10 for 34 yard win vs New England in the 2010 playoffs. The biggest difference is definitely that they have Torrey Smith who is capable of being the deep down field threat, prior to last year they had no WRs who were capable of being the deep threat. In his first 3 years Flacco was tied to throwing to Mason and Heap short passes more often than not and any time he did throw the ball deep they never caught it. No Deep threat WR = take away Flacco's #1 asset which his his strong arm. He has numerous 40+ yard passes this postseason alone and had a couple in the week 3 matchup towards passing for 380 yards. In his last 3 playoff games he's thrown for 919 yards 7 TDs and just 1 int. Thats not Drew Brees level stats but its also not worst QB in the world ever either, and if he keeps doing it, especially in adverse conditions on the road, I hope that people will finally stop treating him like he's this horrific QB when clearly he's improved dramatically over the last two seasons.
I am 100% calling Ben Maller late saturday night/early sunday morning and letting him have it and I'll post the podcast link here later on before the game.
Also, happy early Birthday to Joe Flacco, hes 28 on Wednesday.
