Less than an hour after an undisclosed injury forced former light heavyweight champion Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson to withdraw from his Oct. 13 fight against Glover Teixeira, UFC 153 took another major hit.

Featherweight champion Jose Aldo suffered a foot injury and pulled out of his main event bout against ex-lightweight titleholder Frankie Edgar.

UFC president Dana White announced the withdrawals Tuesday. "Rampage is hurt and is out of UFC 153 in (Rio de Janeiro)," White said on Twitter.

"Now, Aldo is out with a foot injury, main and co-main in the same day. Another amazing day at the UFC; we have some work to do."

Aldo suffered a swollen foot and several scratches on Sept. 1 after a car hit the motorcycle he was riding in the Copacabana section of Rio de Janeiro.

But Aldo said the injuries were minor and would not prevent him from defending his title against Edgar.

A leg injury forced Aldo to withdraw from a July 21 bout against Erik Koch at UFC 149 in Calgary, Alberta. The fight was rescheduled for UFC 153.

But Koch would suffer a partially torn medial collateral ligament in his right knee and withdrew from the bout, opening the door for Edgar.

Aldo (21-1) has not fought since Jan. 14 when he knocked out Chad Mendes in the first round at UFC 142 in Rio de Janeiro.

The fight against Teixeira was to be Jackson's last with UFC.

Jackson (32-10) has lost two consecutive fights.

He suffered a knee injury before his most recent fight against Ryan Bader on Feb. 26 in Saitama, Japan. The injury hindered Jackson's training and he was unable to make the 205-pound light heavyweight limit.

It was the first time Jackson failed to make weight in his professional mixed martial arts career.

Jackson and Bader competed at a catch weight of 211 pounds. Bader won the fight by unanimous decision.

I'll still watch if they sub Korean Zombie in for Aldo as a #1 contender fight.

Couldnt give a fuck about Rampage, he's been shot to bits for ages and wouldve just been a 205lbs punchbag anyway.

I dont even know the card for UFC 153

Next Big Thing

Main Card (Pay-per-view):
145 lbs.: Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar
205 lbs.: Quinton Jackson vs. Glover Teixeira
170 lbs.: Jon Fitch vs. Erick Silva
205 lbs.: Phil Davis vs. Wagner Prado
170 lbs.: Demian Maia vs. Rick Story

Preliminary Card (FX Channel):

155 lbs.: Rony Mariano Bezerra vs. Sam Sicilia
265 lbs.: Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Geronimo Dos Santos
145 lbs.: Diego Brandao vs. Joey Gambino
155 lbs.: Francisco Trinaldo vs. Gleison Tibau

Preliminary Card (Facebook):

170 lbs.: Sergio Moraes vs. Renee Forte
205 lbs.: Luiz Cane vs. Chris Camozzi
155 lbs.: Reza Madadi vs. Cristiano Marcello

It wasn't a bad card and I still want to see Fitch vs. Silva. Silva is emerging as a beast and if he can survive a grinder like Fitch he might be on the rise.

If Dana wanted to save the card and still had a hard on for fucking with Jon Jones, he could push the Jones/Belfort fight back and go back to the original main event on the Toronto card. It would be a dick move, but I wouldn't put it past him.

Fucking love Bonnar and he's been in his prime in his last few fights IMO.

Not saying he's gonna win but while his lights are on, he's gonna be swinging and its gonna be exciting.

He is giving a title fight to a guy who hasn't fought in almost a year, is 3-3 in the past 3 years. He is on a 3 fight win streak, but against schmucks. You can't claim to be the premier MMA company whose champions are truly the undisputed best in the world when the only qualification for a challenger to earn a marquee fight is "tough son of a bitch who will let another guy hit him in the face with a frying pan when Dana is in a bind if it means he won't get fired next time he goes on a losing streak." Love Bonnar, but this is a joke. That is the problem with boxing and some mma fighters, all they do is fight fucking jobbers while claiming to be the best in the world. I have no doubt it will be a good fight because Bonnar will gladly die in blaze of glory in the 5th round, but his win over Kyle Kingsbury last November wasn't impressive enough to earn him a main event fight against the best fighter in the world. I'm surprised they didn't talk Bonnar into moving down to middleweight and giving him a title fight.

Come on! It was Jones' 2nd UFC fight and it was 3 years ago. You can't compare then to now.

It's not going to be a title fight...rather a 3 round bout at 205.

Don't main events go 5 rounds now? I know its not a title fight, but he shouldn't be in a main event to begin with. Bonnar has done nothing to earn a main event fight other than being a tough son of a bitch.

3 Rounds, as it's short notice, and for short notice Main Event that's pretty solid (Huge name against an extremely well known 205'er who is tough as nails, and almost guarantees a fun fight).

I dunno. If I can get my boys to put down $10 to $12 each I'd get it just to see in what manner and how quickly Silva executes Bonnar. Seeing Big Nog come back is intriguing and I believe Fitch vs. Silva will be Fight of the Night worthy.

The thing about these Brazil cards though is the UFC isn't really doing them for the North American market as much as they are for the Brazilian market. That last Brazil fight card blew donkey dick, but the crowd still went apeshit. They just stack them with Brazilians and the arena is sold out. The only reason Silva is on this card is probably because Dana wants to make up the lost PPV revenue from UFC 152.
