Biggest expo of the year starts in less then a day and Microsoft is holding their press conference right now. So far they have announced that Xbox Live will feature downloadable retro arcade games, card games, etc and will support video chat from up to 5 people by the end of the year. On top of that they have announced XNA which seems to be a new type of physics/partical software (feed quit when they explained what it was). Ok seems to be a software program that uses the physics/particals as well as much more.

I'm going to post this now but they said there is suppose to be a big announcement later too.

They showed an amazing Halo 2 multiplayer video with some new key features. First and foremost, it's coming November 9. First, it's no longer just Human vs Human. You can now go Human vs Alien with specific weapons. Next, the vehicles take specific damage (they showed a hub cap falling off). The rocket launcher has a tracking on it now after you zoom and get a good lock. You can pick up two different type of weapons on each hand with their own trigger (left hand/left trigger, right is the same).

That's about it for right now just some more previews for Dead or Alive's new online game. Some amazing stuff coming out for the Xbox.

Nintendo and Sony have their conferences tomorrow morning.

Can't wait to see Nintendo's stuff... they'll probably show some crap about that dual moniter thing, but ehhhhh. Should have some hot new Pikmin 2 videos or something at least. Supposedly there'll be some new NHL 2005 info coming out too, which is nice 'cause I'm curious as to how the dynasty mode will be this year. I'm sure there'll be plenty of wrestling game news too, for all the wrestling fans... :o

That new Zelda game looks pretty good, especially with the Conan music.

I read that the DS at e3 is a non-final prototype, so expect some change in it's appearance before the final product.

I can't wait to hear/see news of NHL2005, there is supposed to be some amazing new gameplay feature. Hopefully not something lame like 2003's gamebreaker. :n:

Wow that DS looks a lot better than I thought. Plus with over 100 companies showing support for it, it could be very well. I wonder if it'll mark the end of the GBA? Not sure. Animal Crossing has already been announced, so that's hot.

Also, let's all give a moment of silence for all the little sperms that were lost in the ejaculation over the new Zelda screens.

Well, as cool as it sounds/looks and all, Metroid Prime 2 actually looks kind of disappointing.

The only really new item is the Screw Attack, which while cool, probably won't be all that much for a new game. It's mainly going to be used like the Space Jump, and not so much for attacking. Which is stupid, they should just call it the Space Jump then.

Also, the multiplayer doesn't look all that promising. I mean, it's cool that it's there, but it looks like it's gonna be there for the sake of being there. I mean, with only likr 4 different weapons, it won't really be that great, IMO. And even more disappointing, apparently you can't even use Dark Samus or whatever. Surely they'll change that eventually, 'cause I'm sure people are gonna want to use her in multiplayer. But still, they've said no to that as of now, so that sucks. And it won't even utilize Gamecube's minimal multiplayer capabilities, as it features no LAN support.

The game's about the same length as the first, which wasn't a short game by any means, but I was hoping for something a bit longer.

I dunnnnno still sounds like a hot game, but Metroid Prime set the bar so high, I'm afraid I'm going to be disappointed by this one :'(

Probably false advertising, but this is my pick of E3 so far.
All taken from Gamespot cause I can't be bothered to look elsewhere

So in no particular order:

Guilty Gear X2 #Reload - XBox (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/action/guiltygearreload/index.html)

OK, so it's been said on here (or the old boards) that I class Guilty Gear X2 as the greatest 2D (and possibly any type of) fighting game ever.
Reload was an updated version realised on the PS2 ages ago in Japan, featuring minor tweaks, and Robo-Ky as a selectable character from the start.

This version for XBox however features crisper graphics (see below), and (best thing ever) XBox Live play.
If the lag issues are non-existant (unlike Capcom vs SNK had) then this could officially be the best thing. EVER.
Oh and they reckon it'll be released for $19.95.

Now we just need it in the UK

http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2004/screen0/919646_20040512_screen004.jpg

Dead Or Alive Ultimate - XBox (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/action/doaonline/)

Should also be really good.
Also known as Dead Or Alive Online, it combines Dead Or Alive and Dead Or Alive 2, and adds in XBox Live support for online fighting.
As I understand DOA was never released in America, and comes intact with it's original graphics, and original form - bar online play
DOA2 features updated graphics, cut scenes, modes, and apparently has 7 online modes play.

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/action/metroidprime2tentativetitle/index.html)

Seems like it will be more of the same, but with some tweaks.
There's something like a rift, creating dark and light realms (Zelda games anyone?).
An introduction of a light and dark side system to the weapons (with light working better on dark and vice versa), sounds like it's been ripped straight out of Ikaruga as well. Also weapons now use ammo - no more pointless blasting things now.
And the game is supposed to be longer in single player than Prime also.
Multiplayer could be interesting, but I couldn't be bothered to read that bit :shifty:

Advance Wars - Under Fire - Gamecube (http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/strategy/advancewarsunderfire/index.html)

Looks like a 3rd person action shooter, with stratergy elements.
You run around, shoot things, and can take control of empty vehicles, but you can also command troops in the vacinity.
Details are a bit scarse at the mo though.

http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2004/screen0/920697_20040511_screen007.jpg

Paper Mario 2 - Gamecube (http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/rpg/papermario2/index.html)

Sequel to Paper Mario on the N64, Peach gets kidnapped again, blah blah blah.
Apparently it stays pretty faithful to the original, but introduces some new gameplay mechanics.
There'll be special pads that you can use to take full advantage of Mario's paper form. These pads will fold him into a paper aeroplane for example, or allow you to squeeze through a gap by turning sideways.
Also, now during battles there'll be an audience. You appeal to them during the fight, and that will build up the special meter.

