Is anyone else playing this game at the moment?

For those who don't know, its a five episode game from Telltale Games, where the choices you make dictates how the game plays out. You play the game as Lee Everett, so a new character not associated with either the tv show or comics, and takes place at the outset of the zombie apocalypse when Rick Grimes is still in a coma.

Currently there are four episodes available, and I've just completed episode three. It's amazing to think how each different choice can change the story, as it remembers your previous choices from other episodes. In the third there are such heartbreaking yet compelling scenes, and have never been so pissed off by a game character after what happened.

They are currently available on XBL, PSN and Stream, but will be released on disc at the end of the year.

I thought 4 was the weakest of the series as an episode, but those last 10 or so minutes were amazing. It was clearly just a build up to the final episode and I can respect that. It was still fantastic even as the weakest one, mind you.

Goddamn 5 cannot come soon enough. This has reminded me to make a thread though...

I'm alright with Kenny. He has been through a lot and mostly been by my side to help when needed. He's not the perfect guy to have on your side, but I'll take him. I killed off Ben. He asked for it so I delivered, he caused too many problems. But then as soon as I did it I realized that I was just like the people of the town, killing off the weak and felt terrible. Then Kenny ratted me out to fucking everyone in front of Clem, was pissed about that. In the end I have everyone but Ben with me. Going to be a sad final chapter I think.

You know, I'm a little upset with how ep 4 turned out for me. Unlike PapaGeorgio, I had no qualms about letting that bastard fall. He got 4 people killed directly (story suggestion wise... wheather they die ANYWAY remains to be seen on subsequent playthroughs), chickened out when asked to protect Clementine whilst they were surrounded, also, didn't bother even keeping an eye on her to let her sneak off, and decided on his "confession" at the absolute worst possible time... so, when he said "Let me fall", I was all like "Okay!" and gleefully let him go. Wish I had the opportunity to SHOOT HIM IN THE FACE like a certain other person got over that bandit situation.

And so, I'm supposed to feel *sorry* for letting him die? And am supposed to have an outcome in which I TAKE THIS SCREW-UP WITH ME ON A RESCUE MISSION!?! Piss on that! Triage.

Also, (@Merc) I didn't have a problem with digging up the dog. I had a problem with the "re-burial". So sad, especially after seeing that painting in the house to put it in perspective.

Just finished episode four, completely loving this series. I've hated Ben ever since we found out it was him that was giving the bandits stuff, and when he confessed to Kenny, I was ready to kill him there and then, but when it came time to choose I couldn't let him drop. He had just completley given up and I ended up feeling sorry for him. In the end, Ben was the only one who came along with me.

Felt sorry for Chuck, wouldn't have been a nice way to go. But I wasn't overly bothered by Brie's death. Had a real 'oh fuck' when realised Lee had been biten at the end, and surprised to find only 20% of other gamers hid the bite like I did.

There was more at work than the sheer "exitement" of letting Ben fall. Giving the inconsistency of how many times I've been lifted/dropped by Kenny, yet effortlessly lifted onto a roof by some strange chick with a mountain climbing hook (Molly, and "Hilda", respectively)... I kinda figured there would be some sort of danger I would be placed in by trying to pull a prone Ben up, only to have it backfire and put both of us in some "active time" danger in which I have to protect THE BOTH OF US because he sucks ass. No thank you. There was more at work than me being a dick to him, especially since I tried not to be a dick to anyone the whole game... but it seemed the path of least resistance, and kept the rest of us safer. Plus, he deserved it, so fuck him.

Also, I figured it was Ben in the first place. However, I didn't have any sure proof or catch him in any kind of lie or anything before the Motor Inn fell, so I didn't want to be all "It was him!!!" and then have them ask me to prove it like so much L.A. Noire. Hell, I almost admitted to it just to see what would happen. I just didn't think Carly would catch a case of shot-in-the-face syndrome over it. Absolutely will cop to it on another playthrough.

Somewhat unrelated, I wish Ben's fate would have been shared by Hope from Final Fantasy XIII. Those two can sit next to each other in hell as far as I'm concerned. Horrible, horrible characters. At least in Ben's case, I kinda was to blame for rescuing him in the first place. Hope is foisted on you from jump.

