Kick-Ass, Hit Girl and Red Mist return for the follow-up to 2010’s irreverent global hit: ‘Kick-Ass 2.’ After Kick-Ass’ (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse)—reborn as The Mother F%&*^r—only the blade-wielding Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) can prevent their annihilation. When we last saw junior assassin Hit Girl and young vigilante Kick-Ass, they were trying to live as normal teenagers Mindy and Dave. With graduation looming and uncertain what to do, Dave decides to start the world’s first superhero team with Mindy.
Unfortunately, when Mindy is busted for sneaking out as Hit Girl, she’s forced to retire—leaving her to navigate the terrifying world of high-school mean girls on her own. With no one left to turn to, Dave joins forces with Justice Forever, run by a born-again ex-mobster named Colonel Stars and Stripes. Just as they start to make a real difference on the streets, the world’s first super villain, The Mother F%&*^r, assembles his own evil league and puts a plan in motion to make Kick-Ass and Hit Girl pay for what they did to his dad. But there’s only one problem with his scheme: If you mess with one member of Justice Forever, you mess with them all.

No way this follows the book to a T.
Actually, kinda hope it doesnt...the book went too much for shock value.

Yeah there's no way half the violence of the book makes it into the flick.
Still stoked for it.

Wonder if they'll combine the KA2 and Hit-Girl comics for this or just follow KA2. Also, if they do the bit with Carey and his dog, I might feel a bit uneasy.

They are combining them.

That makes sense then since Hit-Girl happened before KA2. Granted KA3 starts in May so I guess we know what the third movie will be about before we see the second.

Saw this movie this morning! Was awesome! Online reviews seem pretty mixed at the moment, but overall I thought this was great, and if you enjoyed the first then you'll definitely enjoy this.

There's a scene after the credits. Didn't really think it was all worth waiting to see, but whatever, giving ya a heads up anyway. :y:

Awesome.
And like the jet pack in part 1 there is an action sequence at the end that veers into 'super'-heroics and seems outta place but it was very cool.
The Motherfucker is hilarious start to finish, not one scene where he doesn't have a gag.

I'll watch it with the feeling that there should have been a Hit Girl movie because I can't be arsed to give a shit about Kickass.

Donald Faison was a good choice for Dr. Gravity.

Enjoyed it for the most part. It frustrates me, though, when
sequels take away the best part of the original. Hit-Girl carried the first movie, and she only gets like three scenes in this one. The high school stuff was entertaining I guess, but it wasn't Kick-Ass.

Just can't please everyone! If they didn't have all that high-school stuff, you'd be complaining about a lack of "character development". :p

I really wouldn't. I'm totally fine with her doing nothing but kicking ass and swearing.

It's because they took 2 different comic books and combined them into 1 this time around.

What books? I thought the first issue of Kick Ass 3 just hit shelves.

Kick-Ass 2 (comic) was merged with Hit-Girl's mini series for Kick-Ass 2 (movie), hence a lot more Hit-Girl stuff. She's probably getting her own film after Kick-Ass 3 anyway.
I don't go near the books, though, I wanna be fresh as possible.

I wouldn't think you need to the movie stays really close to the source for the most part. There are two relatively big changes.
The first is that in the book, it's revealed that Big Daddy isn't an ex cop, but in fact, just a comic geek. I actually like that the film changed it, as its kind of hard to believe a comic nerd could do what he did over a trained cop.
The second change I didn't like. In the book, when he reveals that he's kickass and that he's not gay, she pretty much tells him that he's a creepy perv and to fuck off. The whole point of kick ass is to eschew traditional comic cliches. One of which is "The Hero always gets the girl". So when he does get the girl in the movie, it feels contradictory to everything else. I don't know why they changed that part. Maybe they thought it was too grim and depressing with out it. Dunno.

I guess it was more mainstream friendly, but she was blew off fairly quickly (and hilariously) in this one. Right then I seen the 'new' romantic angle coming - I wasn't sure how far they'd go.
Still a better love story than Twilight.
