Read below and get caught up. Post your own Universe Mode clusterfucks and let us celebrate the most random booking this side of TNA iMPACT! Wrestling.
_____________________________________________
Restarted my Universe with a RAW, SmackDown!, and "Old School" brand. I also have Raw/SD! co-host NXT, HeAT, and a House Show.
Monday: RAW
Tuesday: NXT (RAW & SmackDown!
Wednesday: WWE
Thursday: HeAT (RAW & SmackDown!)
Friday: SmackDown!
Saturday: WWE LIVE! Tour (House Show feat. RAW & SmackDown!)
Considering doing a "Legends PPV" every 3rd month or something. I hope by having more shows, the storylines will progress faster.
Next on NXT: Sheamus/Jey Uso vs Alberto Del Rio/Damien Sandow
wHHHo booked this crap?
HOLY SHIT!!! Jey Uso just turned on Sheamus!!!!
Making up for the random tag matches on NXT by having Undertaker/Wade Barrett on as the main event.
Undertaker kicked the living shit out of Wade Barrett. They shake hands after the contest. We now move on to the debut of WWE Old School.
WWE Old School opens up with a Triple Threat Match - Val Venis vs Scotty Too Hotty vs Grand Master Sexay.
Has Pat Patterson been snorting ecstasy again?
"I will make you understand."
Might start my own Universe mode blog with my humorous musings. I might get 3 followers on Twitter.
Gonna pick the underdog and select Val Venis to win this important contest in the WWE European Championship rankings.
Val Venis is much more over in the 1995 WWF Arena than I thought.
Next on the card is 1999 Undertaker vs Brian Pillman.
I smell a classic.
This is the arena I'm using for WWE Old School:
http://imageshack.us/a/img823/2299/wwe12mid90sb.png
With the entrance being the old neon lights WWF logo and columns.
I should probably note that while 1999 Undertaker is competing against Brian Pillman. 1997 Undertaker is the reigning Old School WWE Champion.
Undertaker counters a diving cross body into a Tombstone Piledriver. Pillman kicks out and escapes out of the ring. They brawl on the outside until Pillman whips Taker into the corner guardrail and tackles him through it. Undertaker barely beats the 10 count. They struggle for a bit. Pillman nails "Air Pillman" and then lands a huge elbow drop to get the pin and defeat "The Phenom". Awesome match.
Next up on Old School: Ken Shamrock/Big Bossman vs Edge ('99)/Christian ('99)
The Corporation and Vince McMahon's power is clear as ever here on WWE Old School.
http://lolbrary.com/content/758/what-do-you-mean-im-not-a-bear-18758.jpg
Fuck you, I felt like posting it.
The match was a WAR with E&C picking up the victory.
Next up: '98-'99 Rock vs Mankind
Fuck, WWE Old School is "Destination TV".
Good GOD ALMIGHTY, PAUL WIGHT ATTACKED MANKIND BEFORE THE MATCH?!?!!?
Underwhelming contest. Mankind does a lot of damage brawling with The Rock outside the ring. Mankind makes The Rock tapout to the sleeper. Mankind offers a handshake after the match and The Rock slaps his hand away.
Next up: OUR MAIN EVENT OF THE EVENING -- '97-'98 Undertaker vs Stone Cold Steve Austin
Son of a bitch, Stone Cold is a countering machine.
Brutal action on the outside. They get in the ring and Undertaker takes advantage. He nails the Tight Rope Shoulder Strike and then nails a TOMBSTONE to pin Stone Cold. Can any of the plethora of legends stop '97-'98 Undertaker in his reign as WWF Champion!??! We'll see ya next week!
Next up: Sunday Night HeAT!
Opening Match: Dean Ambrose vs Drew McIntyre
Dean Ambrose decided to be a dick and get himself DQ'd by hitting Drew with a sledgehammer.
Also, when the fuck did it become 3:20am?
Next on HeAT: Roman Reigns vs Brad Maddox
Damn, Roman Reigns did like Ambrose but with steel steps. Is THE SHIELD sending a message?
Next on HeAT: Antonio Cesaro vs Yoshi Tatsu
Holy shit, this is a pretty realistic HeAT.
The crowd ERUPTS for Yoshi Tatsu.
Where is Yoshi Tatsu in real life? I haven't seen him on TV in ages but I love him.
FIGHTING SPIRIT!
It took 3 roundhouse kicks, but Yoshi crushed Cesaro.
Next on HeAT: Dolph Ziggler vs Triple H
Hard fought battle. Triple H wins.
Duh. You actually thought Dolph would win?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Alberto Del Rio comes out after the match and hits Triple H with his World Heavyweight Championship Belt!
Our main event: Jimmy Uso vs Damien Sandow
Pat Patterson must be sniffing Lion King underwear again.
Sandow wins in a surprisingly hard fought battle.
2 weeks in and my house show is headlined by The Rock vs Triple H. There are wayyyy too many fucking random tag matches. I had Hunico/Yoshi Tatsu vs Damien Sandow/Sin Cara. Hunico no-showed Yoshi and Sin Cara was uber heelish. Did I unlock Sin Cara Negro?
Jim Ross is kicking everybody's ass right now. I thought I changed his OVR to like 70. Grrr...
FYI - Triple H crushed The Rock in like 5 minutes at the House Show.
I keep getting the same matches over and over on RAW. I don't get it. I've got like 35 guys on RAW and SD! and 50ish on Legends. They say not to change cards to get the storylines, but I've gotten Kane/Punk and Cena/Lesnar 3 weeks in a row on RAW. How the fuck do I fix this?
Kane hitting CM Punk with brass knuckles was a shocker though.
Ok. Lesnar just hit Cena with brass knucks like Kane did in the previous match. What a clusterfuck of a mode. 3 weeks in and I'm already like "fuck it."
It is fun beating the shit out of John Cena with Brock Lesnar though.
Is there any way to pick alternate attires in Universe mode?
I'm tired of Tommy Cena. I want Jason Cena.
I need to download a Bob Backlund CAW.
I was playing most of them, but started simming a lot of the divas matches and other matches I didn't care about. "The Shield" getting themselves getting DQ'd was me just fucking around. That'd be an interesting angle if The Shield said it was an injustice for Vince to put them in shitty opening matches after stealing the show at TLC so they just whack their opponent with a weapon.
I would absolutely read a thread of just James Steele WWE Universe commentary :y:
Am I the only one who absolutely loves Brad Maddox?
How is there not a good Brad Maddox CAW still? The one I DL'd initially sucks balls. I still can't find one that doesn't suck balls.
Considering starting a "WWE 13 Steele-verse" thread.
Nothing comes up when you search TPWW. Heh.
You could even start just a generic Universe thread and encourage other people to post their results, too. It'd be like the Wrestling Sim thread, just with more comedy.
Wait, Brad Maddox's real name is Tyler Kluttz according to Wikipedia. That is almost as good as Monty Sopp.

