Looks sweet but they completely abandoned the campiness and humor..

Still looks somewhat campy, and the humor didn't really come in until the second film. This being a remake of the original, it makes sense that there is less humor.

The first one was campy and humorous due to lack of budget, the second was intetionally that way..

Looks okay, kind of wish Ash would show up though. The effects look good.

Looks good but nowhere near as charming as the original. I may or may not see this. I'm a huge fan of the original one and Army of Darkness.

If they re-do Army I def. will NOT be seeing it.

Why not??

If they modernize the CG and the effects, it would be awesome..

I am a firm believer in if it ain't broke don't fix it. AOD is perfect the way it is. Cheap, cheesy and campy. Adding effects , IMO, will take away from the charm of the film.

Now a possible re-release of the original cleaned up a little bit (not George Lucas cleaned up) with a higher quality film could be acceptable but a remake or reimagine would suck to me.

Think of it this way; if Raimi and his crew had lots more money back then, they would love to do something like this reboot. Keep in mind a lot of those practical effects back then were really just lack of budget or limitations of the present tech. Practical effects are cool, but in some cases I can understand CG.

think of it this way; Coke Zero. Just because it is "better for you" doesn't mean it is better.

Coke Zero's gay, though.

It's really no different than why people love Rocky Horror. Truth be told it is NOT a very good movie (the stage show is SOOOO much better, I should know) but there is a cult/campy feel about it that makes people want to talk about it and watch it.

Much like a wrestler with the "it" factor. He may not be the best wrestler in the world but people are just drawn to it.

And it probably would have been another forgettable horror film. While I think Raimi's pretty bad, the budget and practical effects basically create its charm

It doesn't help that RHPS was done as a movie to kind of capture in time the phenomenon that already existed.

"So bad it's good" is hard to capture in words, because it's a lot more subjective even than the normal determination of quality. It's easy to agree that a movie is good or bad, but at what point does a movie cross over into that realm where it's so terrible it's awesome to watch? Or for that matter, cheesey, since that works too.

Space balls 2 : the search for more money

A few years back, Mel Brooks had teased that there might be a "Spaceballs 3: The Search for Spaceballs 2", but that ship has probably sailed.

Ash is not in the film because you can't replace Bruce Campbell.

Yeah, but I'd like the chainsaw-handed Ash and this I somehow doubt.