Lastly, the bite thing was kinda spoiled for me. I figured "you" weren't going to make it, since a) it's Walking Dead- nobody's safe 'cept anyone who was cannon- like Glenn and Hershel, and b) the artwork for every chapter acts as a minor spoiler... chapter 3 has the train, so you stop driving the RV and hop a train at some point, chapter 4 shows Lee, Kenny, and Christa, so pretty much that tells you you meet her and she's going to live at least into going to live into the next chapter. In the chapter five art, Clem's by herself. That in itself seemed suspect.

Honestly, my only true problem with this game is the LACK OF INVERSION OPTION! Chaps my ass the number of time's I've died over something so simple just because it goes to some first or tight third person action sequence and I can't fight a walker off not because I don't know what to do, or am reacting too slow, but because I skew the cursor completely the wrong way. Hopefully, they at least correct this fault with the disc release.

I saved Carly straight up. The only decision I've made through the entire game (besides letting Ben drop) where I wasn't playing peacemaker or being a nice guy. It was pure triage: Carly had a GUN, Doug was by a door they were pouring in. Carly had a gun, Doug was more meat for them to be distraced by and chew through while we all got away. Also, CARLY HAD A GUN!

If Carly were by the door and Doug were reaching for the gun, I'd have saved him. Less about the person, more about the zed repellant in that instant.

I almost don't want Ep 5 to come. Other than the very end of Deadly Premonition, it's the only game to give me any real emotion in ages, Think I'll be doubly crushed, one by the story and again that it's all over.

Easily game of the year. I don't care about other games shooty mechanics or how a racing games engine makes for perfect slides. This game made me feel emotion like no other game has ever done.

There is no debate. It may not just be the game of the year for me, but even bigger than that. It is incredible.

Yeah it should easily win any awards it's up for, but without the massive advertising other games have gotten I'm not sure it will. Despite a few niggles (having to sign out and back in of my xbox profile once the game has started in order for it to recognise my saved games) I've absolutely loved playing this game, more so than any boxed game for the past few years and haven't felt so much emotion since Shadow of the Collosus.

Going to do a number of play throughs to see what other options come about.

Was surprised to find that, like with episode four, my choices went against the majority. I went with what I thought was the right thing to do for my Lee, but somehow seemed to be the opposite everyone else.

I was absolutely heartbroken when Ben died. I saved him at the bell tower in episode four and was the only one who came with me to help find Clementine. I felt he was really trying to make up for his earlier screw ups and grew to trust him again. When he stood up to Kenny, I was like 'whoa' but he was right. When I saw him impaled in the alleyway, my heart just sank. Like Lee says in the attic, he's still just a kid himself which we forget at times. And when Kenny went down to help him and eventually had to put him out of his missery, again I couldn't help but well up when he sacrificed himself.

What were everyone's choices for the final episode, mine were:

Remove Lee's arm: No Didn't see the point, I was bitten and it had been too long since it happen for it to make a difference. If I wanted to get Clem back, I needed everything I had left to get her.

Lost Temper: Calmed the situation Don't really remember this choice, but that apparently what I did.

Gave up weapons: No (lied) No way in hell I was going to be unarmed with that freak

Killed Clementine's captor: No, Clem did Only because I didn't time it right and got shot myself, before Clem popped him in the head

Stopped Lee from turning: No I couldn't do that to Clem. I asked her to leave me as I didn't want to put her through doing that to closest person she had left.

Remove Lee's arm: Yes Looking back, this was the worst scene. No, not because of the gruesome detail of the scene, which was fairly shocking, but because it gave me hope. Obviously nothing was going to end up OK, but it was a worth a punt to at least stop Lee from turning.

Lost Temper: Yup Kenny pisses me off and he continued to

Gave up weapons: Yes Dude had a gun and I didn't know what the string over the door was about so if I was found out, it could have been catastrophic

Killed Clementine's captor: Yup Choked the bitch out

Stopped Lee from turning: Yes Felt I had to keep her strong. I may have done this with tears, which is a huge testament to the game

Fucking eh, I upgraded my PC to Windows 8 for whatever reason and did a refresh on it getting rid of all apps and shit. Just realized I lost my save file. So fucking pissed that can't play episode 5 with my file. I think there's a way to still just play it without having to play everything again but Ben better not be on my team. SOOOO ANGRY!!!!