Now that you're caught up, I want to update you on some things:
I downloaded better versions of: The Shield and Brad Maddox
New superstars I downloaded and will be debuting this week: Bob Backlund, Michael McGuillicutty, Big E Langston, Evan Bourne,
I deactivated Jim Ross because he was kicking people's asses left and right on RAW out of respect for his badass goatee.
I moved Jerry Lawler to WWE Old School.
I reformed the classic tag team of Godfather and Val Venis and named them "The Industry".
-----------------
At the conclusion of that clusterfuck RAW episode that featured the same matches as last week but with DOUBLE THE BRASS KNUCKS, we go to NXT which has had the best cards of all besides the kickass house shows this game decides to book.
Humorous musings to follow.
James Steele

**Note to self: need to find a 2000-2001 Megatron Heel Triple H and a new 2013 Sexy Business Casual Triple H CAW. Probably should download William Regal too.

I'm waiting until I'm done with Attitude Mode, but I've got it set up as close to current WWE programming as I can:
Monday - RAW
Tuesday - NXT
Wednesday - Main Event
Thursday - Superstars
Friday - SmackDown!
Saturday - Saturday Morning Slam
I'll probably make Main Event an Attitude show with its own set of titles, made up of all the living guys from that roster that aren't on the active roster.

Lita just countered AJ's rushing attack with a Tilt-o-Whirl Sideslam. When the fuck has Lita ever done a Tilt-o-Whirl Sideslam?
James Steele
01-13-2013, 10:05 AM
I kind of like the background music along with the commentary. I just wish Lita would stay the fuck down for this leg drop. I've completely destroyed poor AJ's ass.
James Steele
01-13-2013, 10:07 AM
AJ picks up the win after a bunch of hurricanranas, snap suplexes, and kicks to the face. Finisher actually worked the first time. This game has a bad habit of having them kick out of the first finisher at 1. I've already got finishers and weapons at MAX damage. Wish I knew how to get this working.
James Steele
01-13-2013, 10:09 AM
DDP vs Cesaro is next. I replaced the WWE U.S. Belt with the WCW U.S. Belt. Perhaps DDP wants his belt back. He kicked the shit out of Raven on MTV for it many years ago.
James Steele

DDP/Raven was probably one of my favorite things in WCW ever. Forgotten classics.

Next on NXT: Orton vs Del Rio vs Sheamus
James Steele
01-13-2013, 10:25 AM
ADR attacked Orton.
Del Rio has like 5 feuds going on. Wonder which won will get the title shot in 2 weeks at Extreme Rules.
Also, WWE Old School has their first PPV this week when "WWE Legends invade Tokyo" live on Pay-Per-View.

