From PWInsider:

WHY YOU MAY START SEEING SOME OLD FACES POPPING UP IN WWE
by Mike Johnson @ 10:58 AM on 12/8/2012

Don't be shocked to see some former WWE mid-card names returning to the company in the near future. In recent weeks, there has been a push from several top talents for the company to bring back some former talents that were released in the past but were solid hands.

The word is that WWE management has taken the suggestion to heart as the company has never been so thin on talent across the board. We are told they are looking at bringing back some names that can populate the mid-card to work with younger names and help bring them along, as well as provide some solid work on the show.

I am told there is a short list of potential names they are interested in, but the company has not yet begun contacting talents. That process could begin any time.

Would love DDP to come back. I guess he'll be somebody they'd at least ask considering they've used him here and there in the past year.

Unless they see him as being too old to contribute.

Maybe they're just looking at going for regular mid card talent that probably doesn't have the chance to get incredibly over, but can do a solid job for them in the middle of the pack and help get some of their other guys over.

John Morrison apparently left on fairly good terms. After taking some time off, he might feel re-energized and ready to give it another go. He'd be a fantastic addition to the mid-card. Also, it seems like something is going on that is helping guys who were hit-or-miss on the mic cut consistently good promos (I'm just going to be a smark and credit Paul Heyman for this). Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler, for instance, are doing really good work on the microphone lately. If someone has helped them become good promos, perhaps they can do the same for Morrison?

MVP would likely be given another shot if he wanted it. The question is if he does. He got to cross working in Japan off his career goals, so now he might be more willing to settle down and become a consistent mid-carder in the WWE. His health and age might make it unlikely he will be a full-time main eventer, but I guess you never know.

Carlito returning seems like one of those things that could really go either way. He talks a lot of shit, but there is no doubt that the dude is talented. Even right before he left the WWE he was still getting opportunities to get re-pushed. Depending on where he is mentally and physically, a full-time return could be quite welcome.

Chris Masters is apparently in bed with TNA, but I doubt he's on bad terms with the WWE. If there is no commitment between Masters and TNA, then I could see him returning to the WWE. He was getting really good before he left the WWE, and while he has two strikes against his name, I doubt they're going to be making the guy the centre of the company.

Scotty 2 Hotty worked a match on NXT against Heath Slater a few months back. While he must be getting up there in age, Scotty is a guy that could really help the guys he works with, and he could settle into a producer role quite quickly. I'm not sure what shape he is in, but if Grand Master Sexay were healthy, I'm sure he would be allowed to return to the WWE, as well. Throw in Rikishi for a Too Cool reunion. 3MB vs. Too Cool would feel like an Attitude era six-man tag.

Steve Blackman for random appearances would be cool. In today's age, Blackman could very easily be presented as the Chuck Norris of WWE -- showing up only when asses need to be severely kicked.

The New Age Outlaws would not be out of the question. I would actually quite like to see a program between them and The Prime Time Players. Another tag team I would not mind seeing returning is The Basham Brothers. Doug is 41, but he is still wrestling and was always a solid hand that could help polish guys' abilities. Danny Basham is only 35 years old, has competed all over the world, and was another solid hand when he was working in WWE. I'm sure JBL could put these guys over in a second from commentary by mentioning they were so tough he recruited them for his Cabinet.

I've got no clue what the fuck Johnny Jeter is doing these days, and nor does Wikipedia, but I would absolutely love to see him return. His work in OVW under Paul Heyman was brilliant heel stuff, and I have no doubt that he could be a solid mid-card addition to the WWE roster. The guy is only 30 years old.

If Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas were open to returning, and they could somehow get out of their ROH contracts, I would welcome them back as a tag team. In today's day and age, a Shelton Benjamin singles push could even work out, although I think he'll have a safer legacy in tag team competition.

They have spoken out against the company, and I don't think it is likely, but Paul London & Brian Kendrick returning as a tag team would make me very, very happy. If the WWE could get DH Smith to team with Tyson Kidd against Shawn Michaels' boys -- I would be a very, very happy camper.

Rhyno's name seems to be popping up a lot, and I've always been a bit of a fan of his. I would get behind a return of his, if it were to go down. The same goes for Tajiri, although he seems to be happy working in Japan. Didn't he and Finlay have, like, the best match ever recently or something (obvious hyperbole)? Would love to see the WWE rekindle that on SmackDown one week.

Jimmy Yang and Shannon Moore are only 31 and 33, respectively. I loved Jimmy Yang, but didn't really care too much for Shannon. They did make a solid, if thrown together, tag team on ECW, though. Bringing them back with a gimmick that makes sense could be a good addition to the main roster.

