Out of boredom, here's a list of potential 2013 NFL Kickoff games:
Ravens 2013 home games: Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, New England, N.Y. Jets, Green Bay, Minnesota, Houston
49ers 2013 home games: Arizona, St. Louis, Seattle, Atlanta, Carolina, Houston, Indianapolis, Green Bay
Seems like the only realistic options would be Pittsburgh, New England, or Green Bay for Baltimore. Seattle, Atlanta, or Green Bay for San Francisco. Either way some pretty great choices.

Ravens vs Patriots or Packers are two logical choices. One of the Steelers games would already be on snf anyway. I'd kinda like to see the Packers to be honest, that'd be a great game.

Ravens were the first team since 1970 to win back to back games as greater than a td underdogs in the playoffs and they're currently sitting at +5.5 vs the 49ers.
Pre season odds for SF/bal super bowl was 62:1

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) -- Tom Brady's foot-up slide in the AFC championship game did not sit well with Baltimore Ravens strong safety Bernard Pollard.
During the final minute of the first half, Brady slid to the ground to end of an impromptu run. The quarterback's upraised leg hit onrushing Ravens free safety Ed Reed, who emerged from the play without injury.
But Pollard believes Brady should be disciplined by the NFL, which levies fines on defensive players for helmet-to-helmet hits.
Pollard said Monday, ''If you want to keep this going in the right direction, everyone should be penalized for their actions.''
He said Brady ''knew what he was doing. It has to go both ways. Hopefully the NFL will do something about it. If they don't, that's fine. If they do, then that's fine.''

Droford, you are easily the most obnoxious sports fan I have ever encountered in my life. It has nothing to do with your pants. It's the way you talk about your team, the way you talk about other teams, the way you talk about the game, and the way you talk to other people.
Have you honestly not noticed that everyone (this is not hyperbole, literally EVERYONE) who posts in here is annoyed by you? Do you honestly not understand why we all put you on ignore during last year's playoffs. It's not to tease you, it's not fun little smack talk between football fans. It's because you are incredibly irritating. You are the most aggravating sports fan ever.
And the fact that you're completely oblivious to this very clear and visible fact indicates that either A) you are so sheltered from the world because you're a shut in that you just don't comprehend human interaction, or B) you don't see your behavior as a problem because everyone around you acts the same way you do.
Personally I believe it is a combination of the two. And that's why Baltimore fans are the worst.

ME EITHER! I hate the fucking kid to be honest. Dalton is the best of the second teir when it comes to this new crop of Quarterbacks. He throws too many interceptions for my liking.

Get Dalton another good receiver, aj green has a star year and there's no reason he shouldn't improve drastically. Essentially what happened with flacco..early he had old out curl route Derrick mason, Mr glass Todd heap and a bunch of scrap heap guys beyond that..they got boldin, dumped heap and mason, then they drafted pitta who i primed to be a great te and torrey smith who will have his 3rd year Breakout like most stud wrs do..
The Bengals don't really have much at war beyond green..solid te though...which is why I say 1 we away..

Denver pretty much has to regress next year..I don't think they'll regret getting Manning, because I think he'll still have at least one more good year, but I think the defense you saw in the playoffs is more like the defense you'll see in 2013. I don't know the contract status w/ mcgahee but they'll have to make a decision between him and hillman, as much as I like mcgahee he's too injury prone and hillman looked really good vs the Ravens..
Broncos biggest problem is out of their control, and that is the whole AFC west should end up improving...maybe not Oakland..but the coaching changes in kc and SD should have them better than the doormats they've been.

Saints fired defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.
Ed Reed denied rumors of him retiring saying he's returning next year although possibly for a new team considering the cap problems the Ravens would be facing this offseason.

