I haven't noticed that but my buddy made the same observation. Or maybe you're both playing while being sleepy.

Not discounting that, as I sleep in an infrequent, disjointed fashion. But as I said, its only that map. Physics are normal everywhere else. Even in your vid, you seem to move faster on that segment, almost like you sped the vid up by about .5 on playback.

I would guess its some form of glitch, but it's too much fun to report. I honestly wish either all maps played like that all the time, or you had an option to play normal or accelerated.

And I'm a little less geeked about Osiris Trials, now. I didn't understand that the wins had to be CONSECUTIVE for prizes. I figured they all counted so long as you don't suffer 3 losses (or 4, as I bought the deal for loss forgiveness). Went in with someone earler who got all super pissy because we didn't win (I'm not a particularly good PvPer, and the other guy never does Crucible ever, just raids) and as such, "screwed" the third guy out of his goodies. Granted, he talked like a douchebag who takes his gaming wayyyy too seriously, even in the face of others who may have "kids and bills and responsibilities and shit", but it still seems a tad unfair if you don't have a squad of 3 who can put real life on hold on a consistent enough basis to last 9 straight 5 win matches.

And did the Nightfall. Did I get a Gallajorn? Did I get an item to ascend some of my gear? Nope, I got yet another Patience and Time (which makes 5) Granted, it's a post DLC 334, and one thing I've always loved in gaming since Golgo 13 on the NES is the use of a good sniper rifle (he used his custom M16, but still, you had to snipe with it), but man, that sucks I haven't been able to up light on anything but my exotic gear so far, and I'm crippled on anything beyond a level 30 difficulty (the shielding on enemies is noticibly harder to chip away at 32. Enemies die all the same, but I'm drying a clip to break shields, and by the time I reload, unless someone else continues firing, they've recharged.)

And those Osiris opponents? Yeah, they were 33/34s. :(

Yeah I'm not even trying the Trials with randos. I barely like doing strikes with strangers and my general opinion on gamers online are they suck at gaming. It's not just skill level, they just do absurd things that don't lead to winning. I like to take control in a match and I expect people to listen after I coordinate tactics. Not an 'ego/elitist' thing, more like a Captain America 'I lead because I make sense' thing. When people listen things go well. When people talk and share info things go well. But overtime it isn't worth talking. Destiny, Halo, Battlefield - they all suck ass.

So I'd hit the Trials with at least one other bud or people would listen and talk.

I'm all for co-ordinated effort, but where I get gun shy is some a-hole trying to be a Sgt. or trying to lead the mission like actual lives are at stake. At the end of the day, I'm playing this video game for fun. We go in, we might end up getting a strategy going, and its laughs and jokes or a myriad of swearing if we get overwhelmingly curb stomped, but its more cathartic than angry. Like the other guy a friend of mine and I "screwed" out of his rewards... we had explained already that a) we had not yet run a ToO yet; this is literally our first drop. I play PvP, but usually control, as people have an objective besides wholesale slaughter to divide their attention between frags and hill captures, and the fact that its 6v6 chaos, and b) Simms literally does not do PvP ever. He said he tried it once and didn't like it too much, so, he literally did everything else. He raids with randoms and grinds on planets, but crucible has pretty much been a rarity, and as such, the Mercury map the trials run on was 100% new to him.

So, how'd the kid react? He proceded to act like things were "common sense" and get legit angry and disparagingly sarcastic. It was like he lives and breathes this shit.

And sadly, guys like that is partly WHY I can't get my regular crew to squad up (the other part is unwillingness to grind because of life/time constraints). Halo PvP, for example, is 90% to 95% private matches. We get our shots off, talk shit, its instant grat, and it's fun. As I've said before, I don't mind the grind. Its distracting to me. Not everyone feels the same about that. But we all agree that treating any of it like truly SFB takes all the wind out of the sails and it disengages everyone.

Me too.

Also wish the higher Prison rounds had the option of joining randoms, and not just the level 28 one. Still dont have any Armor Cores/Etheric Light, and they made it like raid stuff that pretty much only drops there... but I'm not interested enough to go on a forum recruiting mission everytime, and trying to solo even the 30 is just masochistic, let alone the 34 or 35.

My question is how it's possible to get one-shotted by PvE 32's as a 32, build up to 33 or 34, and STILL get one-shotted by 32's? Especially after trying to initially reach 32 from 30, and becoming more resistant to attack from 30s.

Being the same level means you can deal optimum damage to enemies, but otherwise they are still enemies that should be 'dangerous' rather than complete equals. They will still have weapons you have to be careful about.

Higher levels on the prison need to be open to matchmaking. Gonna be going nowhere if all I can do is first area.

They can also jack up the XP on that, too. Sitting on a lot of tokens and it's gonna be a while before I can start trading in for ships and marks.

