This league moved away from a snake draft a while ago, and I have no interest in going back to one.

Also, I checked my stats, and it looks like it will be my 9th year in this league, and 10th playing FFB. Pretty cool.

Not much really. Just making sure that everything is ticking over. It just means that if I am out of contact for a month for example then there is someone who can deal with things.

Done. It is also useful because I don't check into the forums very often so I might miss something.

Boomer

We had 16 last year, and as far as I know, and it gets changed based on amount of interest. I doubt we will have a 20 team league.

I'd say we're about as likely to change it to 12 just for you as you are to change your ellipsis to three dots. I like smaller leagues too, but I also prefer getting as many forum people in as possible (provide they actually end up playing instead of missing the draft and not playing with their shitty team).

I don't want anybody to miss the draft. Seriously, it's booked long enough in advance that there's no reason to miss it.

Auto-drafts fuck up auction leagues. Usually the auto-drafting team will get screwed in the long run but it's a lock that they'll overbid for a few stars that nobody else in the league gets a chance at having.

I don't see what's wrong with expanding the league to 12 teams to accomodate 2 more players, one of whom would be Kris P. It's early June so I'm sure at least one more person will come around and want to join once the NFL is heavily in the news again.

I invited Kris P because I know he plays and won't disappear midseason like the 3 or 4 players in last year's league.

There's not even 20 good QBs.

Just make sure a passing touchdown is 6 points. Fuck this pussy Yahoo 4 point shit.

Boomer
06-02-2013, 11:59 PM
The chance of us making 20 teams is slim. I presume Moonax just put an open number there for keeping it open-ended.

And I completely disagree with changing passing TDs to 6. The top 5 point-scorers in the league were at QB last year (9 of the top 10 as well); I'm not for the rich getting richer.

The league is always set to allow the maximum number of people to participate.

It is not intended to be a narrow elitist league but one which is open to new players.

A larger league does make players more valuable. In a small league everyone can have a stud RB, a star WR and a star QB. There is very little skill or thought needed in constructing a roster. You can dip into the FA pool and pull out a decent replacement without having to think about it. A larger league means that there are more people drinking from the same pool. It means that you actually have to give some thought to constructing your roster.

Scoring is set the same as last year.

Passing Yards 25 yards per point
Passing Touchdowns 6
Interceptions -2
Sacks -1
Rushing Yards 10 yards per point
Rushing Touchdowns 6
Receptions 0.5
Reception Yards 10 yards per point
Reception Touchdowns 6
Return Yards 20 yards per point
Return Touchdowns 6
2-Point Conversions 2
Fumbles -1
Fumbles Lost -2
Offensive Fumble Return TD 6

Kickers

Field Goals 0-19 Yards 3
Field Goals 20-29 Yards 3
Field Goals 30-39 Yards 3
Field Goals 40-49 Yards 4
Field Goals 50+ Yards 5
Point After Attempt Made 1

Defensive Players
Tackle Solo 1
Tackle Assist 0.5
Sack 3
Interception 3
Fumble Force 2
Fumble Recovery 2
Defensive Touchdown 6
Safety 2
Pass Defended 1
Block Kick 3 2
Tackles for Loss 1
Turnover Return Yards 10 yards per point

One requirement of the league is a developed set of social skills in which you can articulate your thoughts rationally, intelligently and coherently.

Boomer
06-03-2013, 08:36 AM
Oh shit I totally thought we had passing TDs as 4 instead of 6. Maybe we had it set that way in the past? Can't remember. No wonder QBs dominated last year though. Just from a minor check of stats, Drew Brees would still have had the second most points in the league instead of first with 4 points per TD instead of 6 (Since AP is the only non-QB in the top 10). I might argue that we change it to 4, but I don't think it would get a lot of traction, so its not a big deal. Guess it just makes playing with a mid-tier QB more viable.

Moonax
06-03-2013, 09:05 AM
It's been 6 points across the board as long as I can recall.

I'd argue that with IDP in particular, investing all your money in a stud QB is not necessarily the way to go.

Several times last year it was my D, or a solid performance from WR3 or my flex player that saved me.

Every player is a hit away from being out for the season, so personally I'd always try to avoid doing my nuts on one player. This however, is just my personal point of view.

Boomer
06-03-2013, 01:20 PM
Defense is a big deal in our league mostly because some people just don't understand how IDP works and the difference can be like 30+ points between those who plan for it and those who don't. But those QB numbers are crazier than I expected them to be.

I think that reflects the inflated passing stats of the current era. Short of really gerrymandering the cats I am not sure how to balance it out.

Plus almost everyone has a game (usually an important game) where their QB throws 3 ints gets sack 5 times and fumbles twice giving them -5 for the game.

we have 12 teams max. the only really special thing is you get a half point per reception oh, and 6 points per passing TD, because why is a TD worth 4 points to a QB, but 6 to a receiver/rb?. auction style draft

DaveWadding

DaveWadding
08-18-2013, 01:31 AM
yeah. you have a budget of like 260$ or something and you have to fill your team. So if Jay Cutler comes up, everyone bids on him and the highest bid wins and drafts him to their team. Way more fair / conducive to having a "draft strategy"

Anyway. Draft is at 1:00 or so right? I might have to duck out early, have a pickup softball game around 4:00. By then should be down to the nitty gritty anyway and hopefully I'll have most of my team picked out.