A number of Patriots fans tweeted some disparaging remarks to Torrey Smith about his late brother following the AFC Championship Game, according to the Ravens wide receiver. Tevin Smith, Torrey's younger brother, was killed in a motorcycle accident in September.
"Played a lot of games since my brothers death and I never received as many rude tweets after a win than Sunday...yet NE fans cry about class," Smith tweeted Tuesday.
I understand how fans can take losses personally. But they can't make it personal. This is the perfect example of social media gone bad. I applaud Smith for handling it the right way because many athletes wouldn't.
The sad part is this isn't the first time Smith has had to deal with this. Shortly after Smith helped the Ravens beat the Patriots in September, only hours after his brother had died, someone taunted him on Twitter, saying, "Hey, Smith, how about you call your bro and tell him about your wi--- ohhhh. Wait. #TooSoon?"

Gore was also a repeat offender which is why his fine was pretty high. Think he was also warned a few other times as well although not sure if they were all during this season.
Brady has done some pretty ugly looking slides in the past but him sticking out the leg was a pretty stupid move considering the potential for him getting hurt had Reed not moved or causing Reed to land on him because of it (came close to landing on his shoulder/arm).

Does the NFL watch much high school or college football? Nobody wears fucking knee-highs anymore.
The NFL is a Brand. They've got officials on the sidelines that police everything from socks being pulled up to ensuring that shirts are tucked in or atleast touching the top of the pants. They ensure that team specific cleats/gloves/towels/chinstraps/etc are used by each dressed player on each sideline. There is a tally of uniform violations and minor fines(usally ranging from 100-500 dollars IIRC) that is levied apon each violator.
The Uniform police is serious business.
High School and Colleges don't have the same strict marketing and uniform guidelines as the NFL

Ravens: Ray Lewis denies PED use
Ray Lewis was given a product to help heal his torn triceps that contains a banned substance, according to a Sports Illustrated report that will appear on newsstands Feb. 4. The Baltimore Ravens linebacker has not tested positive and denies using it, a team official told ESPN's Sal Paolantonio.
Mitch Ross, a co-owner of Sports with Alternatives to Steroids (SWATS), told Sports Illustrated that he spoke to Lewis shortly after the linebacker tore his triceps on Oct. 14 and he requested products that could help speed up his recovery. Deer-antler spray was among the prescribed treatments. Deer-antler spray contains a substance (IGF-1) on the NFL's banned list.
SWATS is the subject of an in-depth profile in Sports Illustrated's next issue. A version of the story was also posted on SI.com.
Lewis dismissed the report when he was asked about it at Super Bowl media day in New Orleans on Tuesday.
"Two years ago, it was the same report. I wouldn't give that report or him any of my press. He's not worthy of that. Next question," Lewis said.
He also said he doesn't want to give the company any publicity and questioned why he should respond to such "stupidity."
"Ray has been randomly tested for banned substances and has never failed a test. We have never been notified of a failed test. He has never been notified of a failed test," Kevin Byrne, vice president of communications for the Ravens, told ESPN.
The Ravens had a meeting with Lewis on Tuesday morning to discuss the article.
"He denied using the substance discussed in the article and we believe him," Byrne told ESPN.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said he has not talked to Lewis about the report.
"Ray has worked incredibly hard to get back. I would hate to see anything diminish that," he said. "My understanding is that he's passed every random substance test that he's taken throughout his career."
Sports Illustrated reported in its story a pitch made by Christopher Key, the other half of the two-man company, to Alabama players in the week before they played LSU in the 2012 BCS National Championship Game.
He is quoted as explaining the benefits of the spray to the players.
"You're familiar with HGH, correct? It's converted in the liver to IGF-1," Key explained, according to the Sports Illustrated report. "IGF-1, or -insulin-like growth factor, is a natural, anabolic hormone that stimulates muscle growth. We have deer that we harvest out of New Zealand. Their antlers are the fastest-growing substance on planet Earth ... because of the high concentration of IGF-1.
"We've been able to freeze dry that out, extract it, put it in a sublingual spray that you shake for 20 seconds and then spray three [times] under your tongue. ... This stuff has been around for almost 1,000 years, this is stuff from the Chinese," Key said, the magazine reported.

