I was thinking that this fight made sense even if Aldo had lost.. I thought that they'd do it at 155 but it looks like Pettis will cut down and finally get his UFC title shot..

Mush better than him sitting around and waiting on Bendo..

I'm really looking forward to this fight..

Bendo/Pettis 2, Champion vs Champion.

Sounds sweet.

I'm not sure how I feel about guys jumping between weight divisions all the time.

Hopefully things will settle down once all the newer divisions have become more established.

I think the UFC is coming dangerously close to having a paucity of legit challengers in a large number of divisions. 145 is so low on contenders that guys are getting title shots without even fighting at that weight class, 185 is low, 205 is low, HW is low and I don't care enough about the 135 and 125 divisions tbh. These TUF shows aren't doing that great a job of producing new stars or even identifying top prospects either.

I mean, imagine if Machida upsets Hendo. No one wants to see Jones/Machida II. Cain's most intriguing opponent, Cormier, won't fight him. Anderson has one legit opponent left, Weidman, although I believe Jacare Souza will emerge as a contender. Even 155 is thinning out.

They could do a Jones/Silva superfight, but once that's done, it's pretty much a blown load. Maybe the Strikeforce guys will help.

If this fight winds up being in Chicago, i'm going. No fucking question about it. I will be there. I will open up the checkbook. I will buy a ticket. I will be there. This would be incredible to watch live. I am praying that this is in Chicago.

Didn't they have the last Fox card in Chicago tho? Seems a bit soon for them to go back there.

(Not to crush ur dreams or anything )

I feel like Aldo might be too polished for Pettis. I kind of see him picking Anthony apart in a GSP sort of way where he puts on a technical clinic that may not lead to a finish, but will still be a work of art to behold.

According to Dana White in the post fight UFC 157 media scrum, Jose Aldo doesn't want to fight Anthony Pettis because he doesn't believe he deserves the fight.

Didn't seem to have any problem with Edgar coming off two losses (second one debateable, granted) and getting a shot.

Weird. Hate calling fighters 'scared' but dunno how else to take this. Pettis did look scary good against Cerrone so I wouldnt blame him.

I honestly feel like he's too well polished for Pettis and would pick him apart. I don't think it's fear as much as him being delusional. He probably thinks he has the stroke of an Anderson Silva or GSP and can pick and choose who he fights, but dude isn't anywhere near that level.

Aldo should do his f'n job and fight, not Joe Silva's job and book fights..

If Aldo beats Pettis he gets an immediate shot at Bendo's title - @MMAJunkieJohn

Hopefully the same is true for Pettis if he wins.

Prolly not true for Pettis. Aldo has embarrased the 145 division. Pettis provides a new champion nad 'new hope' for all the people Aldo has embarrassed.
