Buddy Roberts, one-third of the legendary Fabulous Freebirds, passed away at age 65.

Roberts first made an impact on wrestling in the 1970s, working his way through the territories as one-half of a tag team called The Hollywood Blonds with Jerry Brown. The duo racked up championships across the United States before parting ways late in the decade.

As the 1980s began, so did The Fabulous Freebirds. The technically sound Roberts joined forces with the charismatic Michael “P.S.” Hayes and the hard-hitting Terry “Bam Bam” Gordy, and Southern wrestling was never the same. The trio ran roughshod over the South before landing in Dallas and World Class Championship Wrestling.

On Christmas night 1982, The Freebirds made history — not only for becoming the first WCCW Six-Man Tag Team Champions, but also more notoriously for turning against Kerry Von Erich, setting off a rivalry that is remembered as one of the greatest in history. The battles between The Freebirds and The Von Erich family are legendary for their sheer brutality and the passion they inspired in Texans.
In the midst of the Freebirds–Von Erichs war, Roberts developed a rivalry with Iceman King Parsons. It began when Roberts cut off Iceman’s signature braids, ultimately culminating with a Hair vs. Hair Match at Reunion Arena in June 1983. Leading into the bout, Roberts taunted Parsons with a Nair-like substance he called “Freebird Hair Cream,” claiming he would take the rest of Parsons’ hair with it.

Roberts used nefarious tactics to win the match, only for the official to restart the bout, during which Parsons smeared the cream over his cranium. The Freebird writhed around the mat, clutching what was left of his once-luxurious blond hair, to the fans’ delight. (WATCH) Over the next few weeks, fans giggled as Buddy Roberts appeared on television wearing a blond wig held in place by boxing headgear, claiming his hair had grown back immediately. (WATCH)

After stints in WWE, AWA and Cowboy Bill Watts’ UWF, Roberts returned to WCCW, this time as the manager for the animalistic Samoan Swat Team. Buddy Roberts left the industry shortly after WCCW’s closing in the late 1980s.

That sucks. At least he's back hanging with Terry Gordy again up there. RIP Buddy

Now that leaves Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin as the remaining Freebirds alive.

Dang, there goes that fantasy triangle tag match of Original Hollywood Blondes vs. New Hollywood Blondes vs. West Hollywood Blondes.

BTW, who is "Maya" in your avatar? And why is the bounty $170 million?

I would've liked to have seen more of his work with Jerry Brown as a Hollywood Blonde.

he also worked as the "brother" of Johnny Valentine at one point.

Not that I know of, but at some point, they were in the same territory at one time.

Ive never cared for him or the Freebirds.

But I loved his angle with the wig. Kurt Angle ripped it off on smackdown a few years back.

BTW, who is "Maya" in your avatar? And why is the bounty $170 million?

Maya is a playable Siren class character in Borderlands 2. Maya is wanted for the crime of being a siren, the bounty on her head is $720,000,000,000, not $170,000,000. Sirens, in Borderlands lore, are considered to be “too powerful” by Hyperion Corp., which owns the planet of Pandora. This is because in the original game, Angel, another siren, helps players to unlock the vault and destroy The Destroyer, the main game’s final boss, and in the sequel helps them in their quest to kill Handsome Jack, Hyperion’s President and C.E.O., by leading them to her home, where she sacrifices herself so that the way to the Vault may again be cleared, so as to attempt possession of The Warrior before Handsome Jack, as it’s feared if Jack awakens it before the player does, he will use the Warrior to destroy Pandora.

Lilith was a playable character in the first game and was also a siren, and is at first known as “the Firehawk”, the first of the four original game’s playable characters that the player must seek in the sequel’s main story. Siren’s are considered dangerous because they use Eridium to fuel their powers, and Eridium is considered a form of currency and refined Eridium can be used to “slag” (that is, basically, to coat someone in purple/pink slime) enemies for a short time, during which all damage done to them is 2×-4× more powerful than normal.

Sorry to take this OT, but felt I should address this here as opposed to the VG forum.

Thank you for the explanation, Damninator! I would have never looked in the video game section, so extra kudos for being direct. :)
