WWE.com has learned WWE Champion CM Punk is currently undergoing surgery on his knee in Pensacola, Fla.

Last night, after Ryback drove him through a table, The Straight Edge Superstar took a late night flight to Florida for an emergency consultation with Dr. James Andrews. A review of his condition resulted in the WWE Champion’s immediate surgery today. (PHOTOS FROM RAW)

WWE.com will continue to report on Punk’s condition as more details become available.

Did Ryback do anything that would have injured Punk's knee?

I'm gonna lean toward this is a storyline and Punk's gonna come out on Raw next week selling the injury before being outed or just attacking Ryback and admitting that he "trolled" everyone.

This is going to be rough on him since he's drug free.

Yeah dunno how you'd injure your knee from a power bomb

I re-watched it. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. He immediately grabbed for the back of his head. Not the knee.

Either the injury was pre-existing and they are using the Ryback attack as a scapegoat to progress the storyline or something fishy happened that didn't make air.

But... he used some prescription drugs during his storyline with Jeff Hardy.

I would be amazing if he got addicted to opiates..

I hope this is just a work. Would hate for CM Punk to just have to forfeit the title.

Think its just a pre-existing injury and not something directly caused from yesterday. Also think he's tried a few times to ask for some time off but got rejected each time due to them wanting him to reach Cena's day record.

Not surprised though since he has been limping around in matches a lot recently but not severe enough to make it seem like he's seriously hurt.

Has Dr. James Andrews ever participated in a work before or had his name mentioned strictly for storyline purposes? He's a legit sports surgeon and I don't know if he'd want to get caught up in fake medical reports.

That was all a work.

WWE.com has updated its previous report with regards to Punk's emergency knee surgery and is now reporting that Andrews has completed a scope of Punk's knee to repair torn cartilage.

There still has been no recovery timetable released, but the fact that Punk underwent a fairly routine, minimally-invasive surgery should bode well for his prospects of competing at TLC and beyond.

Every Dr. James Andrews visit requires this sound effect.

I think it was in his match with Kane last week he was limping real bad at one point. It didn't seem like it was his normal selling either.

Yikes.

Hopefully Punk will make a safe and speedy recovery.

TLC is iffy but the rock at rumble just HAS to be on.

Bah. They're just trying to give Punk a "Broken Fricken Neck" moment. :shifty:

Appears the tlc match is off. It is now ryback and team hell no vs the shield.

Smart move.....bad butyrate though.

Not a work, Punk offered to work TLC but WWE wants him 100% for the Rumble.

Hell No & Ryberg vs. The Shield will replace.

Who cares. Punk is a horrible draw anyways. Nice 2.6 rating last night. Put the damn belt on Ryback.

Ryback and Miz caused that rating.

Punk is losing the ratings war to reruns of NCIS.

Ryback and Miz caused that rating.

Or maybe the idiot who made the decision to have a lie detector test main event Raw deserves some of the blame.

Punk seemed to be favoring his knee at Survivor Series after he and Cena put Ryback through the table with a double suplex. The table collapsed outward and looked like it hit Punk in the right knee. The rest of the match had spots that could have aggravated whatever hurt him in the first place.

Or it could be a work. A Patella Pipe Bomb.

Ryback and Miz caused that rating.

So what's your excuse for every other week that the ratings have been shit? Vanilla midget fail.

New main event set for TLC. It will be The Shield versus Ryback & Team Hell No! in a TLC match.

Lock Jaw

Apparently the TLC match is going to be pinfall/submission since they have nothing to grab. Don't know why ladders would be involved at all.

Could have switched it to a Tables match since they don't have one (and S.H.I.E.L.D. has been putting Ryback through tables), and upgraded Dolph/Cena to full on TLC.

If this thing doesn't end with The Rock vs. Ryback at Wrestlemania for the WWE title, they are doing it wrong.

Some good news to come from this is that Dolph Ziggler is probably in the main event for TLC now. I doubt the six man tag would go on last.

Last year's ladder match at TLC was a pinfall/submission match.

Lock Jaw

There was at least something to grab up there, as an excuse to have ladders involved.

Point. Hopefully they'll do that again this year.

They should put the tag titles on the line.