Or, at the very least, let us exchange those tokens at any time for chest keys. Or at least glimmer. Or even give them the Commendations treatment and make them consumable items that feed Judgment rep.

Seriously won't need 15 ships (so far) when I'm finally able to turn them in, especially when only 3 are offered.

Bungie definitely needs to reconsider its matchmaking stance. Truth is, the Raids require just enough people where you cant always bank on THAT many friends playing and being game to raid.

The PoE is similar, but for the opposite reason in that the odds are your friends are probably already playing it with two other buddies of theirs.

First trip into the level 32 PoE throws you in the deep end big time. Unless you bang out some a couple of nightfalls and get lucky in the level 28 PoE and get some etheric light, you got your hands full.

First foray with the lfg app, too. 1 guy had a mic and knew what he was doing. Other was mute and hard to deal with. Got all the way to the end before we got tired.

Anyway, good to have either friends with coordination or some suped up exotics. Lesson learned.

This week is pretty rough. It throwing you immediately into a round with a level 28 boss--which is now all 32--is pretty brutal. Mechanics are the same, sure, but it's definitely a sudden, sharp step up in difficulty because of the level increase. Vex are generally rough anyway because of Hobgoblins instagibbing you, especially when trying to get mines, so three of the four rounds this week being in there doesn't help either. To top it all off, the end boss this week definitely requires a lot of coordination. Previous weeks have had a boss that just requires you to stay off the ground as much as possible for ten seconds to avoid the entire ground being damaging or a boss that cycles through elements on his shield and recharges it.

This week, you have to make sure you can communicate to ensure someone has the Jailbreaker buff--which also requires picking the god damn mob out of a pile of Vex and not killing it too early--dealing with an infinite flood of Vex, and trying to get damage in on a boss who has a lot of cover.

I promise this week was a bit of an outlier. It's probably fair to expect everyone to have a mic and to communicate, but other weeks have been pretty easily pick-uppable. I got through this week with a solidly communicating group of people I've never spoken to before or since.

I get by okay with Icebreaker, since it lets me chip away without having to run around and grab ammo. People always want Gjallahorn in there, and it certainly makes things easier, but it's not mandatory.

This is a rough week, for sure, but you should give it another shot and hopefully find two people that can actually communicate. If not or it doesn't go well, don't get too discouraged, this week is kind of rough.

Woot! 34!

Still need to grind glimmer and rank up the other characters in the Banner. Won't make out with all six Etheric Light, but I don't have to work tomorrow, so I can at least get five. With that, I can push up some alternate gear so I don't have to wear one specific combo to maintain my light, and maybe ascend my Oversoul Edict. I should actually raid more to max that gun as well... but don't run pulse rifles that often and only really think about it if I'm doing the Omnigul strike.

ClockShot and Dark One: what kinda hours you guys keep? Maybe we can drop in a PoE round sometime. Will warn you, I still don't have a Gjallahorn, but continues the running gag of getting Patience & Time... it's like the game isn't so much giving me the rifle as it is taunting me with those words. "Oh, you want a Gally? Patience & Time, young grasshopper! "

Wooo! Under the wire, and thanks to the "catch up" system in place for leveling secondary characters in Iron Banner, I *just* got all six etheric lights before the reset hit (about 10 min to spare). Had a scare for a bit, because my game bugged and it wouldn't let me buy the level 5 ones for awhile. As it happened while attempting to buy #3, I initially assumed Bungie capped it at two per player and not per character, and just didn't explain that clearly (as they are apt to do). However, after a few characfer swaps and a crash ("weasel"), it seemed to have fixed itself, and I was able to proceed as planned.

I'm really glad there was an alternative to scouting strangers for high level Prison runs, or the longshot (for me) of getting enough wins in the Trials. I like playing PvP, but I'm not particularly good at it. Too bad I'll have to wait another month to ascend more gear.

Brace yourselves for one of the most infuriating interviews in gaming history. Bungie's Luke Smith, usually a cool guy, attempts to defend The Taken King's SKU approach and pricing.
______________________________________________________________

Eurogamer: So it may seem like a small thing but you're adding exclusive content to the game - three new dance emotes - that players can't get unless they rebuy the main game and the two existing DLCs. Is that right?

Luke Smith: There is no way right now for you to get the new dance emotes without doing that. Those are Collector's Edition exclusive. We've set some stuff aside for that edition specifically to really make it appeal to fans who have engaged with the game already and also to people that will enter the game this autumn.

Eurogamer: Can you see that some fans are confused that you're asking them to buy stuff they already own?

Luke Smith: Yeah, I can totally empathise with those people. But the Collector's Edition is a pretty cool package for people who want to pursue that stuff. Otherwise, surely what you're saying is that you would want to buy them separately, right?

