Would you still watch WWE? I don't mean everybody just walked out and wrestled in singlets or short tights. I mean, if Punk was still Best in the World, if Sandow was still your Intellectual Savior and Cena was still.... well Cena, would you still care about the WWE?

I don't get it.
You're talking about if every storyline we have now stayed "as is", and never evolved?

Well, I mean is there was still interviews, managers, and wrestlers still had gimmicks but there were no long term stories behind "why" the two guys are wrestling each other besides one of them wants a shot at the belt.
Side note, I was watching the "wrestling" episode of South Park last night, that's what made me think of this question.

I think it would be great if everyone just wore black trunks and the only promos they cut would be like this "I want to rassle you to prove I am the best at artistic combat and prove my workrate to be 10% better than yours" That would f'n rule!

Ugh, then it'd be called ROH and nobody watches that garbage.

Oh, ok. In that case hell naw. Angles are what catch your attention and get you involved into whatever is going on.
Going back to wrestling as it was in the 50's or 60's, where it was basically "I am strong, I will beat you", with no real meaning, would be horrible. I wouldn't be able to get into that shit.
The Triple H vs Undertaker "Hell in a Cell match" with HBK as special guest referee is a great example of a classic match that was all about the storyline it carried.

Well I was thinking more 70's early 80's pre Rock 'N Wrestling Connection days. Where you had Iranian not liking the Sgt because he is American. There were Arrogant/ Narcissistic wrestlers like Billy Graham and Ric Flair but the wrestlers told the story in the ring not out of it. I guess I can see what you mean though about the End of an era match. Taker vs HHH is good, HHH wanting to end the Streak and his best friend who's career was ended by Taker is the referee, is better.

If no minimal storylines and pure in ring action drew huge, ROH would be the top company.

oh wait I know ROH, its the one where if you do well there you get promoted to OCW or Parsons. If you're really good you may even get an ERAG match.

You haven't noticed UFC has turned the corner and is now having their guys speak out against one another in press conferences, badmouth each other, build "heat"?
If anything, UFC has learned from WWE as to how to sell a fight and a PPV.
Boxing, too.

Nah is the correct answer, as there probably wouldn't be a show to watch.

Gertner didn't say that. Str8 Jimmy did.
If there were no storylines in WWE, then I would not watch, because sometimes the promos are more fun than the matches.

I'd watch it with no storylines if every match was John Cena vs Hornswaggle

In all honesty, story lines have been minimal for a about a year or so, with most angles simply revolving around a guy with the belt and somebody else wanting it. Think about non-main event story lines... Not all are vanilla but a good portion of them are. We had 6 months of "meh" from Sheamus and Del Rio, two decent In ring pros for what? Del rio wanted the belt and they made a bunch of subpar matches. For Christ's sake, everyone wants to be a title holder, that's not something to build an angle around, you need something more (Jericho/Dolph was a good example of this). Just my opinion, but storylines need more spice as it is.
