WWE star Jack Swagger was arrested last night in Mississippi, TMZ has learned -- after allegedly driving under the influence ... with pot in his car.

Sources close to the situation tell TMZ, Swagger -- real name Jacob Hager -- was leaving a "Smackdown" taping at Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi when he was pulled over for speeding.

According to law enforcement, the officer who pulled him over determined Swagger was driving under the influence -- and a search revealed Swagger was in possession of marijuana.

We're told Swagger -- a former WWE World Heavyweight champ -- was taken in by local sheriff's deputies ... and later released on his own recognizance.

He has been charged with DUI, marijuana possession, and speeding -- all misdemeanors.

We reached out to WWE, who tells TMZ, "Mr. Swagger is responsible for his own personal actions."

Yah I would imagine with the spotlight already being on Swagger due to the Tea Party's bogus complaints, that this incident means Swagger is out for Mania. Straight up Dolph vs. ADR would be great, as would a multi-man match with possible participants Ziggler, Jericho, Orton, Big Show, Sheamus, and Mark HENRY.. Forget the rest of my post. Any WWE Talent, who is arrested, convicted or who admits to a violation of law relating to use, possession, purchase, sale or distribution of drugs will be in material breach of his/her contract with WWE and subject to immediate dismissal.

In addition to the penalties that may be imposed pursuant to his/her contract with WWE, a violation of this Section 14 may also be treated as a positive test for drugs prohibited by this Policy and therefore, subject to the penalties set forth in Section 15 of this Policy.

Have we seen the last of Swagger? Is Vince mad enough to fire the #1 contender this close to Mania? The policy gives him the right to do it.

Fucking hell Swagger. :(

This seems to be a trend. Someone goes through a certain amount of shit during their time in WWE but they stick in there and stay with the company, then finally they get given a fantastic push but right as it's picking up steam, they endanger it with drug use.

I really don't want Swagger to become another Regal.

I get the feeling Vince will be pissed at Swagger but I don't think it'll change WrestleMania. because having a little weed with you is probably just a minor misdemeanor that comes with a cute little fine

duis are serious offenses that carry jail time

plus duis are big "public" offenses these days where everyone freaks out

Holy toledo. This will be interesting to see develop going forward. I have a feeling somebody is going to challenge Swagger for his WrestleMania title shot on RAW. They still have 6 weeks until WrestleMania, so this won't be a complete disaster for WWE. I hope they just have Zeb recruit somebody else and switch the gimmick over to another person. Personally, I think there is a lot of money in turning Rey heel and hating illegal immigrants which leads to Rey Mysterio (w/ Zeb Colter) vs Sin Cara at WrestleMania.

This is the guy who -just- made national news for having a controversial character...and now he's arrested for a DUI and possession. This is exactly the kind of press WWE doesn't want. Swagger is done. And if he isn't done, he'll be around jobbing. How many Swagger signs with questionable content do you think WWE will be confiscating next monday? And from now on? How would the WWE look if they didn't fire him?

Swagger is absolutely done in no uncertain terms. This is an all-time fuck up - even worse than RVD because at least RVD was already a top guy. Swagger was just getting his stride. Imagine HBK winning the 1995 Rumble, then getting a damn DUI. Just crazy.

If we see him this Monday, it will be to job out his title shot to someone. And we won't see him on WWE television again.

I never liked Swagger that much (read: at all), but this new character was getting me to at least pay attention - although I found it bland as all hell. That said, it's a shame that when he got his shot, he fucked up THIS bad. Goodbye Swaggie Time. Maybe now Ziggler will cash in and Jericho somehow gets a title shot? That leaves ADR out to dry, so I guess you could force a ADR-Ziggler feud real quick, too.

James Steele
02-21-2013, 12:22 AM
She got a 15 day suspension, but she didn't have weed and wasn't in the WrestleMania main event.

Maybe they tie it into the storyline where Zeb worked it out with Vickie (since Vickie and Swagger worked together in the past) that instead of just firing him they are making him go to AA meetings and such. If he fails to do so, he will be fired. If he makes progress in the rehabilitation program, he will get his title shot as planned. 6 weeks until WrestleMania. Little do they know that Vickie also added to the agreement that Zeb has to go for sensitivity training. In order to keep them together and on the road, they will both do their therapy together with none other than Dr. Shelby.

Cue Del Rio and Ricardo trying to sabotage them. Plates of brownies in the locker room, beer cans at ringside, Burritos left in bags, Spanish overdubs of their promos, etc. Hell, have a special appearance from Stone Cold where he offers a beer to Swagger. STUNNER. Cue Del Rio and Austin laughing it up and then show Del Rio putting cases of Corona in Stone Cold's truck. Have Jack Swagger do a "Luche Libre Challenge" where he promises to beat luchadors in 5 minutes or he will pay them $1,000,000 pesos (roughly $78,500). Del Rio costs him a match against Super Porky. Suddenly, La Parka comes out and beats the shit out of Zeb and Swagger with a chair. Del Rio then gives a bunch of money to La Parka as he moonwalks out of the arena.