Eurogamer: Well, yeah. I would rather do that - pay a few pounds or dollars or whatever - than spend money on things I already own.

Luke Smith: [Laughs] Well, we have nothing more to talk about regarding your opportunity to spend extra money in Destiny, other than The Taken King and the three versions we've announced.

Eurogamer: Is Bungie considering selling customisation items such as this separately? Or is that against the studio's philosophy for the game?

Luke Smith: Rather than comment on the Bungie philosophy, here's what I'll tell you. If someone made a golf clap emote, I would spend money on that. Like when someone falls in the Vault of Glass. At the moment I bow when I'm trying to mess with them. So... I empathise with some of the things you're saying.

Eurogamer: I feel like you should put some of these things that you are empathising with into practice.

Luke Smith: We have nothing to announce today. We're reading the forums and the reactions to this week's announcements. We will continue to discuss player feedback with respect to the the game and Collector's Edition content.

Eurogamer: Taken King costs £39.99, which is almost same as base game. Does its content justify that?

Luke Smith: I'm going to use American dollars, because British pounds are just foreign to me...

Eurogamer: Literally foreign.

Luke Smith: Indeed, an ocean away. So, purchasers get a big, rich campaign. Fully voiced cinematics and the story of what happens when an angry alien god wages war on a solar system, all with a satisfying conclusion. You also have a new subclass to pursue and unlock. We also have a bunch of new strikes - we're not yet talking about how many - and a new raid. We're showing two new PVP modes and four PVP maps this week, and it's a fairly safe bet we're not done yet showing things off. So I'm fairly excited about the value proposition. We're calling this a major expansion because it is. We're giving people a whole new place to go, that new destination...

Eurogamer: I get that it is big but it is also the same price as the base game. That had four areas rather than one and more missions than the Taken King. Why is it the same price? [Thank god he shut that PR bullshit down - KxT]

Luke Smith: All I can do is answer that with the same thing I just gave you... We're really comfortable with the value we're giving to players this autumn. I believe that once we begin to share more, players will be even more excited. And for existing players it also comes with the Founder's pack with a new Sparrow, shader and emblem.
2

Oryx, father of Crota. He isn't too pleased with you.

Eurogamer: Just not the emotes.

Luke Smith: It doesn't because they come with the Collector's Edition.[!! :fu:]

Eurogamer: Final question on prices -

Luke Smith: Is it also the final question on the emotes?

Eurogamer: I'm not going to mention them again. I can't get them.

Luke Smith: But you can if you buy the Collector's Edition.

Eurogamer: I'm not going to buy the game and the two DLCs all over again.

Luke Smith: Okay, but first I want to poke at you on this a little bit.

Eurogamer: Poke at me?

Luke Smith: You're feeling anxious because you want this exclusive content but you don't know yet how much you want it. The notion of spending this money is making you anxious, I can see it -

Eurogamer: I do want them. I would buy them -

Luke Smith: If I fired up a video right now and showed you the emotes you would throw money at the screen.

Eurogamer: What I'm saying is that fan frustration is not because they don't understand the proposition. It comes regardless of how cool the exclusive content is. The frustration - and mine as a fan - is that the method of acquiring it requires me to re-buy content I bought a year ago.

Luke Smith: [Long pause] It's about value. The player's assessment of the value of the content. []

Eurogamer: Final question on prices - The Taken King and everything released so far comes at a significant price reduction for people who want to jump in to Destiny this September. All games do Game of the Year editions now - I understand that, that's not really an issue. But when you look at the reduction involved - it's barely any more than just buying The Taken King solo.

Luke Smith: This autumn we want to have a moment of convergence where players like you and me who are engaged with Destiny can match up with people who are just joining in, who didn't pick the game up last year for one reason or another.

It's also important to remember the temporal valuation of content. If you played during The Dark Below, you were playing when there were Swordbearers everywhere. That's now gone and you can't recapture that now.[:fu:] Some things are being left behind as we move forward.[:n:] It's the same with House of Wolves, right now, with the Fallen showing up all over the solar system. Those things are going to be less relevant as we move forward and the Taken are everywhere.

We don't have a way to go back in time and experience those things again. So the players who were there can say 'I was here when...' and 'I did it when it was new'. [Says no Destiny player ever. - KxT]

I wish I had a way of better telling players that I was there back then. That I had a better way of embracing the legacy of my time with the game. This is something that we on the development team talk about all the time. It's really important that we figure out ways to embrace the legacy that players created in the first year... I'm not going to talk about how we're going to do that but it is right in the forefront of our brains. It's missing right now in Destiny. [Abstract lunacy - KxT]

But its a retarded concept that Bungie has taken. Why is there not a collector edition for the expansion alone that would offer these rewards? Seems rather dumb.

