I sometimes read about on blogs that a certain match involving cruiserweights has been a "spotfest" but isn't that the reason people watch cruiserweight matches to begin with?

Pretty much every ROH match is aa spotfest, but their fans claim it's "high workrate" and their rasslers are better. Which clearly they aren't. Also, their fans are obese and need to rape women in order to get laid. They also commit incest. It's how Wishbone was created. An obese brother and sister fucked during a Low Ki vs Jimmy Rave match and bam: Wishbone.