I'm afraid I have some bad news for you....

Though there is a season 2 coming eventually though could be new cast of characters.

I just finished my play through. Lost may save file but overall the random choices were close to what I did. So sad. Last half of the episode was just wow. In the hotel, the silence there was amazing.

I could sort of see that coming, because when all the guys were jumping across to the roof, the railing gave way a bit on Kenny. I bet if Ben were with us, he'd have fallen there. But, I let that bastard fall to his death previously, so basically it was enevitable for him. I feel less bad about it now- and I wasn't broken up about him not there to begin with.

Final Choices:

Remove Lee's arm: No I went with the fact that it was "unknown" by these people that that had a possiblility of working. In spite of having seen the show, this not only happened previously, but to a different group in a different place. I figured there might be a chance to stop turning, but two arms were better to help find Clementine.

Lost Temper: Calmed the situation I tried to keep everyone focused on finding Clem. Arguing about finding another boat or not wasn't accomplishing anything constructive.

Gave up weapons: Yes I didn't know if he saw that big ass cleaver hanging out my pants, and wasn't going to risk literally bringing a knife to a gunfight to save Clem. I don't know why the radio counted as a weapon, and I had already dropped my gun.

Killed Clementine's captor: No, Clem did I *DID* time it right, and we still rolled around like a catfight. Clem tapped him Boondock Saints style.

Stopped Lee from turning: No I couldn't do that to Clem either. I wanted her to be strong, but not 100% cold. I did tell her to keep cutting her hair. It seemed like the most touching, personal response I gave in that whole last speech.

Also, with the walker guard, I had her reach for the gun. Lee told her "always go for the gun." It seemed a bit more personal to me, since that's why I rescued Carly over Doug to begin with... she had the gun.

Also:

Firstly, although they make it seem possible that the two figures are Christa and Omid... seems unlikely. My first question was "If Clem knew how to get back to the train, why the fuck is she walking through a wheat field?" It doesn't expressly say how much time has passed, and Clem may have been there already and not found them. I figured with intertwining cannon, it may have a possibility of being Andrea and Michonne between season 2 and 3 of the show. They may have been making a run for supplies or something, and as such, not had the two chained walkers with them. Seems "hopeful" that it's them, but likely it's just a setup point for getting a crew for the next game.

Secondly... how the hell did Clem's mother get all the way from Savannah? In my game, the one cannibal brother shot her in the face at the campsite (presumably before she could give too much information). She shouldn't have turned, let alone herded her way to exactly where we were going. I get it being a dramatic moment with Clem seeing them there and knowing they are now dead, but that seems an unpatched plothole due to my choices.

All in all, I loved this ride... but there are some things I wanted to know how the other path would play out in the same scenario. It'll be pretty hard to retrace the steps I took to begin with just to do/say three or four things differently. And apparently, that first choice has a HUGE bearing on the outcome of the entire landscape.

How so? I did manage to pick up the recorder and had batteries out the tent when reclaiming Clem's hat. I couldn't look at the other stuff because I got cut off. In the recording later, didn't she say she was Clem's mother?

Slightly different, a bit more ambiguously my game says Kenny died too. He slapped me on my back and made me drop the radio. I thought it might still be important in finding Clem, so while we argued about who should go down and get it, Christa jumped down in the hole.

She couldn't reach us to pull her back up, and grabbed a metal pole. When she slid off and we dropped the pole, a bunch of walkers who were standing in the room the whole time suddenly realized she was there. Kenny jumped down to give her a boost, then ran off into the darkness shooting. I didn't know if he took a couple of them with him, shot himself, or found an alternate exit until the ending says he died. Kind of the same thing with the hobo. He says "i'll catch up with you later" and I just find him dead randomly in the sewer. Kenny says "I'll find a way around", and isn't seen or heard from again.

Honestly, I wouldn't have bothered about getting it back if I knew the radio had no bearing on anything anymore. Seriously, it didn't come into play once after Clem managed to tell us she was OK.

