It appears Anderson Silva‘s future is set with plenty more fights left inside the UFC Octagon after his latest contract negotiation.

Following his win over Stephan Bonnar at UFC 153, Silva and his management confirmed that the longtime champion had two fights left on his current deal, but they were going to begin dialoging with the UFC soon about an extension.
Now, according to UFC president Dana White, those terms have been reached and it's a big deal.

White confirmed that Anderson Silva will sign a new 10-fight deal with the UFC that will take him up until the day he likely decides to retire, closing the book on one of the most storied careers in all of fighting.

“Ten. He signed a 10-fight deal. I don’t think we’ve ever done a 10-fight deal. Maybe we did one with Forrest once, I don’t remember, but Anderson said, ‘I want a 10-fight deal, not an eight-fight deal.’ I’ll give him a 100-fight deal if he wants one,” White said on Saturday night.

Already the most dominant champion in UFC history, Silva probably received the most lucrative deal the company has ever offered, and it stands to reason why.

Silva is undefeated in his UFC career with more title defenses than any fighter that has ever stepped foot in the Octagon, and even at 37 years of age he doesn't appear to be slowing down whatsoever.

“Ten more fights, realistically, is three more years. I mean, the guy is (almost) 38, but he doesn’t look it,” White said about his champion.

It's likely Silva's next trip to the Octagon will be defending his UFC middleweight title for an 11th time, likely facing Michael Bisping, should the brash Brit defeat Vitor Belfort at UFC on FX 7.

There are still potential superfights looming overhead as well with Silva possibly facing UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre or light heavyweight champ Jon Jones.

Whatever he chooses to do, Silva will be doing it in the UFC, and that's just fine by Dana White.

No real point in a 10 fight deal when he'll prol retire after beating Bones/GSP/couple of bums at 185.

It's pretty much a 3 year deal at 3 fights per year.. I'd say more of those will be at 205 than at 185..

Who can he fight @ 205 tho, he won't fight Machida (dunno bout Shogun), Sonnen already been done x2, Griffin is a jobber, lol @ Bader, etc.

Dude hasn't fought three times in a year since 2008 and I doubt at 38 he'll be trying to do that now.

If anything, he'll probably retire with multiple fights left or at least that's what I hope. I don't want to see him stick around past his prime or get beat by some young punk merely because Father Time finally caught up with him... unless Anderson goes the TRT route or something.

If those MMA guys are so tough, why dont they fight grizzly bears? Until they do that I think they are weak and scared.

Silva retires once he loses his first and second fights to Michael Bisping.

I truly believe Bisping can take and hold Silva down for 5 rounds, his clinch game is very underrated, and he has really impressed me with timing opponents strikes and ducking under for the takedown, all things Silva struggled with against Mr Sonnen. That mixed with the insane pace that Bisping will push makes him a touch match up for Silva imo.

I'm looking forward to a Bisping/Silva matchup. I like Bisping as a fighter and personality a lot. However, I think Bisping will end up knocked the fuck out by the 2nd round.

That's also assuming he gets past Belfort and isn't screwed by a judge's decision like he was in the Sonnen fight.

I think Silva/Bisping is a big fight, one that I want to see very much. I know Anderson will knock him out though.

I think it will be much like Silva/Sonnen II, in that the build up will be great, it'll be a huge event (specially if held in England or Brazil), then Silva will dispatch Bisping from his senses in under 8 minutes of the fight.. Under 5 if he doesn't toy with him in the first..

I like this news. Is it going to be like the Undertakers undefeated streak?

Bisping wont trade strike with Silva, I would follow Sonnens strategy of leading with and clinching off his rear hand, it's how Sonnen was able to catch and drop Silva, and while Sonnens wrestling credentials are much greater than Bispings, it was more of the pace and constant crowing and elimination of the space that Silva needed to get comfortable in the striking game.

Of course if Bisping comes out and just circles like a Vitor he's gonna get his face smashed in.

The combination of Bispings all around game and cardio will make it a much more exciting fight than most expect.

Bisping is a much smarter fighter than when he fought old man Henderson.

Henderson would probably get shut out in a rematch imo. Hell Bisping could just take hendo down and keep him there if he wanted. I couldnt see him making it passed the 3rd with his cardio.
