View Full Version : Router/Network problem
If I connect my laptop direct to the router via ethernet, it works fine, but I can't connect wirelessly. My home network shows up in the "available networks" list but has no signal strength and wont connect.
I've tried resetting my modem and unplugging the router, but nothing.
Any suggestions? I did a quick search on google and I found something about changing the channel on my router? I dunno

He's probably looking for area to set up tramoplines so he's 50000 brothers and sisters can just bounce over the fence.
We really should report Juan. He's taking the place of a poster who was here legally.

Does your router have external antennas? Are they properly connected?
Have you tried with other wireless devices? Do they work fine?
Did you actually try changing the channel? You could have interference going on. Look up the process for your router's UI.
Something something something comment about ethnicity and sexuality.

Try this.
Unplug router
Disable wireless card
Enable wireless card
Plug in router
Refresh list of networks
If it doesn't work, do a manual connection.

I had a similar problem. I connected directly via ethernet, entered http://000.000.000.000 (enter your isp address where the zeros are), and followed the prompts to configure the router this way.

Or just talk to it about steak.
"Oh my God, I've just discovered the greatest recipe ever! Fire! You take some wood, then you bang a couple of rocks together until sparks like, like the wood up. Then, you stick the meat on it. So delicious."

No it has no antennas.
I've also tried to connect my phone and iPod, but my network doesn't even show up on those devices.
Yeah, I've tried changing the channels to 6 and then 11, but nothing.
I tried asking this question at the Belkin Community boards and all I got was an article that told me to change the channel, which I had already tried, and moving the router away from the floor and away from walls, which I tried just now and that didn't do anything either.

Not that he can see this but I think I know what's happening. Juan and his brothers and cousins and uncles and second cousins and second uncles and third cousins are all trying to get online at the same time. It's overloading their Mexican made router which is taking a siesta.

Juan's tried everything he knows. Running over it with a lawnmower, driving around with it on a lawnmower, putting it on top of a lawnmower while pushing the lawnmower.