(Presumably) Kenny got killed for no reason. Bastards.

Unlike Heavy Rain though, this game is brilliantly written.

just got this on steam and in the middle of the first one. my biggest issue is the fucking mouse sensitivity when i need to be quick to kill a zombie. i always over shoot the target area or move to it too slowly.

I had issue with the mouse if you go into settings and change the resolution to like 680 x480 or what ever it is it fixed it for me

Also, Chuck the hobo was the most pointless character in this game. You find him near the end of Chapter 3, and he dies near the start of Chapter 4.

It would be interesting if they went with that, but then you probably wouldn't get as much of an emotional attachment to the characters.

I'm not sure I would want to play as Clementine in the second season, it would envolve a huge time jump to make her 'playable' and I'm not sure that would help the series, just too much time would have passed and a lot would have to be explained. Plus, I fucking hate Omid and Krista so I don't want to control or see either of those two again :mad:

Telltale Games announces they are unable to fix the disc version of the game for the Xbox 360 although their research has shown most of the problems involve those with 4GB Xbox 360s.

Those people will be able to receive a download ticket to get the digital version of the game for free. The only disclaimer is all the episodes combined end up being about 3GB in size.

The 5 characters backstory was too rushed.. Wish there could've been more like when Russell didn't liked what his partner was doing when he decided to kill those sweet old couple and steal stuff. There should've been an option there to stop him from shooting.

If by "sweet old couple", you mean racist prick and his dying wife. I understand the feeling of kind of wanting a third choice a couple times, like there instead of one fucked up choice or the other, or having the stoner yell for help instead of drive off or die...but I had immensely little sympathy for the guy who seemed less concerned that his wife was bleeding out than with being potentially robbed by a black kid and a white guy who should know better than to consort with such people. While it wasn't the ideal outcome, to me, her offscreen death was a mercy kill; his I wasn't too broken up about.

During a panel at San Diego Comic-Con today, Telltale provided the first details about The Walking Dead: The Game’s second season.

According to the panel, Clementine “will definitely be a part of” the upcoming season, and the fate of Kenny “will be explored.” A teaser image revealed during the panel showed what appeared to be Clementine sitting in the rain next to a child.

Little else is known about season two, and there’s still no details on whether this means these characters will be playable or if they’ll simply be making cameo appearances. Telltale did mention that, unlike the delay with season one, the second season will launch on Vita alongside other platforms.

Not a Hell of a lot happened in episode 1 of the new season, bit that's ok since they have to reset the stage here. Other than that, was just like previous episodes which is great. Clem is gonna be a badass (to an extent) this year it seems. Frame rate issues seemed pretty bad at times. Played last season all at once after it came out, so playing one episode at a time is going to kill me.

Finally got round to download and play this. My choices and thoughts for first play through below:

1- Saved Crista
2- Killed the dog
3- Refused to give dying man water
4- Accepted Nick's apology
5- Went with Pete

Loving the story so far, although it did seem pretty short. Maybe I'm just used to the format now and know what to do/interact with. Liking the changes to the system itself, makes things a lot easier, and it seems a lot more slick. I liked how it recapped on the your previous seasons choices before you began, some of them I had actually forgotten.

Cannot believe Omid died pretty much straight away, I really wanted to kill that bitch instead of Crista doing it but oh well. Was quite a shock early on to lose him, thought they would stick around longer. That scene with the dog was awful, felt so bad killing it but thought I would put it out of it's misery. I can understand why he attacked, he was just as hungry as the humans and would do anything to get food. I'm really liking Clem being that bit older and played through with her being a bit of a bad ass. The line where she says "Still...not...bitten" really had me cheering for her.

Really cannot wait till the next episode, which I would imagine will be out in a couple of months.

Episode Two is set to release on March 4, 2014 on PC, Mac, and PlayStation 3 in North America. Release dates for Xbox 360, iOS, and PlayStation 3 in Europe are still unknown, but will be confirmed in the near future.

Telltale Games tweeted out the world-wide release dates for the Xbox 360 and iOS versions of The Walking Dead Season 2 - "A House Divided," and it turns out our fears of a delayed release for these versions have been put to rest.

