So, finally the good news was given to us and soon we'll be seeing a Mirror's Edge 2.
Any thoughts at all on the game? Guesses at the release date? Possible story for the game? Anything?

I can't stop watching the trailer.

From the trailer, I get the feeling it'll be somewhat of a prequel to the first game. I'm mostly just assuming this as we see Faith receiving her tattoos in the trailer, along with other minor things.

New Mirror's Edge is a reboot, coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC
by Sinan Kubba on Jun 10th 2013 6:00PM
The new Mirror's Edge revealed at E3 today is a reboot. EA's press release reveals the game "reboots the franchise for the next generation with advanced visuals and an all-new origins story for Faith." The game is "coming when it's ready" to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
"We introduced Mirror's Edge and Faith to gamers five years ago, and we've waited for the right moment to reunite them," said DICE Senior Producer Sara Jansson "Thanks to the Frostbite engine and a new generation of platforms, we are now able to deliver a richer world that players will be able to explore with a new level of freedom in both movement and action."

Why is everyone getting a boner over Mirror's Edge 2? Yeah the first one was something different but I personally didn't feel blown away by it, at the end of the day all you doing is running and jumping, I may as well be playing a Mario game.

If you don't understand don't even bother to ask.
And yo; if this doesn't have CTF it is auto-fail.

Loved the first one.
Combat felt awkward on first playthrough, but a big component of the game is multiple playthroughs to get the fastest time. Once you play through a level enough, learn the timing for all the jumps, and learn the enemy placement, you can zoom through it, taking down heavily armed soldiers like they were nothing, and making you feel like a total bad ass.

One of my all-time favorite gaming memories @1:55 mark (http://youtu.be/Tfr3AtF6ULs?t=1m55s), and such a fantastic song.
I remember getting chills when I (She) looked up to the Shard, the looked back down like "lets fuckin' do this".

The same can pretty much be said for COD, Battlefield, Killzone and so on.
Personally, I don't get why people get boners over those as all you're doing is either shooting guys in the desert/ruined village or in the future. I may as well be playing Perfect Dark or something like GoldenEye.
Also, the story for Mirror's Edge is pretty damn good. Personally, I find it better than the "You're in a war. Shoot stuff" stories.

I agree, the soundtrack was fantastic. It added a lot to the game. :y:
I'd also rank it up there as one of my favourite soundtracks of the current gen.

This wouldn't be a problem if you'd stop liking things I don't like.

EA Labels boss Frank Gibeau describes new project as "open-world action adventure game."
The new Mirror's Edge game officially announced this week will feature an open world, publisher Electronic Arts confirmed this morning during a conference call.
EA Labels boss Frank Gibeau described the new game as a cult classic and said it enjoyed a "great fan reaction" at E3's briefing on Monday.
"We're bringing Faith back in this open-world [emphasis added] action adventure game," Gibeau said.
The Mirror's Edge sequel is currently in development for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. According to developer DICE, it will be released "when it's ready."

Dunno how I feel about the open world aspect. I liked the linear approach in MI. And this is coming from someone who lives for the open world genre.

EA announces they are following a strategy similar to what was done with Dead Space 3 with the idea of "expanding the audience" with Mirror's Edge 2.

Really looking forward to seeing what is said and shown at E3. Hopefully we get a release date, and more gameplay footage would also be good.

Still no release date, but I guess that gives us something to look forward to next year.
Interesting video though.

According to DICE, Mirror's Edge 2 will have a stronger focus towards combat unlike the first game.
"What I can say is that if the last game focused on first-person movement, it was definitely shown in the movie here that the DICE team will be focusing on first-person combat as well, to really nail and refine that," Troedsson told CVG.
"Fans of the game will just have to wait and see until we talk more about the actual game is [sic] and the vital mechanics of it," Troedsson said. "We've shown the combat and movement now, but there's so much more to talk about. What I can say is, this is not just going to be the same game as the last one. We're building Faith for a new generation."

I like the sound of that.
It's all sounding very positive so far and it sounds like they're really taking the upcoming game seriously.
At least to me it does.

Building her for a new generation? She only debuted a few years ago. It's not like she's a 90's or even early 2000s character who needs a reboot. The SAME generation is going to play her game.
So what I'm getting here is some kind of silly mechanic seen in other modern games that didn't exist just a few years ago. More hand holding and perhaps greater emphasis on multiplayer (not in the good way, the awkward NFS always online way).

This is only good news if the you can engage in combat without slowing down.
If not, adding more combat is just missing the entire point of the game completely.

I thought I'd resurrect this thread seeing as we now have more details.

Four things:
Finally we have a release date. Only 252 days to go.
It's open world, which could be interesting.
No loading screens. Cool.
And what the hell was I thinking using that blue font for my old posts? I now see why it was so badly received.
