View Full Version : Songs That Haunt You
Melancholic songs that you keep revisiting, and that always have a similar effect on you.
Revisited Space Dye Vest by Dream Theater. The song itself is so powerful that it always make me go in to 'self-critical' mode.

Not sure what you mean by "haunt" in this context. Since generally that's a bad thing.

I wouldn't say haunt, but a song that has a darker effect on me would be "Needle in the Hay" by Elliot Smith.

Another super sad song is
<IFRAME height=315 src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/qBO-iavMP-U" frameBorder=0 width=420 allowfullscreen></IFRAME>
Lacrimosa - Der Letzte Hilfeschrei (Last cry for help), here's the german to english translation,
Weeks and months go by
And loneliness stands by my side
That's the price - Iron loneliness
That's the nightmare of my existence
Allone - forgotten - let into the exile
Without love, warm, hope
Only longing burns inside me
I hear voices and conversations
But no-one talks to me
I want to get out of here - I want to get away
I don't know what's wrong with me
I'm healthy...!
Where are those people who promised me their love?
Where are my parents who produced me?
Where are my friends who stood by me?
Where is the woman who loves me?
Did she forget me?
Did everybody forget me?
Did they abandon me?
Did they leave me behind?
Can't anybody remember me?
Can't anybody help me?
Am I completly alone?
And where's the doctor?
Where are the nurses?
I need! help!
I'm afraid!
Help!

Added what i meant by 'haunt' in the title post. It doesn't have to be 'sad' songs. Just songs that keep revisiting you, and always leave you slightly troubled, in one way or the other. Could be inducing sadness, fear, introspection, critique...
Iron Maiden's 2AM and Mournful Congregation are my next picks...

Juan, please don't post videos that are obviously an attempt to bash my hometown. I don't post videos about taco land and burritoville do I?

Also, when I think of "haunting" music, I think of dark and gloomy.

In another interpertation of the thread, this song is permanently embedded in my head seemingly from the first time I heard it. It's not even my favorite Nevermore song (by far not), but for some reason it has stuck so well that I hum bits of it all the time.