Oh yeah, there's that Colt Cabana guy, too. I'm sure Punk would not mind having Cabana by his side on the main roster. If Cliff Compton has not signed with TNA, bringing him back to help out Punk could be good, too.

I would love a Val Venis return. The man made everyone he got in the ring with look fantastic. He was a great seller, a solid hand in the ring, and it's not like he was shy on the mic or anything. Eventually, being used almost exclusively to put talent over wasted his potential, because it would mean almost nothing to beat the guy.

In a PG WWE, Val Venis would not really be able to return with the gimmick that got him over in the first place. Would a repackaged Sean Morley work in 2012? If he were brought in as part of a pissed-off veterans movement (a feud/alliance with The Shield?), it might work. A team with Christian could have some use, given that I can't see where Christian really fits into major programming at the moment. It just doesn't seem like Morley fits anywhere, if you catch my drift? Also, the dude got a gig as a road agent and fucked it up by the sound of it.

Would love to see him come back, and I would be a marky marky mark mark for it, but yeah.

I'm still not ruling it out as a possibility. Kharma's had a pretty rough year and a bit, and probably needs time to get herself mentally and physically back to where she wants to be. Triple H signed her, so he obviously sees her worth, and even if it was true that the WWE couldn't come up with long-term creative plans for her -- there's no doubt that time-to-time she would be a welcome addition.

Mr. Nerfect
12-08-2012, 11:32 PM
You could seriously make Kharma one of the biggest babyfaces in the WWE if an upset Vickie Guerrero berated her after failing to destroy AJ and Kharma just gave her the Implant Buster. If you didn't want to have her featured all the time, in fear of losing the mystique or having her do damage to the credibility of the rest of the females working, that would also be a pretty neat way to right her off storyline-wise.

Given her size and ability, I also think she could be a female that could believably challenge for the World Title. Maybe the WWE won't want to do a male vs. female match, and that sort of thing, but Kharma could at least cut promos about it, get a buzz about herself, and create some noise. Ziggler vs. Kharma for the World Title would make a very interesting second-tier main event (with back-story, too, given that Kharma and Ziggler interacted in the 2012 Royal Rumble).

What about Val Venis returning as jeans aficionado. Sean "All about jeans" Morley. He can wrestle in jeans with a jean jacket and make fun of his opponents for wearing pants. Then The Great Khali walks down to the ring and says,

because they don't make jeans his size!

I would probably enjoy that, Pintint. A lot. But would be pissed off when Sean "All About Jeans" Morley got squashed by Khali.

Although, Epico & Primo have been feuding with Great Khali lately...

What if Epico & Primo helped Sean "All About Jeans" Morley defeat Khali. Why? Morley has won their loyalty by selling them jeans at low, low prices. Rosa Mendes then becomes Sean "All About Jeans" Morley's new jeans model, and every week we get to see Rosa in tight ass-hugging jeans. This, however, leads to Sean "All About Jeans" Morley lapsing back into his old porn star ways, and making a movie with Rosa Mendes instead of filming the jeans commercial he promised she'd be in. Epico & Primo are all pissed off about Sean "All About Jeans" Morley doing that to their girl, and Sean "All About Jeans" Morley is all "Hey, that's why I'm Sean "All About Getting Into Those Jeans" Morley!"

Mr. Nerfect
12-08-2012, 11:44 PM
I would not mind Sean Morley returning and revealing that he spent his last few years training to be a magician. "Magic Morley" dresses as your classical magician, with the top hat, the wand and such. Bring up Emma from NXT as his assistant, and everyone speculates that something is going on behind the scenes, but Magic Morley denies that anything of the sort is happening.

As a little added bit of wrestling continuity -- Sean Morley's friend and former tag team partner Lance Storm trained Emma for in-ring competition.

Mr. Nerfect
12-08-2012, 11:49 PM
You could bring Sean Morley back as an old bitter "I could have been something if I were serious" heel coach to some struggling WWE Superstars. He would only get in the ring if need be, but otherwise he would just be at ringside slapping the mat for his boys. If they lost a match he would slap them in the face and call them disgraces. That sort of thing.

The Prime Time Players would make great clients for Coach Morley. Tyson Kidd would make a great client for a few weeks, before he has enough of Morley and kicks him after being berated one day. Kidd can then beat Morley on SmackDown one week and ride that going forward.

Magic Morley as a MAgic Mike ripoff.

Mr. Nerfect
12-08-2012, 11:51 PM
Coach Morley could launch bitter assaults at Kofi Kingston over Twitter and Tout -- "I used to smile all the time and look at me now! You're a joke, Kofi!" leading to Kofi eventually coming to blows with Morley on the air. This leads to an Intercontinental Title match between the two with JBL on commentary calling Morley a genius for antagonizing Kofi into defending the title. "One last money shot at glory, Val! Take it!"