Just blow most of your auction money on 3-4 stud players so the autodraft won't fuck you too much
crossrine

That's basically what autodraft does for you, anyway. They've set the AI now so it will never bid more than the Average Price for any particular player (in year's past, it would keep going higher and higher than that). But it will vault straight to that price. So basically if somebody autodrafts, it's a guarantee that they'll get AP albeit at the cost of like $72.

road doggy dogg
08-29-2013, 10:10 AM
Oh yeah? Haven't done any auctions this year yet so I've yet to see that. Usually Yahoo lists the "Projected price" (their price, basically), then the "Average price" (what has actually been happening), and AFAIK they would always autobid you up to the projected price. That's why if you're with autodrafters it's hilarious to nominate kickers early on because the autodrafters would instantly bid up to the projected price of like $6-7 for a kicker. Excellent.

If it goes off the "average price" now, that makes a little more sense. Gives a more accurate representation of player value.

That being said, if you do need to leave early, it is wise to spend money fast and early on guys you want on your team, to ensure you have your team mostly sorted how you'd like it. Better to blow $150 on 5 players you know are going to be studs than have the engine spend that money on 7-8 guys who you didn't want.
crossrine

Evil Vito
08-29-2013, 10:18 AM
Yeah. I had the first nomination in last Sunday's draft so I nominated Gostkowski hoping to start a bidding war but the AI didn't budge. We did it with Krispy, but he still wound up with like Arian Foster, Brandon Marshall, etc. only surefire way to pull it off is to have everybody nominate shitty/mediocre players early on. And it's rare to get everybody to cooperate.

I get that an all, but I dunno. Seem to remember a baseball auction league a few months back where autopick spent a guys entire budget on like the 4 best players in the league and he wound up winning the league by a mile.

I guess in the NFL it's not as sure of a thing because of injuries and stuff, but it's still annoying knowing that so many good players will be out of reach unless you decide to match autopick's mental retardation.

Whoevever nominates him will draft him. He probably has like a value of a dollar which means no autopicker will make a bid.

My real problem is that the autopicker bids like an asshole and always waits until the last second to make the bid higher. Can't get any good value picks with people autopicking.

What's the point of the IR spots? This isn't a keeper league, is it?

Evil Vito
09-01-2013, 05:20 PM
IR in fantasy is kinda like DL spots in baseball. Just a way to stash a guy and free up an extra roster spot until the injured guy returns.

SlickyTrickyDamon

It's been essentially useless until they introduced a new short-term IR last season. I think the only use for it was in keeper leagues until last season.

Moonax
09-01-2013, 06:25 PM
What I want to see is if they are going to add an NA position as they did in baseball this year. This means you could keep those players who are suspended for half the season.

SlickyTrickyDamon
09-01-2013, 06:32 PM
Might be too much of a safety net for people who accidentally draft suspended people.

My team is awesome if I do say so myself. Having a celebratory beer. One more draft to go tomorrow during Raw so I probably won't be able to post much in the live thread.

Had my draft last night. ESPN ranks me an F. Fuckin hate ESPN, just because I took a couple flyers on rookies and kick returners... Also, it's a keeper league, straight draft, not auction.

QB: Aaron Rodgers, Eli Manning
RB: Jamaal Charles, MJD, Fred Jackson, Jonathan Stewart
WR: Andre Johnson, Devin Hester, Dwayne Bowe, Golden Tate, Dexter McCluster, Reuben Randle, Cordarelle Patterson
TE: Jason Witten, Heath Miller, Tyler Eifert
D/ST: Bengals, Rams
K: Blair Walsh, Janikowski

QB: Kaepernick, Cutler
RB: Murray, MJD, Pierre Thomas, Ben Tate
WR: Vincent Jackson, Victor Cruz, Sidney Rice, Vincent Brown

Part of me desperately wants to believe this is a championship group, but I feel like I should probably shop Graham for another back

I'ma just use this thread as a generic "cool story bro" fantasy-related thread to discuss all fun things here.

In a 10 teamer I did over the weekend, I was Skyping it in with some IRL bros. Had to leave early for family obligations so I stayed long enough to draft my starting team and had them draft my bench with "best player available". Anyway lineups were finally entered last night. As expected, had some scrubs so I hounded the FA pool for replacements.

Somehow, in a 10 team league, Le'Veon Bell went undrafted. o_O

Got burned on 2 waiver claims this morning in a league with my buddy. Everybody put in for Julius Thomas. But I thought I had the inside track on Julian Edelman and I would land him. Didn't.

I have #1 waiver in one league but not sure if anyone in week 1 really set themselves up to be worth burning it on. Julius Thomas yeah sure but I see him being a lot more "feast or famine" (hate cliches) than a solid weekly contributor. Eric Decker isn't going to put up too many stat lines like his week 1 line. Hate chasing points.

Edelman is intriguing, especially if Amendola is out and with Vereen's injury. I could see him being solid for a few weeks until Amendola and Gronk are healthy, then he'll probably be lost in the shuffle. Dunno. Again, not sure if I wanna burn a #1 waiver on him.

Nobody else really wowed me week 1.

Trying to decide between Jay Cutler and Russel Wilson in one of my leagues. One downside to not making sure to pick up an elite QB is you can't just "set it and forget it". Always faced with these decisions.

Cutler passes more and he's playing New Orleans so it should be a shoot-out. Wilson can pick up some rushing yards playing in the dome against Indy. Plus he seems like the "safer" pick.

I DUNNO.

I just picked up a bunch of guys that do mostly unremarkable work but get a ton of targets and get 4-6 points a game in addition to the normal stuff. In comparison to my opponent in the finals, my team is absolute garbage. My best RB right now is Fred Jackson.

I will also mention that I had the most points scored against me of any team in the league this year, so I'm not exactly lucky either. I mean inasmuch as fantasy is a bunch of luck anyway, but...

Half a point per reception seems silly. All or nothing.

I like PPR. Provides more WR options since you, as you did, can get guys who aren't top-tier and still do well so you don't have to "waste" early draft picks.