Tom Guycott

Part that stuck out to me, besides the obvious (honestly, don't care about the dance emotes, but the concept is a shitty precident to set) is the trying to spin the "I was there when..." nonsense, when there really isn't some token form of nostalgia.

I mean, i can see if PvP maps went away, or certain exotics stopped dropping after so long, but I still have access to the same shit people got at launch, and I just got it after Christmas. Especially the "Swordbearer" example... Bungie initially made it sound like their removal was accidental and unintentional, and that the Wolf events "won't replace those"... then, their "fix" was to just mention swordbearers still appear in one scripted campaign mission and proceeded to say the wolves are indeed replacing the swords.

It may end up this will (eventually) be much ado about nothing, as, after all the PR spin, vague announcements, silence on questions that let speculation run wild, backpedaling, and possibly even straight up misinformation, this stuff will be worked out and the people who already own shit won't feel slighted by the company trying to attract new players by adding shiny bells and whistles and telling current players they're just SOL.

Granted, getting bent up over extra dances sounds trivial, but the idea of adding content that won't be available to people who already bought the thing unless is a little unnerving. It's up there with Jim Sterling's rant about the exclusive Amiibo content for Splatoon- content unavailable by any other means than to track down a physical toy that Nintindo themselves made rarer than pure precious stones.

I wish it didn't have to be about the money but it is. I got peer pressured into getting the DLC (£35) so I didn't think too much about it but this is just madness. Trying to charge £40 for something we know will be sparse as anything in a season when there are going to be more massive games than anything is madness.

I'm dipping into Destiny quite a bit just as my everyday shooter, thanks to a friend as well, but there is always this air of Bungie loving the smell of their own farts. They speak so highly of their epic worlds that always feel really bare and confusing. People get really, really into Halo lore when I've played every Halo game and still have no clue what's going on between go here, go here, go here, fight the Proper Noun

Bungie backtracked on some of the stuff previously announced for the upcoming expansion pack. Got rid of the issue or needing to rebuy stuff again and lowered the pack's price.

Today, however, Bungie and Smith posted a large update on its website apologizing for the comments writing, "Reading my interview with Eurogamer and imagining it came from some random developer of a game I love – that random developer looks like an Asshat. But that Asshat was me – and those words rightfully anger you. I'm sorry." The update also reveals that the content Destiny's most dedicated fans want – the in-game emotes and armor shaders – will be available for $20 without the the need to re-buy the original game and the DLC.

But you see; the DLC is $40. And now we can get the CE content for another $20. So in the end we'll be paying *drumroll*

...The price of the CE package.

Nothing has changed except transactional semantics. Well played, Activision.

So, TTK collectors edition will be $80. TTK is $40, animation of a man dancing is $20, so the full original destiny and the two expansions are also valued at $20. The temporal value of a dance animation.

Of course this will translate to £20 here, about $30.

Edit: Also, are the playstation missions still playstation exclusive? Will they always be? Are you folks playing Destiny with LESS content than I am?

Bungie recently hired the creator of Destiny's subreddit as their new community manager for the game.

The creator of the subreddit for Destiny has leveraged his message board helpfulness into a paying gig at Bungie. The Destiny developer has hired a new community manager, and it went straight to a leader in one of the game's largest communities to do so.

In a post on Bungie's site, Chris Shannon (known as "Cozmo23") was introduced in his new role. "I now aim to better serve the larger Destiny community alongside those who create and maintain the game," Shannon said.

He continued "My job is to be your voice, or at the very least your interpreter, filtering the firehose of information on Bungie.net, as well as on social media. I’ll also be empowering all of you to keep creating the great community content that we all enjoyed throughout year one."

Yeah... I still don't have a Gjallahorn.

I would have preferred not so much a nerf for Thorn as a physical way to counteract the burn. If everyone could wear some form of armor/class mark so that cheap shit chip damage doesn't work, people will stop using that as the go-to for lack of aim.

Its not intuitive to me; matter of timing. I end up backed out of the game instead of opening the snap menu, all while the game is still happening. Coincidentally, this is also why I'm not adept at fighting games like KI.

Point is, I'd have snapped it with my phone too. And I'd believe it was supposed to be Gally because of course my luck rolls that way. I could *finally* get my hands on one, and this is when they decide to nerf it so it gets yanked from Xur... and now I will finally get it in a random drop now that its power has cut.

alvarado52
07-17-2015, 11:16 PM
Makes sense though....why would Xur NOT be selling a weapon this week? My initial reaction was "he was selling the Gally", so I actually do believe it, even if its a shitty thing for Bungie to do.

Then again, it seems like Bungie has a "whack-a-mole" approach to this game in general, with things getting nerfed whenever they rise to popularity.

