Today I bought a 4 show set of a promotion called Women's Extreme Wrestling. It looked interresting, had Alexis Laree on the cover, and cost $10. I thought what could be so bad?
Big mistake...
1. When there are 2 male characters (maybe 6 total, if that) named the Smoke and "Ice Cold" Mike Austin... you should start being scared.
2.The good things: it was held in Viking Hall, one of the announcers was "Quintessential Studmuffin," and Alexis Laree.
3.Some of these women need to learn how to, I dunno, WRESTLE! Some of this made Jeff Hardy look like Bret Hart. You think Lita is bad, she's actually pretty good in comparison to some of these folks. Now, to go into specifics
a. If you can't do a flying headscissors right, don't do it. (Valentina, I think her name was)
b. Alexis Laree had to try a pulldown by the hair spot twice before she almost grabbed Lady Storm's hands to her head (it looked bad, and considering that Alexis Laree was the best wrestler in the DVD)
c. Amanda Storm (different from Lady Storm) does some of the sloppiest looking powerbombs known to man (worse than D-Lo, Kevin Nash, and your average Backyard Wrestler)
d. No one should ever, I repeat, EVER, be subjected to Pa Mae. Picture the result of Yokozuna EATING Rikishi, and this guy is the result. And, in addition, he had the nerve to wrestle in overalls. He also had a thing for dropping his overalls, showing his briefs and sticking his enormous posterior in the poor sap's face.
e. That and some of the chain wrestling looked like shit, really slow paced, and the little bit of "Extreme" stuff going on didn't really add to the matches.
4. also, the overall lack of Nudity. In the first show of this thing, an "adult star" falls out of her small top, but they put up a grey box that says "Oops" on it. The whole set ENDS with somebody pulling a character named GI Hoe's top off, and they don't zoom in. (it's a minor complaint, but nudity was about the only thing that could have saved this...)
5. Damn, did I waste money on this...
Now, for the point of this post: has anyone made a mistake comparable to this (spent money on something wrestling related and wound up regretting it)and what was it? I'm curious to see if I'm the only dolt on this board.