NXT Main Event: Dolph Ziggler vs Triple H

James Steele
01-13-2013, 10:44 AM

WWE Old School opens up with '99 DX Triple H vs '99 Chris Jericho.
James Steele
01-13-2013, 10:53 AM
Jesus, how do you fuck up a model that bad? This is barely better then the "Ken Doll in a Lava Explosion" look the model of Triple H had in WWF No Mercy.
James Steele
01-13-2013, 10:54 AM
The WWF Old School Arena doesn't have a titantron. '99 Chris Jericho's entrance is a hell of a lot less epic.
James Steele
01-13-2013, 10:55 AM
For shits and giggles, I'll play as '99 Chris Jericho in this match.

01-13-2013, 11:00 AM
If they got rid of the CAW cap on these I'd go nuts and download everyone for shits n giggles. Instead I get the team Of Mario & Luigi in a perpetual tag title feud with Bossman/Shamrock & Vince & Paul Heyman. Its the only regular match my universe mode spouts out except Hasneys CAW and Rikishis neverending WWE title feud.

Y'see, The Undertaker is the one who "will make you understand" in Too Cool's theme song. It all makes sense. Vince McMahon was the higher power because of his ability to dance. I can see it clearly now. The angle got cut short before the Corporate Ministry of Funk could really be fleshed out. What a shame.

Are you guys simming the matches for the most part, or playing them through? Just want to know if that makes some of the weirder shit happen, as I sim all of mine except for the ones my CAW is in.
Also, what difficulty would be better? I've been on easy or Normal.

I'm playing on hard and play most of the matches until I get bored or start getting the same shit every show.

There never seems to be aside from frequency of reversals.

Exactly. That is the only aspect that changed going from normal to legend. They reverse damn near everything until you beat on them a bit. Kinda like a real match I guess.
Seriously though, they will reverse 90% of the time, unless you tune it down with the options. Mebbe their situational awareness changes too. Depending on the opponent, I may see more proper finisher set-ups and what not.

There seemed to be a lot of reversals in the lower settings too but on Legend the amount of time they reverse weapon shots is absurd. Also Mike Tyson is the US champ in my Universe mode 90% of the time, the other 10% he's #1 contender so it's not just James Steeles version.

I'm sad this thread died, so I'm bringin' it back!
Reset my Universe and set everything to reflect how I imagine WWE will look post-Mania (plus some wishful-thinking booking like Cena and Orton turning heel on Sunday). Everyone that's dead and all the past gimmicks got set to Inactive, all of the Attitude guys plus guys like Taker and HHH got moved to Legends.
First Raw was pretty normal, ending with a great Jericho/Cena match. SmackDown was going normal, until the main event. Sheamus and Del Rio were set for a non-title match but they were first attacked by Scotty 2 Hotty! Once he'd laid them both out, he left, and it wound up being an epic encounter.
So, I rolled with it, and now Scotty is on the SD brand as a heel. 'Cause, why not?

Do you play on Normal or on Easy? I may restart Universe Mode and try on Normal difficulty. Maybe more random weird stuff will happen.
I started a "Faces of Fear" team, but the two members feuded with each other for months before they were actually teamed together and won the Tag Titles.

If you sim, it's kind of a toss up. He loses to the most random of opponents. In mine, Primo kept beating him.

Hasn't showed up yet. Literally done two shows. Raw had Cena/Y2J, AJ/Nikki, Rhodes Scholars/Truth & Kofi, Hunico/Epico, and Barrett/Christian and SmackDown was ADR/Sheamus, Layla/Brie, Rhodes Scholars/3MB, DiBiase/Jimmy Uso, and Swagger/Jinder.

You should play on Legend. Honestly, the way it is designed, it is just like normal with 1000000000000 more reversals :D

Heel Scotty wins his "debut," beating Jimmy Uso and Jinder Mahal in a triple threat that saw him perform three Worms on Mahal while wearing the "crimson mask." At one point, Mahal took him out with a chair shot but wasn't able to put him away.
This SmackDown actually looks pretty good. There's a divas match, which I'll set to Quick and have Layla squash Brie Bella, but there's a Mysterio/Sin Cara vs. 3MB match, Gabriel vs. Rhodes for #1 contender for the U.S. Title (I assume that's what it's #1 contender for), and a weird tag main event pitting Alberto Del Rio and Ted DiBiase against Randy Orton and Damien Sandow.

In the main event, Sandow walked out on Orton, but he still RKOed DiBiase for the win in their impromptu handicap match.

Bit of an overkill, but my personal CAW put his #1 Contenders spot on the line against Road Dogg, booked right after I joined the Attitude Era roster with the current RAW lineup, in a Hell in a Cell match. All done by the CPU booker.
I heard just letting the CPU do their business will lead to more cut scenes and like two matches into a feud, I got some weird ass message on the Titantron saying that "The End is Coming" or some piss like that.
Fuckin' entertaining so far.