Tom Guycott
07-18-2015, 09:16 AM
Yeah, popular and cheap aren't really the same thing. The issue with the Thorn or shotguns or auto rifles or Gallys or anything else isn't so much that "ZOMG theyr totes OP, guyz!", it's that there isn't some skillful way to counterbalance someone using the perks (not necessarily literal item perks) of the weapon as a crutch for being unskilled. Why try to land 2-3 aimed headshots with a good scout rifle when I can use the (easy target here) Thorn to land almost a half a clip of wild, unaimed body shots and let the burn do the work? The Vex isn't even *that* effective from errant fire, and they're way harder to get. Why not point and fire a rocket into a general direction and have it hit somewhere near my target and have it shoot faster than reaction avoidance time allows, and either kill for me from the explosion itself, the blast radius, or the after effect... instead of one I literally have to "aim"?

People are going to naturally gravitate to such "fire and forget" options. Hell, every post HoW shotgun I have rerolled has auto fire so I don't "need" to use Invective. But the answer isn't to keep changing the balance of the classes. That will just make people find the new exploit, and then THAT will be the next "wahh, overpowered!" The better solution would be to find a way to counteract the OP... like the bright red tell from an aimed sniper's scope stops most players from going ghost as a hunter and camping invisibly for the entire match: it's not a gimmie.

Kalyx triaD
07-18-2015, 03:02 PM
Well I think that would lead to a game that's very hard on everybody. Time to kill would be quick if you buffed every weapon. It would be easier to nerf a few big offenders.

Tom Guycott
07-19-2015, 03:37 AM
My question, though: how exactly is making the launcher even rarer by pulling the purchace and making it weaker on top going to help prevent people from using Gally as a LFG prereq? It is already ingraned as the measuring stick by which all other rockets are measured, and unless it's nerfed down to Sultan territory, that likely isn't going to change. I'm not seeing the logic of the explanation on that part.

alvarado52
07-19-2015, 03:41 AM
Here's something Bungie is apparently forgetting: There's a fuckin PvE aspect to this game. Why would you nerf a Gally exactly? Is Crota complaining too much about it being OP?

I run consistently with a team that have 3-4 Gallys, and it doesnt make Raids any easier. We still need to time shots, we still need communication.

ClockShot
07-19-2015, 07:24 AM
The fact that people are running the Prison with a Titan with the weapons of light bubble + a maxed out Gally = taking down the boss really, REALLY fast. And since the Thorn is the preferred weapon of choice for the Trials because the DoT there is stupid powerful.

The gang over at Bungie believes that's not how you should be playing the game. And gotta do things the hard way. Now the fun part is trying other guns and looking for those small exploits. Hence my point with the Hopscotch Pilgrim a few posts back and how it wrecks in PvP these days.

To be honest that's an issue with bosses that aren't challenging so much as having bloated HP and cheap gimmicks (strong mooks, annoying challenges). Of course people would find a way to kill the bosses as fast as possible rather than find out how to survive boss encounters and master the challenges.

Bungie: "Let's make a boss that burns the floor for 15 seconds of unavoidable chip damage!"
:everyone starts running Warlocks with Angel:
Bungie: "Oh, well *that* wasn't supposed to happen!"

What did you *think* would happen? Was everyone supposed to huddle together with their thumbs up their asses? That's child game 101; if the floor is lava, you don't touch the floor!

Also, killing bosses, as Kalyx put it "as fast as possible" is how you counteract a time sink. Not everyone has an hour to spend throwing puny bullets at a guy who almost instantly re-shields. Blow that motherfucker up in ten minutes!

But seriously, I still feel there should be balance in PvP in other ways besides buffing/nerfing weapon classes.

For example, a person using the Titan was mostly going through with Fist of Havoc until the Saint-14 came on the scene. Then, that gave a reason to actually USE a bubble vs other players, as overzealous shotgunners would charge to their blind dooms while shooting where the target used to be. However, there is still the fact that nobody can shoot through the dome, out or in, and also a well placed grenade can get a multikill off of those who had a false sense of security and low/empty shields and/or crap armor. It has pros and cons. You have to think about what you're doing if you use or attack against it. THAT'S what there needs to be more of.

According to Bungie, the different in-game currency will be getting merged into a single currency called "Legendary Marks" as part of the upcoming Taken King DLC pack and Year Two support plans.

The weekly limit on the amount of money earned per week is also getting dropped but not the amount that can be hold at any one time.

One of the most significant confirmations to come out of this morning’s Destiny: The Taken King livestream was news that the game will no longer draw distinctions between Crucible Marks and Vanguard Marks. Instead, with the upcoming launch of The Taken King and Year Two of Destiny, Bungie will aggregate both types of currency under the single title of Legendary Marks.