Mr. Nerfect
12-08-2012, 11:51 PM
Magic Morley as a MAgic Mike ripoff.

That could ultimately be the pay-off for the storyline. We hear so much about Sean Morley's "magic shows" and then we finally get to see one and it becomes obvious that Morley is a stripper.

When I first saw this news the names that immediately sprang to mind were John Morrison and MVP.

Now that you guys mention it, Billy Gunn coming back would make sense since I'm sure I read somewhere that people were impressed with him back at the DX reunion.

I like them as a tag team. They are solid and work well, and mic skills aren't really as important for tag teams. Plus I LOVED their theme music.

Carlito, Dean Malenko and Rick Martel

That would be cool, as Carlito has gone on record that wrestling in the World Wrestling Council in Puerto Rico would be a little extreme for his body at this point. Malenko works as a road agent and trainer, whereas Martel has fallen off the radar completely.

Take it!"

You make a good point about Val Venis returning under his Chief / Coach Morley gimmick so that it fits in the PG era. Do Sean and Kofi have a previous history? Please educate me, Noid, because I like to learn!

Some of these WCW Uncensored match results were terrible...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncensored

Numbers in parentheses indicate the length of the match.

Main Event (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WCW_Main_Event) match: Alex Wright (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Wright) defeated Mark Starr (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Starr) (2:44)

Wright pinned Starr.

Main Event match: Steve Austin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stone_Cold_Steve_Austin) defeated Tim Horner (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Horner) (1:27)

Austin pinned Horner.

Main Event match: Stars and Stripes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stars_and_Stripes_%28wrestling_team%29) (Marcus Alexander Bagwell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buff_Bagwell) and The Patriot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Del_Wilkes)) defeated Dick Slater (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Slater) and Bunkhouse Buck (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bunkhouse_Buck) (9:34)

Bagwell pinned Slater.

The Blacktop Bully (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barry_Darsow) defeated Dustin Rhodes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dustin_Rhodes) in a King of the Road match (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professional_wrestling_match_types#King_of_the_Road)

The match took place in the caged-off trailer of Blacktop Bully's 18-wheeler truck, as it was driven (supposedly) around nearby roads. The object of the match was to climb to the top of the trailer's cage and sound a horn positioned there.
Bully sounded the horn to win.
This match was actually taped days earlier outside of Atlanta, Georgia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlanta) and was heavily edited due to WCW's strict no-bleeding policy in place at the time. Rhodes and Bully were fired for blading (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blading_%28professional_wrestling%29) during the match.

Meng (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonga_Fifita) (with Col. Robert Parker (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Fuller)) defeated Jim Duggan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Duggan) in a martial arts (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martial_arts) match (7:04).

Sonny Onoo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonny_Onoo) served as the Special Guest Referee (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professional_wrestling_match_types#Special_referee).
Meng pinned Duggan.

Johnny B. Badd (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marc_Mero) (with Roc Finnegan (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Roc_Finnegan&action=edit&redlink=1)) defeated Arn Anderson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arn_Anderson) (with Col. Robert Parker (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Fuller)) in a boxer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxing) versus wrestler match (0:22 4th round)

The match was billed as having ten three minute rounds, with a rest period of one minute between rounds. Anderson's WCW World Television Championship (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WCW_World_Television_Championship) was not on the line.
The rules stated that Anderson (as "the wrestler") could win by pinfall or submission, whereas Johnny B. Badd (as "the boxer") could only win by knockout.
Badd knocked out Anderson.

Randy Savage (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_Savage) defeated Avalanche (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Tenta) by disqualification (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professional_wrestling#Disqualification) (11:44)

Avalanche was disqualified when a "fan" (Ric Flair (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ric_Flair) in drag) attacked Savage.
The match ended in disqualification, despite the match and event card repeatedly being billed by announcers as no disqualification.

Rogers pinned Sting.

The match was fought under Falls count anywhere (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professional_wrestling_match_types#Falls_Count_Anywhere_match) rules. Harlem Heat's WCW World Tag Team Championship (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WCW_World_Tag_Team_Championship) was not on the line.
The match ended up in the concession stands, where the participants attacked each other with cotton candy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cotton_candy), soft drinks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soft_drink) and other nearby objects.
Knobs pinned Booker.

