Guru Dave posted this in another thread earlier, I had totally forgotten about this video. But watching it now, I would have to say I agree with Jeff Hardy to an extent. If it wasn't for that fued with Jeff would CM Punk be where he is today....

If Jeff Hardy weren't a huge drug addict giving such easy material to Punk's "straight edge" character and his promos, Punk would have had to go another route.

Punk was already in the main event before Hardy. He wasn't crazy over but not many were. Without Hardy, Punk would have done the same "quick random storyline, get lost in the shuffle, repeat" thing that he did anyway, struggling to solidify himself in the main event. Then he would have sat down at the end of the ramp to cut one of the most memorable promos in years and years and "left with the WWE title" and reached a level Hardy never got to like he has now.

Basically, Punk would be exactly where he is right now if Hardy were there or not.

Dear Jeff Hardy,

If you're going to cut a promo trying to explain why a straightedge guy isn't as cool as you, you may consider not being high as a kite and looking like a complete and total jackass.

Was this before or after he "out-popped" DX? I can't remember the chronology.

Is he even capable of that?

From the video, what I get is that Jeff Harvey is butthurt because CM Punk didn't say "Hi" to him.

So he goes on a rant about other things just to show his displeasure.

one of the very first things you "learn" to do is introduce yourself to the entire locker room. Kind of has a point if guys like Taker are still doing it every time they're booked.

What Jeff said on the video is that CM Punk didn't say "Hi" to him one time he (Jeff) "went up to see homeboys" (went backstage and visited some of the guys).

So he's butthurt because of that.

Ambien is not a drug motherfucker, it's medication. You see Jeffery he went out to a person they call a doctor and he gave him a prescription. Of course I shouldn't be believing him in the first place about the Ambien.

Sure he is. But don't go on like "I made you a Superstar and all that shit".

he had as much, if not more of a role than anybody else in making him a star/was nothing but a model professional in terms of "doing business on your way out" properly and played a big role in Punk's immediate success and he feels like Punk blanked/direspected him. This probably isn't without reason given Punk is notorious for being aloof/bit of a cunt, dare I say possibly more so to a guy like Jeff Hardy (i.e the opposite of "straight edge") still not seeing your problem

Since straight edge rules are complete made up and arbitrary, I am adding that prescription medications are ok. Others thing that casual sex is also not allowed, so there is no standard set of rules.

Ambien isn't a drug unless it is illegally obtained.

If anyone should get credit for "making" Punk (other than Punk himself since the sit down promo is literally the one moment that "made" him), it should be John Cena. If Hardy had "made" Punk, Punk wouldn't have been potentially on his way out the door after becoming lost in the shuffle a year and a half after the Hardy feud.

well no, there's "straight edge" and then there's people who want to be "straight edge" but don't want the inconvenience of some of the more stupid "rules"

nobody here is claiming Hardy "made" Punk, more got him from point A to point B quicker than he would have otherwise aka helped him on his way, the first to make him look like a "credible threat", the genesis for the "pipebomb"/close to the bone Punk being unveiled to the WWE audience. He certainly wasn't "potentially on his way out of the door" tho.

The lack of a question mark made me read that as a statement.

Regardless, I was replying to the video as the topic had asked. If I was replying to someone here I would have quoted someone here.

Well, the "rules" for straightedge seem to have some pretty huge grey areas (possibly because they're entirely made up and not even straightedge always agrees on what is straightedge) especially when it comes to medications.

I mean, does being straightedge really mean you compromise your morals if you choose to undergo cancer treatment or take your herpes medication? o.O

Anywho, yeah... Jeff Hardy is an overrated spot monkey. He can be butthurt Punk didn't trade cookie recipes with him, but it could be argued that doesn't matter. I mean, I don't like pedophiles. Is it rude if I don't greet a former coworker after he gets out of prison for banging a 9yo? Even if it IS rude, do I care? If the guy trained me in my job, do I owe him anything?

Besides, Hardy essentially claims he made Punk. He didn't. Typical Hardy ego, thinking he is a lot more valuable than he really is.
