Yeah just saw it. Probably not as great as any LOTRs, but still decent. Martin Freeman is a fantastic Bilbo. Bit draggy at points.

A thread which in fairness no-one has posted in for nearly 3 months and has been long since shoved off the first page of the forum.

Don't think I'm going to bother seeing it in the cinema, probably going to wait on the DVD.

Is this going to be two movies or three? Anybody see it in Imax and can give information on the 9 minutes of trek footage? We just got a trailer.

It was pretty good, but I think they went overboard on the not-to subtle call-backs to the original movies.

It starts with a couple of people going to a hospital to visit their sick daughter. The father is approached by Khan/Gary Mitchell/Whoever Benedict Cumberbatch is playing who says he can save her. It then cuts to a planet (the one with all the red stuff from the trailer) where Kirk and Bones are running from some pissed off locals because Kirk stole something. Uhura and Spock and Sulu are on a shuttle on the planet. Turns out they're there to stop a volcano from erupting and destroying the planet. Anyways long story short Spock has to go into the volcano with this device to stop the eruption and they don't think they can get him out and the footage ends with Spock in the middle of the volcano preparing to die.

Looks pretty sweet.

Do you mean Tolkien in general, the Peter Jackson movies, or just the Hobbit??

Becaue I think The Hobbit is Tolkien's best work..

Some aliens V-Card. No doubt.

The saving people bit reminds me of Sybok from Star Trek V. He's supposed to have some sort of connection to Spock right?

The location of the movie is quite good and even its really amazing to watch the scene they choose. The movie has great story line and i must say the acting is pretty good.
