Is it me, or were all of their matches just, so so. I can't help but feel if modern day Taker got into the ring with 1995 Bret Hart, we'd be seeing classics.
Why was Taker so shit until 1996!? Fucking Zombie taker.

You haven't seen their match from the UK PPV One Night Only. That match was the classic Hart-Taker match you're looking for.

Yeah, Taker carried Bret Hart to a respectable match at One Night Only

The complete opposite of what was said here. Bret Hart was awesome. The way he ended every match was so cool.

I've seen it, it's good, but considering who is involved, I want better.
I'm thinking about penning Bret Hart a very serious Tweet.

Just watched the 1996 Royal Rumble where Taker and Bret wrestled for the title. Miraculously, Diesel saved the match by getting the match ended in a DQ.

Yeah Bret was probably one the of most boring workers in the company. Five moves of doom and cut a boring promo. "Yawn", no wonder why the Hart Family is all dead. Bret killed them with boredom.

I think you're confusing the Harts for the Von Erich's. Talk about a bunch of boring rasslers.
Taker was pretty shitty in the ring till he returned with his biker gimmick imo.

i dunno, to me it seemed like every taker match of the early 2000s was basically punch, punch, punch, punch, old school, punch, punch, last ride, pin

Yeah, with very few exceptions, Biker Taker is arguably his worst work. His Mania matches with HHH and Flair were good, and the ladder match with Hardy was excellent, but overall Razz is right.

I thought Summerslam 1997 was one of the best WWE Title matches. It was a very well constructed main event and I thought there was chemistry between them. Bret is my second favorite of all time, with Sting being my favorite. I think the Royal Rumble 96 match was okay, but that is because I don't think Taker was good until 1997 so that factors in. Diesel's involvement was great in that though. Diesel was actually the star of that Rumble but that's a different topic.

That would really be kicking Bret in his groin, which I heard still acts up from his malingering stage in WCW. :) It's not as if Hart can get back in the ring due to his injuries, and his insurance policy would be null and void if he took any bumps. A Bret-Taker match today would just be Bret on offense.
There's no way for Hart to go back and change things, so why claw at his conscience with that regret? :|

I thought this match was far and away better than the other Bret-Taker matches.

I meant it looked like he finally started giving a crap about the actual matches. Probably the whole experience of pretty much being on his own after a long while.

I was always surprised that Bret had better matches with Nash than with Taker.

Undertaker is so boring and shitty that Sid literally crapped himself at WM b/c he was in the ring with him. The only good thing Taker did was bring the hottie Sara to the WWF. So hot!

I dunno - my favourite Undertaker work was his Big Evil persona. He suddenly embraced the UFC style and incorporated a couple of submission moves into his repertoire. The pace of his matches slowed down and they were more...considered. It probably goes hand in hand with his age and trying to prolong his career.