Kaepernick has had 2 games in which he's thrown for less than 200 yards and in both of those games he rushed for over 50 yards. Also, he's thrown only 3 INTS during the regular season, and 1 in the playoffs. The guy is a monster and an efficient one at that. When people do the "just take his lane away and then the game is over" thing, I think they're trying to convince themselves more than anyone else.

I watched the falcons game and I know with absolute certainty that if he has to pass a lot the ravens defense in the secondary is stronger than the falcons and will get picks.
The ravens are in trouble if the 49ers run the ball. The colts piled up rush yards early before they got behind and had to pass..the broncos run game went with Moreno going out, and the pats never made a strong commitment to the run either

I don't know how the 9ers are going to approach this but it's good to know that we have a few options on offense. I don't think they'll hold back on the option much, but I think they may establish a bit of a pass game first. The option works best when nobody is really expecting it or when the offense has time to feel out the defense first. At this point, the cat is kind of "out of the bag" on the option offense, but it can still work when used correctly and at the right time. It's a bit risky as far as safety goes I suppose, but as of right now, we have the best backup QB in the league, so I see no reason to hold back. Both teams are gonna go guns a blazing, pretty excited.

He's going to have so much pressure from our front 7, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets rushed into a bad throw. Especially when you consider some of these crazy throws to Torrey Smith and Anquan Bolden that have been paying off lately. It will only take one of those crazy throws to go wrong to potentially shift the game in our favor.
This is going to turn into a "my team is better than your team" debate and that I don't want. Both teams have the potential to beat each other. It'll be a good game.

I want to see a game more in the style of the Thanksgiving game..but little chance of them sacking kaepernick 9 times like they did smith in that game
That will be much harder against Kaep. And penalties won you that game more than anything else.

Yes. The nine sacks did help. And so did the TD they took away from Ginn for a chop block that didn't happen.
Also, Art Model is a sack of shit that swindled a pretty legendary sports fan base out of their NFL team. If he goes into the HOF, Cleveland is setting NFL HQ on fire.

If I do decide to toss a last minute wager on it, then I'll try to catch some of it, but as of now I'll probably just watch the highlights as Chris Berman butchers them.

Hate to say it, but I'm pretty excited for this one. 49ers take it 24 - 17, although I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up a blowout. Nothing to back that claim up and I hope not for the sake of the game, it's just a feeling I've had lately.

During an hour-long interview outside the Super Bowl media center on Friday, Ross dodged questions requesting specific contact with Lewis as reported by Sports Illustrated earlier this week.
"I never saw Ray put it in his mouth," Ross said. "I want to apologize to any athletes that this story hurt. It was my intention to shine a light on the technologies that are light years ahead of what people can understand. I had no control of when the story runs. I'm trying to make right the wrong with Ray Lewis.
"Ray Lewis is a great man. Hue Jackson is a hero for starting to work with me in 2008. I am here to tell you natural IGF-1 rebuilds brain tissue. I did not walk in the Ravens' door with deer spray. I walked in with chips."
Lewis has vehemently denied the report he used the spray, which includes the substance IGF-1, which is banned by the NFL.
Ross said he provided a recovery protocol for Lewis following his injury in October against the Dallas Cowboys that required surgery. Ross also said that he provided products to aid Lewis' recovery from a hamstring injury in 2009 and a toe injury in 2011. "Ray was right about one thing," Ross said. "This whole story, this whole slander, was the tactics of the devil."
Meanwhile, Ross said during the playoffs the Ravens, including reserve safety James Ihedigbo, used performance chips, which aren't banned. "The chips were used by Baltimore against Denver and the Patriots, and I have text messages in my phone to prove it from James Ihedigbo," Ross said. "I sent 600 of them within a two-week period. And I have mailing slips from FedEx."
However, Ross declined to reveal the text messages.
Former Ravens quarterbacks coach Hue Jackson issued a lengthy apology to the Ravens organization, including Lewis, in a telephone interview with The Baltimore Sun, for ever introducing Ross to Lewis and other players. Ross said he first met Lewis in 2008 when he says he gave Jackson the performance chips.
Ross said he also worked with former Ravens players Jamal Lewis, Willis McGahee, LeRon McClain and a few others. Name-dropping multiple high-profile athletes, Ross said he has worked with Johnny Damon, Vijay Singh, Terrell Owens and Brett Favre. "The NFL told those players to disassociate themselves from me," Ross said. "Ray Lewis was one of them."
Former St. Louis Rams linebacker David Vobora successfully sued Ross for $5.4 million for providing a supplement that caused him to violate the NFL's performance enhancing drug policy. Vobora was never paid, though. When Ross was asked why he didn't show up for court, he replied: "I was dead broke." Ross claimed that what he gave to Vobora through former Ravens special teams player Gary Stills was tainted by an unnamed individual after it left his custody.
Ross denied using the opportunity of the Super Bowl to get publicity for his company, saying: "I didn't use Ray Lewis."
Ross did say he sent Lewis a text message this week.
"Ray did not text me," he said. "I texted him and said, 'God bless." Ray has not texted me recently."
Put that story to bed

