There is no way in hell they can do any spots either off of or through the Hell in a Cell. The "new" cell they used tonight (and have used for like 5-6 years now) is twice the height of the old one. It is way too high to safely do any sort of stunts. Edge said in one of his DVDs that he wanted to do a spot off the top, but when they climbed it earlier in the day he realized just how tall the new Cell is and there was no way in hell they'd be able to do anything.

I was hoping that WWE would do something with Brad Maddox. I hope this isn't just a one off "corrupt referee" thing, but they actually do something more with him. Maddox seems too handsome and charismatic to be just a referee.

I actually noticed he was handsome after he was laid out tonight. I was like, damn that's a handsome referee.

I immediately thought of fight club, wanted to destroy something beautiful. Fully expected Ryback to smash his face in with a mailed fist.

Ryback needs to be more Gregor Clegane.

I'm pretty sure they just did this as a way out of the match. But WWE does like to fly by the seat of their pants and book as they go so I can see them building it into something important.

I'd say he's slightly below average. Enough to turn me off from calling him a prototypical pro wrestler.

I do think he's incredible in pretty much every other aspect though.

I dont know what your deal is but ive been agreeing with you a lot lately. This is unusual.

Kofi kills the crowd.... I find him SO bland.....

Not sure how it came off on TV, but he was over as fuck and got one of the biggest reactions of the night right behind Orton, Rey, and Ryback

Shadrick

Goldberg chants.

And very little pop for Ryback. Terrible crowd.

He got one of the biggest reactions, live.

This is weird because I remember Ryder getting a monstrous pop the last time they were in Atlanta. It rivaled Punks. But when I went home to watch it they were on two different levels, and it didn't make sense.

WTF
"That year, in the Hell in a Cell event held on October 28 in Atlanta, Maddox was the official for the WWE Championship match between Goldberg and champion CM Punk. At the end of the contest, as Goldberg was going for his finisher, Maddox stepped in and told Goldberg to not do so. He then low-blowed Goldberg in the testicles, allowing CM Punk to pin Goldberg, and quickly counted to three, thus helping CM Punk retain the WWE Title. After the match, Goldberg press slammed Maddox from the ring into the cell structure. As cameras stopped rolling, Maddox was being attended to by two large bears and taken to the back. No immediate word was available regarding his condition."

I'm a little confused why they didn't have Vince book Punk in a 6 man HIAC after they had their match on RAW if they wanted him to retain. Could have played out similar to Angle's win 12 years ago. He could have pinned anyone but Ryback, which would have kept the belt on Punk and keep the undefeated streak intact. Punk vs. Ryback would also have a freshness to it somewhere down the line (maybe Mania if he stayed hot?). But now that it's been done in HIAC one on one, it's hard to go and sell a regular singles match between the two.

Sure it would have been a total cluster, but it would have been a fun match without booking yourself into a corner and could have saved the card on paper. Not sure who I would have included, maybe Punk/Ryback/Ziggler/Cena/Miz/Kofi

Meh though, I enjoyed the match for what it was. Ryback sold Punk's offense pretty well, and given the time, they delivered. The finish was lame, but I get it. Good, but definitely forgettable.

That'd be an awesome storyline. He came into the WWE to avenge his brother who lost out on millions of dollars and a chance to become the face of a football league thanks to Vince McMahon's stupidity.

Big Show beating Sheamus seems like the weirdest booking of the night, although I get what they are doing with it. Time for Sheamus to get "serious" and re-group against Show.

Punk was made to look pissy and weak from that ending. Ryback looks strong still. I am happy with this.

Tommy Gunn
10-29-2012, 06:33 AM
I guess it got the 'streak' off of Ryback to knock off another Goldberg comparison, while still making him look undefeated legit-wise.

Still can't believe that Show vs. Sheamus stole the show for me WITHOUT a Ziggle run-in.

I thought it was fucking incredible booking. Reminded me of the time when you genuinely had to fear the monster heel could beat anybody cleanly and wouldn't just be pushed to the title match and then the face would overcome and he'd go back to being a monster in look only.

It's the example I used when Mark Henry came up against Orton for the title and Orton just couldn't win but it's like Vader in WCW. When he beat Sting cleanly for the World title it was shocking and it made it seem like Vader wasn't just a monster for the sake of putting over the good guys but he was a genuine threat.

The Fraze is tugging one out right now hearing Tom DeLonge on a WWE PPV

Would have happened, but I was busy watching the Giants win the World Series. And I believe the song that was used is called Surrender, unless the ad is different than the one they used during Wrestlemania.

This was another good thing that came out of that match. He still looks unbeatable since he didn't actually get pinned legitimately and they don't have to worry about a stereotypical "monster face streak" getting attached to him as part of a gimmick. Win/Win.

I believe Ryback will get a rematch soon.

Probably but I don't think it will happen on PPV but on free TV so they can have a DQ finish and not end a PPV on a sour note.

I was a little nervous Ryback might shit his pants at this huge opportunity, but I'm glad that didn't happen. He handled himself well. Punk put him over like a boss too.

#1-norm-fan

Yeah, the entire atmosphere around that main event seemed incredibly "fresh". You had a face main eventing his first PPV ever and it didn't seem like it was a let down or that he was out of place. Ryback can bring that "big fight feel" WWE has lacked consistently for years.
