So I've got what I assume to be the current low-end laptop from Dell. The Inspiron 3520 w/ Windows 8. The current video card is what came with it. Intel HD Graphics 3000.

I'm wondering if it's worth it or even possible to put a better card into this.

Due to circumstances it's the only PC I'll have from some time, but if I can at least up the video RAM to 256MB or even 512MB, it'd be a drastic improvement over the disappointing 32MB.

Any help or advice turning shit a bearable minimum is appreciated

Have a look in the BIOS for options on increasing the available shared RAM to the video card. It will take it off the regular RAM though, so be careful.

Won't make a huge amount of difference though.

Doesn't look like that laptop has any space for a dedicated graphics card, best you can do now is see if you can put in an Ivy Bridge processor with the HD4000 integrated graphics.