http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2004/screen0/920182_20040402_screen006.jpg

Animal Crossing DS - Nintendo DS (duh) :p (http://www.gamespot.com/ds/rpg/animalcrossingds/index.html)

I'll be honest - I love Animal Crossing on the Gamecube, it's the best game I've ever imported (actually it's the only one).
Seems like it'll be more of the same for the DS. The top screen will display the action, and the lower screen shows the inventatory.
The lower screen has the touch screen on it, so allows for dragging and dropping of items into your hands/easy putting on of clothes, etc (could be a pain sometimes on the Gamecube).
There's still no real details though... But take a look, the graphics are on par with the Gamecube version (which admittedly was an N64 conversion)

http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2004/screen0/920786_20040511_screen001.jpg

Metal Gear Acid - PSP (http://www.gamespot.com/psp/strategy/metalgearsolid/index.html)

Metal Gear on the PSP, however, it's not an action adventure stealth game, it's a turn based, card-using, stealth game.
Basically you make your moves to try and take out the guards, using the cards as the weapons (ie, there's a card for claymore mine, one for a pistol, etc). Then they get to go and look for you and try and kill you.
You can also knock on walls and things.
It certainly looks the part though:

http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2004/news/05/11/mga/mga_screen003.jpg

Finally:
Super Mario 64 x 4 - Nintendo DS (http://www.gamespot.com/ds/action/dssupermario4x4/index.html)

A remake of Mario 64 for the DS.
Except you can play with 4 players - a star appears, then you all race for it, then after it's gotten another appears, etc. Whoever gets most stars wins.
While only the multiplayer was shown at E3, the single player is expected to be a remake of the N64 original.

http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2004/screen0/920758_20040511_screen004.jpg

The DS has really stolen the show for me, there's some initive ideas, and it looks like it'll be the shit when it's finally released.

Believe it or not, I've listened to an entire album and another half of another album while doing this.

Opinions, thoughts, your own top games?

A quick visit to Nintendo.co.uk has reveiled more details about the DS to me.
For starters, a Metroid game (which also features deathmatching)
http://media.nintendo-europe.com/compel/images/compel_images/Image_5dd31a7a-360d-4b83-823b-fab225bfde59.jpg

And details on the unit itself.
Just some highlights follow.

The DS also packs Wireless capability - DS users will be able to connect with a local wireless network of up to 16 players.

Players will be able to chat and play games without any connecting cords, completely untethered. Even better, the DS uses Wireless Game Sharing, which means that multiple players can compete in the same game, even though only one player has a game card inserted. Staggeringly, this means you can test-play a game for yourself as long as you stay connected.

The DS technology also offers a wireless LAN connection, which theoretically means that an infinite number of players could connect via a hot spot and compete at a central game hub on the Internet, even if they're thousands of miles apart. Meanwhile, chat software lets users transmit text messages, handwriting and even drawings to one another.

Games for the system come on compact cards, with the unit using newly developed semiconductor memory, which allows for lower cost, shorter manufacturing time and memory capacity of more than one gigabit of information.

1 gig, on a little card thing is impressive.

This is the first thing I've been really excited about in ages, video game wise, so sorry if it seems like I'm going on about it.

Going bed now, so you won't hear from me for at least 8 hours :)

The Gameboy's been like the most popular console ever, and I don't think any console in the future could ever hope to reach it's popularity.

If they keep leaving in backward compatibilty with every portable system they release, they can't go wrong.
It's in the DS so there's already a back catalouge of over 1000 games at least

From looking at the list of PSP Games. 4 of the games sold the thing for me. I am going to get one, when they are released in the US. The games, Dynasty Warriors, GT4:Mobile, Twisted Metal, and Breath of Fire.

Anyway, here's a list of games for it.

Gran Turismo 4 Mobile
* Ridge Racer
* Hot Shots Golf
* Wipeout
* Dynasty Warriors
* Tony Hawk's Pro Skater
* Medieval
* Ape Escape
* Spider-Man
* Metal Gear Solid
* NBA Street
* NFL Street
* Need for Speed Underground
* Tiger Woods PGA Tour
* Death Jr.
* Frogger
* F1
* ATV Off-Road Fury
* Syphon Filter
* Twisted Metal
* Breath of Fire
* DarkStalkers
* Bust A Move
* Armored Core
* WildArms

Also, the new LOTR games, Battle for Middle Earth(PC) and The Third Age(PS2) look, and from the articles, sound good. How ever, for me anyway, BFME, may be my new fav. RTS, atleast until, the 2nd Generals expansion pack comes out :)

Yeah I know. I know about all there is to know. I wouldn't be as mad if I didn't have this ATI coupon thing with my CD Key on it. I do like the new fact that it is being released with reworked versions of Counterstrike and Team Fortress. I think its amazing that they can take the original source and just kinda easily pull it over. If HL2 is that easy to work with, I am going to be amazed at the amount of MOD building I'm going to see for it. I'm also looking forward to the new map maker...cus I experimented with the HL1 one quite a bit.

Alienware is coming out with a dual-CPU, dual-GPU system. What that means is two processors and two video cards. One video card goes to the top of the screen and the other does the bottom half. It has the capability to hold up to 8GB of DDR2 ECC memory. :| They are going to ship with like an 800W power supply just to power that. Since Alienware is insanely overpriced already, I'd expect this to be like 5-7 thousand dollars.
