View Full Version : Who should induct The Undertaker at the WWE Hall of Fame someday?

I've thought about it and my vote would be Mick Foley - He's the first guy that pops in my head when I think of the Undertaker and all his matches.
Mankind was such a great gimmick - He and Taker were two peas in a pod - Just total and complete whackjobs. Watching them wrestle was like watching two guys in a looney bin go at it.
The Undertaker truly met his match when he met Mankind for the first time - Most guys feared Undertaker, but the Mankind character was fearless and totally out of his mind.

Paul Bearer would be the obvious choice, but I like where you are going with Foley. I remember first seeing the Mankind character and he would fuck up Taker for week after week for quite a while at first. Even the creepy piano exit music that was different than the entrance music was an awesome effect. Between that, the screams during mandible claw, and repeatedly ripping out his hair, that character truly was one of the first to have Taker taken to the edge. I don't even need to mention their HIAC match.

The thing about Paul Bearer is he was never in the ring with the Undertaker. i.e. He was never in a wrestling match with him, and I'd personally prefer that the Undertaker be inducted by a guy who was actually in the ring with Taker and worked with him. By doing that, the wrestler who is picked can talk not only about Taker as a person but Taker as a wrestler as well.
The Undertaker also really helped put Foley over so to me Foley is the best and ideal choice.

OR!!!! They could really take it back and have Million Dollar Man do it.... since he is the one that "debuted" him, if you will.
I agree with you on every point with Foley over Bearer. I figure in an effort to "get over" with the majority of the attention spans of most wrasslin' fans today, Bearer would be more memorable (even though, IMO, Foley is MUCH more memorable)

I could honestly see Vince doing it. It would show how big of a deal Taker is and stroke Vince's ego as well (not that he needs it but seems to want it lol) Has Vince ever personally inducted anyone?

I know its stupid but I'm on board with the druids and Paul bearer in fact because of who and what The Undertaker is 'Id love it if this induction was a bit more theatrical but that's just me.

There's so many people that can have the honor...
Jerry Lawler (who Undertaker beat to win his very first title in his career)
Terry Funk (who came up with Undertaker's WCW name, as he claimed he was "callous")
Teddy Long and Dan Spivey (who were instrumental in starting Undertaker's mainstream run)
Road Warrior Animal (for his first big rivalry, when the Skyscrapers feuded with the Road Warriors)
Paul Heyman (who managed Undertaker during his solo run in WCW)
Ted DiBiase, Sr. (for introducing the Undertaker at the 1990 Survivor Series)
Brother Love (for first managing Undertaker in WWF)
Paul Bearer (for obvious reasons)
Jimmy Snuka (for being the beginning of Undertaker's streak)
Ric Flair (for helping Undertaker win his first WWF title)
Jake Roberts (for giving Undertaker a knack for ring psychology)
Mick Foley (for his infamous feud with Undertaker as Mankind)
Kane (for obvious reasons)
APA (for being the core for the Ministry of Darkness with Undertaker)
Shawn Michaels (for his feud with Undertaker in 1997-1998, as well as the two classic WrestleMania matches in 2009 and 2010)
Triple H (for the on-and-off rivalry between 1997 and 2012)

I'd say Triple H since he was part of 3 of his Wrestllemania streak matches.

I agree with DLVH84 that someone who was responsible for his huge success as "Mean" Mark in WCW should definitely be considered for his WWE Hall of Fame inductor.

Also, Ric Flair for sliding a chair in the ring that Taker tombstoned Hogan on to win his first title should totally be seriously considered.

Honestly, I think they should go "all out" for him and have multiple people induct him. Make him the only inductee that night and just have everyone speak about how he was the fucking heart and soul of the WWE for over 2 decades with WWE's awesome video packages between. Basically, a lot like the tribute shows only without the tragedy, tears, and pit in your stomach.
???? talks about Mark Callaway's early life/career.
Video Package
Paul Bearer talks about the early days in WWF
Video Package
Mick Foley talks about the mid-late 90s.
Video Package
Kane talks about Taker from 2000-2010.
Video Package
Vince McMahon capstones it with Undertaker's importance to the WWE's legacy and him staying loyal to the WWF for decades.
Video Package
The Undertaker gives his speech.

DDP could do that part because he was a manager in WCW when Callaway was there and because Faulkner is under a WWE Legends contract.

Well, there are some obvious things that could happen but are highly unlikely (ie. gets arrested for murder/rape/heroin possession/etc. or he fucks Stephanie and Linda in a weird biker bar orgy of death while Michelle McCool is wearing a chicken suit and shooting pudding out of her cunt.)

Bullshit he's not.
Unless 'taker pulls something as unforgivable as Ch[REDACTED]oit, then there is no way in hell he isn't going in. The only question is when.
Also, he will be that years marquee inductee.
And, yeah, I can see them pulling all the stops and giving him multiple people giving speeches about him that year, and lowering the ammount of other entrants that year.

This is the internet. Jokes are never obvious unless you use the proper sarcasm tags.
Especially since not everyone is a fan of Undertaker to begin with. In the same way that not everyone singing Ryback's praises legit actually like the guy as much as they're blowing it way out of proportion for laughs. In text, it's hard to tell the difference between the two unless you're aware. Just thought you make have been one of his detractors. It's in easy mistake to make. Carry on.

On the True Story of Wrestlemania DVD, I remember a WWE exec saying that when they held WM22 @ the Staples Center, Vince told him the next day he didn't want to do anymore Mania's in arenas anymore, and he only wanted to hold WM in large (i.e. football/outdoor) stadiums.
At that point they had already booked WM23 @ Allstate Arena in Chicago so they were stuck with that arena though for the following year. It's my understanding that Vince decided that after WM23 though, they weren't going to hold WM in any more standard arenas.
I guess Vince only knows if that is still the plan though, or if they're going to make an exception for every 10 years to go back to MSG. We shall see.

I could see Paul Bearer, Kane, HBK, Foley or Vince as legit inductors for Taker when he goes in. Honestly, I think they may (and hopefully will) make quite a spectacle out of Taker's induction that night. I would be happy letting Vince, HBK, Bearer, Kane and Foley all take part or say a little something.

Even if you jack up ticket prices astronomically, I don't know how you could get the gate of 15,000 to come close to the gate of potentially 100,000+ at Cowboys Stadium.
Also, you are thinking of WM21 and WM22. WM 21 was in Staples Center, WM 22 in Chicago, and WM 23 was at Ford Field (82K attendance).
I always assumed this board held Taker in high regard I mean in the years Ive come here Ive never read any negative posts about him, besides whats not to like about the guy?

This is a tough one, because The Undertaker is such a self made man, it's not like you could say he's a "Heyman guy" or whatever...
I'd say Kane. My first instinct was Vince but I think he should only induct perhaps Bruno if it ever were to happen or someone posthumously.
Paul Bearer would be lame, I hope it's not him.
Triple H also seems quite likely given their dramatic Wrestlemania trilogy.
It would be really cool if they could get all of his living Wrestlemania opponents to come on stage for his speech.

He could probably do the exact same thing and still get the biggest entrance EVER... they would play it off as sending his family to see him.