49ers' Ahmad Brooks, Isaac Sopoaga can't recall LGBT anti-bullying video
By John Breech | CBSSports.com
January 31, 2013 6:10 pm ET

When San Francisco cornerback Chris Culliver (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/1273272/chris-culliver) said he would not welcome a gay teammate (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/nfl-rapidreports/21624342/49ers-chris-culliver-openly-gay-player-not-welcome) on Tuesday -- remarks he later apologized for -- the 49ers (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/page/SF/san-francisco-49ers) were quick to distance themselves from Culliver's comments.
The 49ers had reason to act quickly because in August, San Francisco became the first NFL team to openly support a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender anti-bullying campaign known as the "It Gets Better Project (http://www.itgetsbetter.org/)."
Four 49ers players -- including Donte Whitner (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/423565/donte-whitner), Ahmad Brooks (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/1114534/ahmad-brooks), Isaac Sopoaga (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/493071/isaac-sopoaga) and Ricky Jean Francois (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/558589/ricky-jean-francois) -- made a video supporting the campaign and itgetsbetter.org (http://www.itgetsbetter.org/).
On the heels of Culliver's comments, both Brooks and Sopoaga were asked about the video and both told USA TODAY Sports (http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/niners/2013/01/31/niners-ahmad-brooks-isaac-sopoaga-deny-antibullying-video/1880299/) that they didn't remember making it. Then when shown the video, both men acknowledged that they didn't realize the purpose of the video was to fight the bullying of LGBT teens. They thought it was to fight bullying in general.
"I didn't make any video," Brooks said when initially asked about it. "This is America and if somebody wants to be gay, they can be gay, but I didn't make any video. I think if I made a video, I'd remember it."
When Brooks was shown the video, he remembered making it, but not for the exact purpose it was intended, "Oh, that. It was an anti-bullying video, not a gay (rights) video," Brooks said.

Nicolaus Copernicus (German: Nikolaus Kopernikus; Italian: Nicolò Copernico; Polish: Mikołaj Kopernik (help·info); 19 February 1473 – 24 May 1543) was a Renaissance mathematician and astronomer who formulated a comprehensive heliocentric model which placed the Sun, rather than the Earth, at the center of the universe.[1]
The publication of Copernicus' epochal book, De revolutionibus orbium coelestium (On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres), just before his death in 1543, is considered a major event in the history of science. It began the Copernican Revolution and contributed importantly to the rise of the ensuing Scientific Revolution. Copernicus' heliocentric theory placed the Sun at the center of the solar system and described that system's mechanics in mathematical rather than Aristotelian terms.
One of the great polymaths of the Renaissance, Copernicus was a mathematician, astronomer, jurist with a doctorate in law, physician, quadrilingual polyglot, classics scholar, translator, artist,[2] Catholic cleric, governor, diplomat and economist.
