View Full Version : Worst legit stable

Who would you consider the worst legit stable ever? By legit, a stable that was not formed to be a joke or comedy segments. Example, Team Apple.

I would say No Limit Soldiers from WcW tops my list. The whole concept to me seemed ehhhh. If they had 2 less members they would have seemed more legit. Just seemed like a bunch of guys thrown together with little direction.

Probably the Right to Censor. Annoying theme song, mid-card talent, two great attitude era characters jumping the shark to join and just the whole gimmick. The fact that they actually held championships is the real joke.

Almost went this route but Steven Richards saved them.

When Lex Luger and Sid were part of the Horsemen.

But I liked Mongo still. With his superbowl ring he was excellence. Just not an excellent wrestler.

The 1999 reunion of The Varsity Club came across like a bunch of middle-aged wrestlers (Rick Steiner, Kevin Sullivan, and Mike Rotunda) attempting to relive their collegiate glory days by wearing faded letter jackets, playing some marching band song, and hanging out with Kimona Wanna-lay-ya. The angle lasted roughly from War Games to Starrcade with little to note except they all creamed Jim Duggan for some reason after tagging against The Revolution.

What was the name of the stable that Kurrgan was in before he joined the Oddities? They were pretty bad too and only lasted a few weeks.

Edit: Truth Commission. Got it. Yeah...they sucked too.

But he was OVER, though... but I will agree it was horrendous, mostly because K-Dawg would talk shit on his opponent with said mic time and then proceed to have his ass kicked. Made him look like a chump on a weekly basis. Kidman and maskless Rey Rey saved the crew from Konnan's suck, so they weren't "the worst".

X-Factor, on the other hand... I'm buying Heath Slater more as a stable leader already than I ever bought X-Pac. Might have changed people's opinion if he wasn't the same crotch-chopping jagbag his entire post nWo career. Albert was the big man being treated like a bastard stepchild by getting plunked with this crew, and WWE has always been content not to do shit with Justin Credible. Shitty music on both tries AND absolutely no direction or character development for any of the three. These guys were doomed from the start.

Vaugely remember that. I remember Animal coming out to the "Iron Man" riff that Russo also used. I had also forgotten about the team of Totally Buff.

And, to be fair, the 4 Horsemen had 5 members if you count JJ Dillon. Wasn't this one of the points where Flair was semi-retired again, and more of a figurehead than an active wrestler?

1999 - The nWo "B-team" - It just made the nWo look weak, and the logo itself was presented as a joke at that time. It deserved more respect then that.

Fignuts
11-05-2012, 10:38 AM
Yeah, but the B-team had Scott Norton and Curt Henning, so that saves them from beingthe worst.

Henning was on the B-team? You sure?

Only one I remember that I liked was Bryan Adams. I guess my beef with the B-team was that the nWo black and white was so epic and for them and the logo to be reduced to being called a "B-team" got under my skin. They should have retired it and just let those boys join the nWo Wolfpac with the rest of the guys, but I guess it was nice that the logo and look was still around in some role.

He was, and it pissed me the fuck off that he was relegated to jobber status.

Zeeboe
11-05-2012, 11:01 AM
I only remember him trying to join the Wolfpac, and then got jumped and was told by Hogan that he was "nothing". I also recall Hennig later left the nWo and formed his own stable, so at least his jober status was short-lived.

For your consideration: Dungeon of Doom

Just another option to consider. When they first were developed they were criminally over the top especially for the time period. No they did not have the worst talent (and neither did over half of the ones listed) but the cheesiness of their storylines and especially their video packages should earn them some consideration in this debate.

Forgot about the NWA. The second incarnation with Severn, Holly, Windham, and Bart Gunn was such a terrible group. At least the Jarrett/R'n'R Express/Windham version had sort of a fun nostalgia factor.

So what makes a stable legit? So if nobody knows who the founder is, would that make the stable "illegitimate"