Up until now, the two different forms of Marks have been earned separately through two types of gameplay. Crucible Marks were earned by completing matches in the competitive multiplayer modes, while Vanguard Marks were given to players who engaged in the narrative-based, co-op gameplay. Some vendors would only accept a specific type of Mark in exchange for their wares, but now all relevant shops will accept Legendary Marks.

Guys have speculated that sense the Year 2 upgrades literally change the weapons perks (almost a new exotic, in one case a new paintjob), they simply haven't come up with Year 2 adjustments for the rest and they will eventually. It's not just upping the damage.

Bungie also revealed the gifts for Year One VIP members in the form of a DLC pack called "Founder’s Fortune Pack."

Included in the pack is a set of black and grey tiger-striped items, including the Be Brave emblem, the Old Guard shader, and the S-32 Ravensteel Sparrow. Also included is the Brave Ghost shell, which breaks from the color palette of the other items with an orange and pale yellow color scheme. No associated perks were shown in the reveal video, but it would be safe to assume that Bungie wouldn’t be giving their “very important players” items that were outdated before they even became accessible.

Recent court case involving the ex-Bungie composer ended up leaking a few current plans Bungie has for the game (and series).

Baring any sudden changes, a major expansion pack will arrive in 2017 and 2019, nothing major planned for 2018, and Destiny's sequel in 2020.

For those with a PS3 or Xbox 360 that has a hard drive in the 20GB or less range, Activision is giving away free 3S GB USB hard drives to allow the upcoming expansion pack to be playable.

Only requirement is you have to be an existing and active player in the game to qualify for it. Requests have to be made before Taken King arrives in order to be eligible as well.

With Destiny's new expansion The Taken King launching next week, the game just received a new update that is too large to install on last-gen consoles with less than 20GB of storage built in.

When this was announced last month, Activision announced that a limited number of affected last-gen players, who could demonstrate that they were still "existing and active" Destiny players, would be offered a solution to their situation.

According to GameSpot, one player who reached out to Activision was mailed a 32GB, USB 3.0 drive. While the Destiny update currently can't be run by having the files installed to USB, Activision will apparently soon be releasing a patch to allow the files to be installed and run from a USB device.

Bungie states they are well aware of the problems the recent 2.0 patch has caused with some of the quick fixes involving items being pushed back to a later release date.

• Some players are able to access Emblems and Shaders from the Weapons Pack, SUROS Arsenal Pack and Collector's Edition Exotic Guardian Class Items before 9/15/2015. All items will be made available to eligible players on 9/15/2015. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion that may have been caused.

• We're aware of an issue where Patrols and Faction-specific Quests are not granting the expected rewards upon completion. These rewards will be granted as expected for these activities starting on 9/15/2015. Patrols and Faction-specific Quests completed before this time will not retroactively grant rewards.

• We're aware of an issue where players may experience a Destiny application crash/freeze when multiple status effects are active. We're actively investigating this matter.

• Xbox One players who have purchased The Taken King Collector's Edition Upgrade via the in-game prompt are unable to install the added content at this time. We're aware of this matter and are actively investigating.

I know it's not a major thing, but the voice change is kinda... jarring. Imagine, say, Batman The Animated Series gets re-aired on Cartoon Network, only they replace Kevin Conroy with Paul Reubens... and he doesn't "Pee Wee" it up or anything; he uses his natural voice, and does a really good job... just sounds NOTHING LIKE *the* Goddamn Batman , in spite of being the same character.

The Crow T. Robot syndrome.

It is audibly like someone chipping a section of blue paint off a wall, and just patching it with teal and calling it a day. Yeah, it's still technically "blue", but you could've matched it better with different paint.

Even that would have been a smoother transition, but it seems like they have some thing about one ghost per guardian for some reason I have yet to see expounded upon anywhere. Orphaned ghosts just fly around aimlessly, and I haven't seen anything about the other way 'round, where a guardian loses his little light. Maybe that's another subject for another expansion.

Anyway, voice casting. I know he's another guy in everything- but Steve Blum would have been a closer shade of blue. Not spot on, but his "generic" anime voice would have sounded a lot more similar, and less like an excited preteen.

At the chamber in the tower where the class bosses hang out there's these terminals on the wall that have 'blueprints' of all the exotics you got. You can 'resurrect' these will a little money (marks). You can also purchase Year 2 versions of SOME old exotics. This is another workaround for the vault space issue, only that you'll pay money to keep them coming back if you break them down.

Speaking of exotics, the Titan has sweet shit coming for Year 2. You can scope out all the new exotics right now:

The Year 1 playlist has a 6v6 hopper that randomly cycles Clash and Control.

This is an inverse of sorts with how DLC is often handled in that it's often people who got the DLC didn't play them in a public playlist. You have to go to some special DLC Playlist while the general population only got it if purchasers matched up. I almost never played Halo 4 DLC in genpop playlists because of this.