Then, they rip off the CM Punk/Jericho angle from last year and have Swagger act like he is completely baked and Del Rio orders a live drug test. Swagger then comes unglued and beats the shit out of them. He then pours his cup of *clean* piss down Del Rio's throat. Zeb Colter then grabs the mic and "I bet that still tastes better than any crappy imported beer! You better watch it, boy, because when you piss off WE THE PEOPLE, you will get PISSED ON and BEAT ON because WE'RE PISSED OFF AND NEED TO BEAT OFF!" Swagger then looks at Zeb awkwardly as Zeb slowly realizes what he said. Zeb then gets livid and beats the shit out of Ricardo and Del Rio with his belt. Booker T. announces that the World Heavyweight Championship match between Swagger and Del Rio will now be a LEATHER STRAP MATCH where not only the title will be on the line, but if Del Rio wins then Ricardo gets to beat Zeb Colter with a belt and if Swagger wins then Zeb gets to beat Ricardo with his belt. Del Rio wins, but Swagger ties Del Rio's arm to the bottom rope with the leather strap. Cue Dolph Ziggler and him cashing in the MITB contract.

to me this is a bigger issue of more egg going on the company because of the controversy over the character generating buzz and then this happens where the media can point and laugh at WWE. in a way mirrors the hacksaw/iron shiek ordeal where your employees do a jackass thing but it causes a 2nd set of problems aside from the dui

so you are saying... since workrate doesnt matter (which i wholeheartedly agree with) that swagger is skilled based on his promos?? dude is horrendous on the mic.

the attraction of this angle is with dutch mantel, not swagger. Swagger does not blow anyone away in the ring or on the stick to my knowledge.

Mantel, Heyman and vickie are hopefully leading a charge of quality mouthpieces to be featured more in the WWE which have been missing for quite some time.

Xpac heat

No one gave a shit about swagger because he won the title out of no where, and has a bland personality.

Not saying Dolph is a groundbreaking heel or anything. He's the generic arrogant heel just like swagger was, but he does it way better IMO.

Doesn't help that every time swagger gets a main event push, it's preceded by him jobbing out in the midcard.

i tubed 3 pieces of swagger's work. the promo package of his fued with show was the best of the three but still seems show was doing the heavy lifting of the build while swagger likely did the better work in rong of the two

one prommo after he became ECW champion that was not at all impressive, likely he was still green

and the promo after cashing in mitb against jericho, was tough to watch for the first 4 mins as he gave his promo, jericho arrived and within seconds owned the mic promo wise.

Swagger is by no means the worst thing ever, but far from a total package. aside from the look you go gaga over gertie not sure how you call him fantastic. but you are entitled to your opinion.

tend to agree more with fig , that his title run was ass like most runs are when they are from cashing in MITB

#1-norm-fan
02-21-2013, 02:42 AM
It's pretty much thanks to booking obviously. It's true though. Ziggler has been insignificant lately. The man has been expendable on Raw, hasn't been involved in anything and got tossed into a throwaway match at the PPV. I almost wish he didn't have the MITB case because it seems like it's just given the writers a reason to be lazy with him. "He's got that case. We don't need to keep him relevant or anything."

Fignuts
02-21-2013, 02:46 AM
I think that's because swaggers gimmick is fresh, where as Dolph has been doing the same thing for quite a while. As good as he is, he could stand to freshen up his character.

And again, although swagger is more interesting right now, I think that has a lot more to do with zeb and less with swagger himself.

Put zeb with someone else, and I won't even miss swagger.

#1-norm-fan
02-21-2013, 02:49 AM
Swagger fills the role well though. Let's not completely discredit him.

I don't think Dolph's character needs freshening up either. He's good at it and he never really peaked with it. He just needs to be involved in shit. It's insane how little attention they've been paying to keeping him relevant.

Way for Swagger to screw up. Hopefully this will spare us from seeing a match that wouldn't even main event a June PPV from being on the biggest show of the year.

Swagger's gimmick was interesting, but nothing that I'm going to miss if they throw it out. Swagger is a good wrestler but so was Rob Van Dam (who was better and way more over) and they stopped RVD's push dead when he got arrested. I think its almost certain that Swagger is out of Wrestlemania and off TV probably for a few months.

Do I think its right? I'm on the fence. On one hand I think that what happens outside the arena should not effect what happens in the ring, and on the other hand the WWE has every right to protect the type of image they want to have.

Swagger should've taken one look at those cops, stuck his arms out at his sides, and bellowed "DUUUUUUUHHHHHHRRRRRR!!!!!". That's important, I think it's a Dragon Ball Z thing like he's raising his Ki or something. After that, transition every move they make into an ANKLE LOCK!

Asking him to get out of the car? ANKLE LOCK!
Try to give him a breathalyzer? ANKLE LOCK!
Take a step towards him? ANKLE L... PATRIOT ACT!!!! (it's called "freshening up his character!")

Okay, so these were all misdemeanors in the state of Mississippi, right? Meaning that he hasn't officially violated the WWE Wellness Policy. These indictments are based on an officer's testimony and the facts presented at the time the citations were given and the arrest was made. Sure, that sucks for him, and he sounds like he made some shit decisions.

Remember when R-Truth got busted violating the WP, and he stayed on to finish a buildup to Survivor Series? The WWE is a business, and they've invested a lot into Swagger's push. Even if it just leads to a squash job at 'Mania now to set an example and bust him down, they'd be stupid to switch gears instantly because of this. Let it ride until 'Mania, and deal with it afterwards. It's not like Linda's running for office anymore, so they can dodge for a few months.