These releases will indeed go ahead as scheduled, with the Xbox 360 version launching world-wide on XBLA March 5, and the world-wide iOS release will follow suit the next day.

There's still no word on when the game will be available on the European PSN Store but it shouldn't be too far behind the other platforms.

Carver is much like the Governor in this game referencing the mid-season finale. And of course the teaser for Episode 3 where he claims he has his own community of people willing to help and if shit starts hitting the fan, he loses his shit altogether.

And, FUCK YOU BONNIE?!?!?! WHY WHY?!?!??!

Really nearly bawled my tears out seeing the all too familiar friend comeback..

Oh man, a great episode. I had tears in my ears when Kenny showed up, even though I had a feeling it was going to be them. Some really tough choices this time round.

My choices were:

1 - Blamed someone else for Sarah's photo
2 - Sat with Kenny :'(
3 - Told Walter the truth about Matthew
4 - Convinced Walter to forgive Nick
5 - Stayed to help Carlos

Oh and fuck you Bonnie! :foc: I didn't help you to go and do this to me! I imagine the rest of the 400 Days group are back at the community

Here's my other choices:

Sat with Kenny.. Most tempting offer. Luke had a sad face when I did it. Sorry, age before beauty. :p
Lied to Walter about Matthew's death.
I'M NOT AN ASSHOLE comment to Matthew the bridge dude. lol.
Tried locking the door when Carver was going in anyway.
Put the tree star as Christmas decoration and Sarah felt disappointed.
Told Carlos about distracting her and Sarah goes, "I THOUGHT WE'RE FRIENDS!" Sorry, Sarah. lol.
Treated the preggie Rebecca with no bitch attitude in this episode.. She took my advice I guess. lol.
Decided to go with Kenny and his sniper gun but still Carver kills Walter. Thank god, he didn't shoot Carlos too or chop his head off. Whew.
Despite saving Pete, he ended up the same fate as Lee. He even talked like him minus the handcuffs in his last moments to take care of Nick. :(

Well, I took my time exploring the surroundings for items, telescoping the horizons and esp. getting to know about Nick and company aside from going in the lodge.

As a result of that, it lasted nearly 2 hours.

My choices in Ep. 2:

∙Accepted blame for taking photo of Sarah. (41.6%)
∙Sat with Kenny’s table instead of Luke’s. (65.1%) :)
∙Told Walter the truth about Matthew and showed Nick the photo of Walter and Matthew. (74.1%) :'(
∙Convinced Walter to forgive Nick by convincing him that Nick is a good guy. (84.3%)
∙Escaped outside and tried to get Kenny’s help instead of surrendering. (54.0%)

Pretty shocking how much shit hit the fan towards the end of the ep. Looking forward to In Harm’s Way.

In my 2nd playthrough, during the bridge scene where 2 zombies are there, I decided to let Clem take the big one instead!! And Luke just envied her with that look and he gave her a high 5 afterwards. Better than taking out the shorty one. lol.

Hugged Kenny twice after the beat down from shitty Carver.
Decided to kill zombie instead of chopping Sarita's arm. I fucked up. lol.
Letting Bonnie redeem herself by coming with our group.
Tried to help Kenny when he was beatdown but Fucking Troy punched me first!
And I told Sarah to RUN when we're already surrounded by zombies. I think I fucked up too.

I think I might replay on the last part. Still, it's an episode full of revenge, hate, sadness, and redemption.

Holy hell what an episode, my Clem went dark in this one. Choices I made and other episode spoilers:

1 - Helped Sarah with her chores
2 - Told Bonnie about Luke
3 - Tried to hide theft of walkie talkie
4 - Watched Carver get his stupid fucking face smashed in
5 - Chopped of Sarita's arm

Also hugged Kenny at any opportunity, I love that big old fuzz face, wonder if he'll go all governor on us? Glad Troy got shot in the balls, sacrifice style. Told Sarah to run during the final moments, looks as if she'll be lost going by the 'Next time on Walking Dead' thing. Poor Carlos and Alvin though :'(

So glad Bonnie redeemed herself and helping out, glad to see her next time. I'm worried about Luke though, I have a terrible feeling he's been bitten and is hiding it to help us get out.

Going to be another long wait.