This should just be reposted in this thread occasionally. Because they are. And I was once a dyed-in-the-wool scout rifle guy myself (I really wish there was more utility in the actual game for sniper rifles, other than the few useful moments from strikes... and I'm no good with them in PvP because I rarely have a use for them when a PR/SR and a good shotgun does most of the dirty work, and thus, no practice time)

I got copious amounts of Bad JuJu (... there is a pun there that translates to real life, but it isn't relevant here), and it does the trick when I need some quick super boosting against mooks, but it's stopping power has always been pretty shit, even after boosts. It was one of the lesser pains in the ass to complete bounty for, and I think I've gotten at least twelve of those minimum.

Never really got on the Red Death train, even though it can sort-of counter Thorn assholes in Crucible play. Rather use my exotic elsewhere.

The perfect stability on the HP nearly made it a 3-burst scout rifle, then they did the range tweak which knocked that back a bit, but then the the damage boost to get people into pulses. Brutal midrage slugger. I hated not being able to change my scope, but that was a small price to pay for tight firing with super light recoil. As such, it took skill to pull off headshot bursts, but you're rewarded with accuracy without having to worry about muzzle jump AND strafing.

I rolled Titan my first go and LOVE the shotgun play so far. I was stun locking a Devil Captain(?) with it and had enough ammo in the pulse rifle to finish him.

However, the good thing about both is now that we're much stronger, you can get a group of guys together and try to the perfect raid trophy/achievement or whatever it's called.

As far as the arena goes, you can run the bosses and try to get all the ships and shaders. However, I'm not sure how you score the tokens now that there are no Wolves running around anymore. Petra will still give out keys for leveling up the Queen's Wrath, but that's it.

Level 15 now, STILL Loving the hell outta this game. Just took down the Soul of Crota and have a new strike mission on deck.

The Soul of Crota fight was rather intense. Had to level and come back to it.

Buddy had a Oryx checkpoint and started with him first. Made some mistakes at first, but I got in a groove and we took him down.

But, I gotta send my ps4 out for service. Just keeps ejecting the disk randomly and I don't wanna get screwed out of something important in destiny.

Time to dust off the PS3.

Sucks having my PS4 our for service. Wanna get my Ace of Spades, get my guys to help me with the Black Spindle, do the first two thirds of King's Fall.

The Destiny conspiracy theorists are on to something about the Sleep Stimulant. Hoping I get my PS4 back in time and I can try a few things.

I riff about how Combined Arms could return as a new big team battle mode. Read my nerdcore.

Now I wanna share my thoughts on a revised Combined Arms mode rebooted into Rencounter mode. Rencounter's just another word for contest, though it seems like something Shaxx would call it. So let's talk about Rencounter.

Crucible Mode: Rencounter
Fiction: Just as the Vanguard claims zones for Patrol, Lord Shaxx sets out teams of Guardians to battle to see who claims large zones for the Crucible. This bouts are the origin of Crucible maps.
Gameplay Translation: Big team battle over large maps that merge Crucible PvP with Patrol style mission/events. Both teams will compete in four randomly generated missions that will climax in a 'Crucible Event' boss battle against AI. This mode randomly chooses preset missions as well as the ending bosses event. Bosses may be map specific, and at least one boss event can be player instigated (saving that idea for later in this post). Due to the nature of this mode, it's taken to be semi-competitive. Rencounter is designed to invoke unique large player count experiences while also expanding Crucible lore.
>> Four random missions, one boss event per game.
>> Level Advantages Disabled
>> Matchmaking
>> Vehicles On
>> Enemy AI Enabled
>> 8v8

Of course the big takeaway here is this isn't simply 'Big Team Clash'. The mission/event structure is meant to evoke the feel of Patrol while filling the vacant large multiplayer void of the Crucible. So it's best to detail how goals work.

- Once launched, 15 or 30secs passes before the first randomly chosen mission. This allows for 'freeroam skirmishes' between the teams, setting the mood for the match. "Get a feel for your rivals!" as Shaxx would surely say.
- The first mission kicks off. The first team to complete the mission takes the round. The game doesn't reset between rounds, another free skirmish ensues until the next mission activates.
- Characters from the Tower and Reef introduce the missions, just like Patrol. All players hear the same voiceover.
- Heavy ammo and vehicle spawns between rounds.
- After four rounds, a Map Event occurs. These will be boss battles, where a powerful AI boss spawns between the teams. The team that deals the most damage to it will win the boss battle. Coordinate damaging the boss while holding the other team at bay!
- The boss will not call reinforcements. 16 players, a boss AI, and a bunch of critters running around may be taxing. Besides, from a point of view the enemy team are essentially the reinforcements. Of course a battle drunk man like Shaxx would find this thrilling.
- The team who wins the majority rounds wins the game. Personal aside, I would probably play something like this all day.

