View Full Version : Next big star of the WWE (and TNA)?

Seeing as Cena is starting to get up there in age and recent debates on if Ryback's push will lead him to becoming a top star, who currently on the roster besides Ryback has a legit chance of becoming the next mega star of the WWE within the next 1-2 years?
By mega star I also mean someone who will easily be considered as the top guy for the next 4-5 years since by then Cena's reign probably would be over unless his really enters Hogan/Flair territory for length.
To a lesser extent, is Aires considered as TNA's next mega star or will it be someone else either currently on or not on TNA's roster at the moment?

I can't throw around "mega star" for anyone in TNA.
Outside of Ryback, I guess the guy with the next best shot would be Sheamus if they keep him consistently looking strong over that time period.

It should be Robert Roode or Wade Barrett, but it won't be.....

I would also like to see Barrett get a nice push. Although his new finisher is kinda lame. I mean, I get it he is going back to his "bareknuckle" roots or whatever.... but c'mon.
In TNA, I honestly like Bully Ray right now. He has done a damn good job at being heel for quite a while now. Roode is amazing as well, but is starting to get a bit... same ole' same ole' I guess.

It's really impossible to predict who will become the next mega star. Assuming that, by "mega star", you don't just mean "main eventer", but you're talking about "THE MAN" of the company.
I doubt many people thought guys like Hogan, Austin and Cena would have as big an impact as they did when they were still young.
Realistically, it could be anyone. Under the right circumstances, the right booking and backing behind him, even a guy like Santino Marella has the potential to become the next Steve Austin.

Sheamus is the logical choice.
Long shot: Jack Swagger. He has everything needed to be the mega superstar besides a writer who gives a crap.

who cares when there is Ryback to carry the company on his back?
It should be Robert Roode or Wade Barrett, but it won't be.....
Yes, Barrett needs to be let loose instead of fed to Cena and Orton again. Plus, he might rename his side slam to "The Agent of Change"... because "The Winds of Change" sounds too much like a reference to breaking wind.

:y:
I doubt many people were looking at Stunning Steve Austin and thinking he'd revitalise the business.
Or his Doctor Death persona. :shifty:
I always saw Aries as TNA's answer for CM Punk. Formula wise.
Personality-wise, however, he has one. So +1 for Aries.

? " The Winds of Change" is how the cliche goes, I don't know what "Agent of Change" even means.

This. Except that A-Double has been in and out of TNA a couple of times previous, as they "saw no value" and him supposedly being "a lockerroom cancer". Aside from that, though- highly touted, charismatic, indy star the fans are behind that can go in the ring and on the mic and gets pushed to the moon. Exactly that.
As for Ryback's seemingly impending hotshot (one shot at the end of RAW was honestly too early to tell where they're going with this... hell, we all might get swerved and Ryback could even be an "aquisition" of Heyman for muscle to appear weekly as Lesnar cannot), the problem is that there are guys such as Ziggler who are ready to go, and have been for quite awhile, and they're just not giving the green light. Unless he's being looked at the same way that Cena and Orton were once upon a time.

THE MOX
a couple of years ago i predicted that he would be in one of the big companies very soon, now i predict that he will be one of the biggest mega heels this decade, although it is hard to predict these things, if you look back at all the mega stars throughout wrestling in the past 30 or so years most of that was down to circumstance, the rock leaving the corporation, the durability of the austin 3:16 promo, mick foley off the cell, hulk hogan body slamming andré the giant and subsequently the birth of hulkamania, it all depends on the fans react to it and in some cases pop culture, if you look more recently at daniel brian and the explosion of the 'yes' chants and now he is more over than ever.

when figuring out the next big star (face wise) you have to think outside of wrestling. will they do all the make a wish, be a star, etc? have the cross-over ability for the mainstream and also make those appearances on tv shows. austin, rock and cena all did that. thats a big reason why punk wont ever be in their league. Dont get me wrong I think punk is the best thing in wwe right now, but he doesnt like doing the outside of the ring stuff, and thats completely fine.
right now i dont know who fits the mold of being the "next big star". i think ryback has the makings in the ring, he seems to have the personality to be able to have crossover appeal as well. sheamus would be another option as he is already big into be a star. minus those 2 I dont think the next big thing is currently in the company

I understand Jon Moxley's talent and think he would do well in the modern WWE if given a gimmick which makes him look different than a hybrid of "Nailz" Kevin Kelly and Bryan Danielson.

I think Little Jimmy could carry the WWE without a problem. He'd be a great in-ring competitor and could be a huge movie star in WWE movies. Plus, think how popular he'd be with the troops and the Make-A-Wish kids.

His first feud could be against Mr America over who gets the rights to be America even if it means the strong possibility Hogan wins in the end.

The WWE actually has a really strong roster at the moment, so while I can't for the life of me predict who will be the WWE's next "mega-star," I do think that they are better equipped than ever with guys who can hold the fort, in the sense that Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels did between Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose are both really young, both great workers, and both extremely charismatic. Rollins is not known for his speaking abilities, but like Jeff Hardy, he's just got this way of exciting and connecting to people. Ambrose could be a huge heel for the company, and if John Cena is looking to step down, I think that putting over Ambrose as a mastermind heel that somehow breaks Cena would be an awesome way to introduce him.
While Sheamus and The Miz aren't "young guys," their time in the business may not have taken a complete toll on them just yet. Dolph Ziggler is also ready to pull down the brass ring and be a main eventer now, even if he's not the guy to carry the company long-term.
You also have Roman Reigns in developmental, who I have heard tremendous things about. He's still quite green, but he's a relative of The Rock, and apparently quite charismatic. Provided they don't bring him in as a Samoan savage or something stereotypical like that -- he could be a big player.

When you're talking about future stars you have to look to OCW. Their super talented talent who entertain their fan every week on a mat in driveway are world class. I think, without hesitation, the next mega star in rasslin will be:

He's got the look. The guys wish they looked like that and the ladies wish they were sitting on his face. WWE, sign this guy:

Goddamn I am only 2 hours away from Ocoee. I could double their fan base if I went and watched it.
I think matt morgan could be the next big thing. I want them to have Undertaker lose against him at WM, and then have MM slowly gain undertakers powers and look over the next 3 years.

Yeah. Either him or "MagicMan" Jared Draheim are the "sure bets" to be the next big star of wrestling.
