Will a dual core i3 be enough to handle Skyrim?

Probably, depends on what resolution/level of graphical intensity you want, I'm sure.

Well here is my question in a bit more detail, I can get an i5 and budgeted towards it but was wondering if I needed it. I suppose I could do lower res but would want to upgrade anyway.
I plan on modding with realistic lighting and water, wet and cold, probably a bunch of others as well.

That is the system with an i5 and 1GB video card option taken.

The i5 would be more future-proof, IMO
And what happened to building your own system?

Funds and time, My current comp is on its way.
However, I found a local place that will build for you from chosen parts. I found a good build after noticing the 350W PS would not be sufficient. New one would be around $70 more.
Apologies for mobile screencap.

That seems like a very basic build, is it the one that's on the way?

I haven't ordered it yet, getting feedback first but it is upgradable I know in both ram, processor and can accept a second video card as well so I can buy upgrades over time.
Basically wanted something to run Skyrim at good settings and followed the requirements. I want an uberleet machine but on a 700 budget, this is what I have.

Managed to get one set up, gotta call the place tomorrow but it's looking like the following
i5
Mobo with support to 32gb
1gb sapphire video card
1.5 TB HD
550w PSU
4gb dd3
win 7 64 premium
Not too bad, assembled, warrantied and taxed for 800.

Managed to locate a good gaming system within my budget, so fucking pumped right now.
Product Description
AMD AM3+ FX4100 3.6 Gig Quadcore PC
Asus M5A97 AM3+ ATX MB, DDR3, DDR3, SATA
4 Gigs DDR3 PC 1333 RAM-Kingston
1 Gig HD7770 PCIe Video Card-Sapphire
500Gig WD5000AAKX 7200 RPM HD 16M
ATX Coolermaster RC 335 with CM 525W
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit Software
LG GH22NS50 SATA DVDR/RW
3.5 Card Reader
Gigabit Lan
Environmental Recycling Fee
1 Year Parts and Labor Warranty
First three upgrades will be 2gb RAM sticks to fill the slots. Up it to 10GB, then probably will get that second video card and a new power supply at the same time and up it to 1.8GB.
Then, see how difficult it would be to put Windows over onto a SSD and use that 500gb for storage, or maybe replace it with a 1TB.
Christ, I am going to be broke with this thing.