Now let's talk about some mission ideas I have in mind. I'm thinking of PvP versions of actual Patrol missions, as well as transplants of basic Crucible modes refitted for Rencounter's large game space and player count. Remember that these are chosen randomly one at a time for four rounds. Try not to read the descriptions in Shaxx's voice.

- Clash: "Reach your quota before the enemy forces!" Unlike Clash proper, completion is gauged by Patrol style percentage counter.
- Control: "Spread out, take those zones!" An alternative Control; Five zones appear and you must hold them long as you can for the duration of the mission. Unlike Combined Arms Control, zones will be outside of structures, promoting more a vehicular and chaotic experience.
- King Control: "Converge and flush out your enemies!" A single zone appears, bringing all 16 players into an epic brawl.
- Flash Dance: "I hear all you Guardians know a few steps. Entertain me." It seems Cayde wants a dance off. Fill the percentage meter by dancing together uninterrupted. Should you sacrifice your team's gain to put a stop to enemy dancing?
- Charge Race: "Let the Light guide your speed, Guardians." Ikora wants a rally between the two teams. Hit all the Charges in a row and collect energy before the enemy team.
- Hunted: "He has a price on his head. Better off dead." Banshee marked one player on both teams as VIPs. The goal is obvious.
- Orb Farm: "Let's see how much Light runs through you, Guardian." Zavala wants your team to generate a set number of orbs. For this mission super energy is in Mayhem mode.
- __________: "Don't just read this thread, come up with your own missions and comment below!"

Assuming that would be a finished list of missions, they would be chosen in random order until four rounds have passed. So now let's talk the Rencounter climax boss battle. A boss will appear after four missions (unless it was a blowout in which case the dominating team will simply win). Always in the center of the map, and always sporting Year 1 fat HP. The two teams must try to deal the most damage before it dies. As a balancing tool, a team doing massive damage in a short amount of time will catch the most attention from the boss. And of course, you can attack the other team to scramble their assault. The bosses can be chosen from all five enemy races.

And that's Rencounter, a refurbished Combined Arms that merges a large player count, big maps, Patrol-like missions, and a boss battle for a unique Destiny experience. In another thread I may talk about Destiny Vehicles 2.0.

Oh yeah, that tidbit above about a player instigate boss battle? How about if players have close games/scores for all four rounds, it increases the chance for a special boss battle...

"You've all been so impressive... Now show me what you got!"

That actually sounds really fun and something I would play quite often. It is a good mix of PvE and PvP that somewhat blurs lines (players being boss reinforcements) that I think more players who may be PvP shy would buy into. Also allows for more diversity/tactics to be employed with a larger team.

Next update will be adding in a microtransaction system for the game. No plans at the moment to have anything besides emotes be available for purchase.

Bungie has announced that they're finally arriving. Starting on October 13, Destiny players will be able to buy "Silver" via PSN and Xbox Live and then use it at Destiny's new Eververse Trading Company, where they'll be able to buy new emotes. Players will be given a small free batch of silver so that they can try the system out and pick up "an emote or two" for free.

There really isn't much more information than that at the moment. Bungie hasn't indicated how much Silver will cost, nor how expensive the 18 new emotes will be. While the studio does note that these emotes "won't impact the action game in any way," it isn't clear whether the Eververse Trading Company's catalog will stick to aesthetic goods or if it will ever expand to include things like armor, weapons, or gameplay boosts.

In the announcement, Bungie emphasizes that this program will serve to expand on the "surprising" new content that the Destiny fanbase has enjoyed in The Taken King. The studio specifically notes the plan is to use these microtransactions to pay for "more robust and engaging" updates from Destiny's live team, including an increased focus on world events.

More than likely it'll be emotes, shaders, and ships. And hopefully it stays that way.

The new release system for the last two expansions is much more important news, though. Split up into new Questlines for free. Nice.

All ships/shaders available are earnable. Just go to the tv screen and look.

Aside from emotes, only think I can think of being up for sale are the new special strike rewards. Buddy of mine got the Solar Flayer cloak. I'm jealous.

Ships and shaders being earnable doesn't mean they can't make new ones for the new kiosk. Strike rewards won't happen since people have come to expect legendary gear to produce marks and material that would upset the in-game economy. Emotes, ships, and shaders have next to nothing to do with the economy (nothing happens when broken down) so they're very likely to be added to microtransaction as non-gameplay items. They're all cosmetic.

Just completed the Darkblade fight last night. That has to be the coolest boss encounter in a game I have played in YEARS!

Currently at light level 230ish and progressing. I enjoy how most strikes don't take FOREVER but do take some time and effort.

I have yet to find anything better than pulse rifles. I may not be full auto, but every damn strike, I have an average of 40% precision kills and usually rank 1st in total kills :D

The game is mad fun.
