View Full Version : WM XXIX HOF inductees list from the wrestling observer
credit: wrestlinginc/f4wrestling
Since the HOF is taking place in MSG they want it to have a NY theme and honor the famous arena.
*The Rock (debuted at Survivor Series 96 @ MSG)
*Mick Foley (watched Snuka fly off the cage @ MSG)
*Nasty Boys (billed as from NYC)
*Harlem Heat (billed as from Harlem)
HHH desperately wants Bruno Sammartino (MSG legend) and WWE desperately wants Owen Hart (beat Bret Hart @ WMX) but neither is a definitive lock.

Austin is in the HOF already
forgot about that, my bad.....
My preferred lineup (won't happen):
Headliner: Vince
Alternate: Vince is the only one inducted and it's basically a 2-3 hour roast.
Alternates to Vince: Foley or Triple H
Second Tier: Savage/Liz, Heyman, Bruno
Team: Rock and Sock Connection
Celebrity: Cyndi Lauper and/or Mr. T
Filler: Jim Johnston

:wtf: Nasty Boys being included.
Thought Harlem Heat would have been a bit of a stretch instead of just taking Booker T but didn't know they won 10 WCW tag titles. Would put them on the level of E&C and Dudley Boys in the WWF for comparisons and worthy of being inducted.
If they really wanted an homage to MSG moments, maybe Razor Ramon instead of the Nasty Boys because of the memorable ladder match from Mania X.

The WWE "Hall of Fame" has just become a political kiss-ass fest. It's a place to get jerked off on paper. It has a duality in the sense that it seems legit for a lot of guys, but for others, it seems purely political. Some wrestlers have been inducted who are relatives to big stars in the WWE, preceding a rather incomplete list of wrestling legends and greats in induction.
Now you're inducting the Nasty Boys because you want to stack more "legacy" on a relationship between the company and the arena. They're from New York. Other than that, they've held tag team titles in just about every major promotion, but they never stayed around long anywhere.
To be blunt, the Nasty Boys didn't do shit for wrestling. They were spokes on the wheel.
The Hall of Fame should be reserved for people who have spearheaded the WWE's mission to become the one-stop-shop for wrestling and "sports entertainment." Perhaps even deserving Hall of Fame recognition are those who had their "great moments," those things that made you totally mark out.
Before recently, I had never even heard of Mil Mascaras. That excludes me from being allowed to say whether or not he's worthy of the Hall of Fame, but isn't "Fame" part of the whole thing?
I just don't think the Nasty Boys belong in the company of Hulk Hogan. I piss on the WWE Hall of Fame with my dick.
Hogan thinks the Nasty Boys belong in the company of Hogan.

Anyways, if Booker T ever goes in to the HoF, it will definitely be by himself, and not as part of Harlem Heat. He probably won't go in for a long time though. Until they are desperate for a "headline" or "Number Two" name for the induction.

Mil Mascaras is arguably the greatest star in the history of Mexico behind only El Santo, and he also competed around the world in AJPW, he was the first masked wrestler to compete in Madison Square Garden, wrestled in Puerto Rico, WCW, etc. He isn't some random internet darling chosen from a "Best of Mexico" trade tape.

You are correct about Mil Mascaras never wrestling for WWE outside that one Rumble stint. I personally believe he belongs in the AAA and/or CMLL Hall of Fame and not in the WWE HOF, but with the induction of Abdullah the Butcher, it appears WWE will continue to induct those ill-known within the WWE fan base but having a cult following outside.
I expect WWE would induct Hiro Matsuda if its Asian American audience was as large as its Spanish American audience. Heck, someday they might induct Steve Corino, Generico, or Kevin Steen if they amass enough following outside WWE. I don't agree with the practice, but WWE sees the HOF as a marketing gimmick and will try to win crossover fans like they have tried with celebrity inductions.

You hope Goregous George wasn't associated with the WWE so that you could hear me explain why he shouldn't be in the hall of fame, and yet, I never said he didn't deserve it. I suppose you could throw another handful of wild names in an attempt to explain who the fuck Mil Mascaras is and what he did for the business.
You're comparing another huge name to "Mil Mascaras," who was a big star in a completely different country.
Gorgeous George wasn't inducted to jerk Alberto Del Rio off, or to show up in Mexico and tour like they give a shit about Mexico.
Anyone have a back story on the Nasty Boys and their hall of fame worthy jobs to the Steiner Bros?
whiteyford
01-01-2013, 03:31 PM
Mil Mascaras was also a huge draw in LA and surrounding regions and would have went in eventually regardless of Del Rios involvement with the company. Your issue seems to be that you've no real idea who he is or what he's accomplished so clearly its to give Del Rio a pat on the back.

Its a HOF based on who they want to acknowledge as being 'worthy', I'm not saying he wasn't put in as a marketing ploy for the hispaic market in the same way Inoki went in to gain the press attention in Japan or Khali is there to bolster the Indian market, but like Inoki he's deserving of a place in any HOF for his overall legacy.

Actually Mil Mascaras was in the wwwf around the mid to late seventies, possibly 80- 81.He never stayed in one place too long. Also I believe that Bruno Sammartino should be inducted here,it's the perfect time for him to be in.WWE might make some kind of story line with Punk n ruining Bruno's HOF induction cause of the whole best in the world and best champ of all time thing. Also might be an angle for Bruno to come back and train someone to beat Punk(that's a longshot there, but you never know)

I never understood why people view the WWE Hall of Fame as a joke. Since they started doing annual inductions at WrestleMania 20, I would argue there is not a more visible and credible entity to honor pro wrestling's past. You can nit-pick and bitch about Pete Rose or Drew Carey, but the majority of the guys in the Hall of Fame are more than deserving of having a night in which their career and legacy is honored and given a spotlight some of them have never gotten.

DX and the Kliq rumored to be this year's headliners for the 2013 Class.
According to Wrestlezone, WWE is expected to announce the group as the 2013 WWE Hall of Fame headliners. Members would be two-time HOF inductee Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Kevin Nash, Sean Waltman, and the New Age Outlaws.
This follows the Kliq/DX/NWO re-uniting at last week's NXT TV tapings in Florida. It would also follow a Kliq reunion two years ago when Shawn Michaels was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

DX and the Kliq rumored to be this year's headliners for the 2013 Class.

I'd be down for that only if Scott Hall was present. You can't induct "The Kliq" and not have him.
He needs this type of recognition more than anybody. It'd probably be good for his health.

LOL @ Sean Waltman being in a hall of fame, even if it is riding the coat tails of a bunch of other people.
I also guess HBK and HHH will be members of the Two Time Hall of Fame along with Flair.
