Lately I have been watching, and reviewing, ECW Hardcore TV from 1998. I have all the episodes, but decided to start in 1998 for whatever reason.

Anyway, for fellow ECW fans. I was wondering what was everyone's thoughts on the ECW product at the time? I'm in May of '98 and just have a few opinions on the product.

(Considering this is fresh in my mind as I watch it, I understand if there isn't much discussion since this was 15 years ago.)

- The feuds between RVD/Sabu and Candido/Storm seemed to be rather similar and in effect hurt each other. Two partners feuding with each other.

- Taz is getting much more intense. I didn't think that was possible, but he got "arrested" and escorted out of the arena. If I recall, the same happened to Austin on WWF television just weeks prior.

- The Dudley Boys are rising up the ranks as a heel faction. Their feud with Dreamer and Sandman is just starting to heat up.

- Justin Credible had a solid feud with Dreamer going on earlier in the year, but after losing to Dreamer at Living Dangerously he has been feuding with Whipwreck and seems to have lost some steam.

- Jerry Lynn has not yet gotten that cult following. He's just kinda there.

- Shane Douglas is hurt and the build for his eventual match with Taz appears to be underway.

That's all I can think of at the moment. I'm on May 20th, 1998 edition of Hardcore TV. If you'd like to read what I've watched up to this point, I've got the shows reviewed on the blog.

Yeah, I'm trying to get some new discussion going and get word of my blog out on here. Thanks for pointing it out.

Sadly e only thing I remember about Ecw tv on tnn was too many commercials and too much talking / ppv selling. I feel like each episode had like 2 or 3 matches only.

Fill me in if I'm wrong but yeah it's been 15 years and I don't even know if we are talking about the same broadcast.

You're correct good sir. That's why I said hardcore advertisement not some blog nobody cares about.

The wrestling was fine, the production was subpar, but it had an energy that came through the screen and grabbed me, making me totally invested in ECW. That was a great year for ECW and '99 was just as good. Come across any Skull Von Krush matches yet.

I wish I could give you my two cents, but at that time I was engulfed in nWo, Goldberg, Glacier, Benoit, and all the other wrestlers in WCW.

Hardcore TV prior to ECW on TNN featured some full length matches and advanced matches fairly well. Yes, they advertised their house shows quite a bit, but that was needed to help them stay afloat. I wouldn't say the show was "hardcore advertisement."

I have not come across any Skull Von Krush matches yet.

Skull Von Krush and Rod Price were the tag team of the decade.