Hulk Hogan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hulk_Hogan) (with The Renegade (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Wilson_%28wrestler%29)) defeated Vader (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Van_Vader) (with Ric Flair (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ric_Flair)) in a Leather Strap match (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professional_wrestling_match_types#Strap_match) (18:21)

Hogan's WCW World Heavyweight Championship (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WCW_World_Heavyweight_Championship) was not on the line.
Before the show, Jimmy Hart (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Hart) had been kidnapped and tied up at an undisclosed location by Vader and Flair. During the match Hart escaped and joined Renegade at ringside.
During the match a masked man (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arn_Anderson) appeared and attacked Renegade, before returning to the back.
Hogan was given the win when he dragged an interfering Ric Flair and touched all four turnbuckles (despite Flair not being the legal opponent in the match).
After the match, a masked man (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_Savage) appeared again, seemingly siding with Vader and Flair, before unmasking to reveal himself as Randy Savage and embracing Hogan, Renegade and Hart. Savage had tied up the first masked man backstage, who was then revealed to be Arn Anderson.

Uncensored 1996 took place on March 24, 1996 from the Tupelo Coliseum (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BancorpSouth_Arena) in Tupelo, Mississippi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tupelo,_Mississippi).
Numbers in parentheses indicate the length of the match.

Page was originally supposed to face Johnny B. Badd (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marc_Mero) for the WCW World Television Championship (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WCW_World_Television_Championship), but Badd had lost the title to Lex Luger (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lex_Luger) prior to Uncensored and left the company shortly thereafter.
As per a pre-match stipulation Page was forced to leave WCW; had he won he would have regained the services of Kimberly as his manager and the remainder of a $16 million lottery prize he had won the year before.
Kimberly then joined forces with the Booty Man and became known as the Booty Babe.

C'mon, it was WCW. Uncensored being their "hardcore/no rules" ppv had to be a complete clusterfuck.

<font color=goldenrod>I demand a Funaki return.</font>

I actually thought about this the other day. Funaki coming out for a match randomly on SmackDown and winning by roll-up would be a pretty nice moment.

Actually, Funaki runs his own pro wrestling school in San Antonio Tx and an NWA franchise (hint hint Rodney Killa, among others. How about putting away the trampolines, red matts and being trained by Smackdowns numba 1 announcer!)

Maybe it's gonna be The Genius to team up w/Sandow that would be hella tight yo!

What about bringing Christopher Nowinski back to team with him? He could be Sandow’s apprentice.

It was reported Saturday that some familiar faces could be returning to WWE in the coming months as there has been a push from several top talents for the organization to bring back some "solid hand" wrestlers that were previously released. Two specific names in mind are MVP and Shelton Benjamin as organization officials have discussed bringing the former Superstars back to the fold.

Since being released from WWE in April 2010 in a cost-cutting measure, Benjamin has kept busy in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. MVP also competes in New Japan, where he teams with Benjamin under the tag team name "Black Dynamite."

Won't happen. He can't wrestle and he is going to be getting dumber and dumber due to CTE from his football days.

It was retarded that MVP got released in the first place. The guy was used so poorly at times that it seemed like they wanted an excuse to let him go. When they actually tried with him though he was fucking money. His feud with Matt Hardy was one of the most underrated WWE feuds in recent history.

If they bring him back in, I hope they don't just job him out and actually try to get him over.

Ugh no to Benjamin and Haas UNLESS it's exclusivly as a tag team. They are soooooo boring as singles competitors.

I agree, unless they reform with Heyman and he is their mouthpiece..... than either can work singles..... still would prefer them as the anchor of the 'returning' Tag Division....

Carlito as the leader of a stable with Rosa, Primo and Epico would be alright. As long as he's clearly the leader. He's entirely too good to be their equals.

I loved it when Carlito showed up on that one RAW when Sheamus had just won the Breakout Battle Royal to become the #1 Contender for Cena's WWE Championship, and Carlito was all "I hope you lose" out of the blue. I always liked the idea of Carlito being a "career nemesis" of John Cena. Not someone that is necessarily booked to be on Cena's level, but just someone that despises Cena, that Cena despises back, and they fight whenever they get a chance.

If there is talk of bringing Shelton Benjamin back, then that would mean there is a chance of getting Charlie Haas back. Please do it and make them a permanent tag team. Give them back matching attire, their theme music and the "World's Greatest Tag Team" name. Let Paul Heyman speak for them now that he is on the roster.

If Kaval was open to returning, then I would totally be for a return of The World Warrior. He was a stand-out on NXT, and he never really got the chance to get his feet wet.

Maybe they're just looking at going for regular mid card talent that probably doesn't have the chance to get incredibly over, but can do a solid job for them in the middle of the pack and help get some of their other guys over.Des Moines Wrestling (http://eliteedgegym.com/mma)
