View Full Version : How would you guys feel about a Wade Barrett face turn in 2013?

And if you would like it, how would you book it?

I'm watching Smackdown from Friday and thinking about how Barrett was the clean shaven leader of Nexus, getting crazy heat against Cena, then when he came back from injury, he had the beard and a bit of edginess added to his look. He's certainly got the charisma and the mic skills imo, and little intangibles he does on the show make him look like a natural, so much so I think a face/tweener situation would be great for him; he'd be able to pull it off nicely.

Your opinions?

He hasn't reached his full potential as a heel yet. They need to stress the "fight club" gimmick more like they did with his debut vignettes and let him go on a streak of terror. Preferably not jobbing to Bo Dallas ever, ever... EVER again. Until they can put some focus on him as a character and give him some stability to where he can establish himself as a top heel, I wouldn't even think about a face turn.

Did they like abandon the Bo Dallas/Wade Barrett feud or something?

I would like to see Sheamus and Barrett have a proper program together. It seems like they've been hinting at it lately. Maybe even have a best-of-7 event culminating at Wrestlemania for the IC title. The winner extends a handshake to the loser and a bond is formed. Together they start teaming up, while also enjoying a pint and kicking ass.

No, he should join with Zeb Colter and become a super American patriot and renounce his Britishness and rip up a photo of the Queen. Then he can start talking with a southern accent and he could be the modern day Bobby Jaggers. RIP.

I guess. They should at least bring it back for one night so Barrett can destroy the little shit and get his win back though.

Barrett isn't in Sheamus' league position-wise. I can't see Barrett becoming that relevant that soon and I can't see them wasting a Sheamus WrestleMania match on what would have to amount to a throwaway match with the IC champion.

Sheamus vs a heel Orton on the other hand would be stellar.

An eventual Barrett-Dallas double turn would be pretty sweet. How to book it? Dallas becomes more aggressive as his feud with Barrett goes on much like Kofi Kingston did when facing Dolph Ziggler in a series of a dozen or so matches. Unlike the Kingston scenario, Bo takes it to the logical conclusion of maniacal obsession with violence ala Mr. Hyde.

Have him bust out faux-MMA moves in a pale imitation of Lesnar in hopes of beating Barrett but lose due to disqualification through illegal holds, foreign objects, etc. There's your heel Dallas! Have Wade maintain the high road to be a matter-of-fact face.

unless he gets a heel run with a major title, I have no desire seeing him as a face.....

If (when) he wins a World Title, it'll be the WHC. I see no possible way he gets even close to the WWE Title for a looooooong time, if at all.

So he should do that first as a heel, see what happens, and then think about a face turn. It's not necessary at this time.

With all these PPVs, there's so many opportunities to get some heels a chance to main event a PPV without putting too much stock in them early.

Even though they didn't follow up with it well at all, having John Cena defend the WWE title against R-Truth in the main event of Capitol Punishment was awesome. I know a lot of people bitched about the end of the match but it was a great way to let Cena do something new and let an underdog heel get a little bit of a spotlight in the main event and "hang" with the top guy despite falling short. They should do that with a heel like Barrett once in a while at a random No Way Out or something.

I agree. I mean, Cena going over wasn't surprising, but I loved how a heel had a shot at the title at a PPV in the main event. They really built truth as a crazy man that would be in the stands talking to kids, and that "Wow is he gonna hurt that kid?" feeling was lingering a bit.

If they had followed up with it, could have been really nice for Truth in terms of heel status.
