Just watched the French "Zombie" drama The Returned earlier on and it was pretty fucking great. Really creepy in some places, gripping, well acted all round and a bunch of supernatural plots going on which should be pretty good as it all unfolds. Anyone else watched it? If not you should.
Apparently it's also called "Rebound" in some places, dunno, haven't looked into that really. It aired here in the UK on Sunday so there's probably some torrents/streams with English subs going around, or for UK people it's on 4oD now.
"The Returned opens in a small mountain community which is rocked to its core when several local people who are presumed dead suddenly re-appear at their homes. Despite having passed away some years earlier, these ghostly characters appear in human form, they have not aged, and they are completely unaware of their own fatality. Determined to reclaim their lives and start over, they slowly come to realize that they are not the only ones to have been brought back from the dead. Their return augers torment for their community when a series of gruesome murders bear a chilling resemblance to the work of a serial killer from the past."

Yeah I had read that somewhere. Still haven't watched it yet.
Having a TV catchup day today, so I will do my best.

Watched the second episode earlier on and it was just as brilliant as the first. It's got a Twin Peaks vibe about it minus the humour.
Lots of mysteries going on and I'm pretty eager to find out what's going down.
Also the older redhead bird is bangin'.

Just watched the first episode and I quite liked it. I do like something where I have absolutely no clue what's going on.

Have you watched any more yet? I want to ramble on about it to people. Might just ramble to myself about it all.

No. :(
Been busy this week so I've had not had much chance, but I've got episodes 2 and 3 recorded and ready to go.
I'm right up to date, Iggy. The Missus loves it so we'll be watching week in, week out.

Yesssss. How good is it! The little kid seems to be the biggest mystery. I'm wondering what was up with the scar on Lena's back though. The plot with the dam losing water is getting a bit boring already though. They really need to advance that past the "oh, it's lost some more today" stage.
Well, I suppose that's a mystery that kinda drag along a little. I mean, a 2 minute scene every week as a reminder isn't doing much harm.
The scar thing is intriguing. Heard a theory that Lena/Camille switched places on the day of the crash, so it's actually Lena who returned from the dead. The scar might be the key to that, if Camille had had surgery when she was younger (and Lena hadn't).
Not entirely sure what was going on with Victor appearing as the killer. Is he the killer reborn? Can he willingly change form? Or is it some sort of projection!?
So, just caught the latest episode. No idea what's going on.

4oD isn't working for me at all today, which is frustrating. I'll get onto it tomorrow.
Don't leave me hanging, Iggy!!

Oh right yeah, I actually watched it on Tuesday. It really is brilliant, although I'd say other than in the first episode, nobody really seems to be freaked out at all by any of the returnees. Even Thomas, a policeman, who is probably the most weirded out by it all, seems more concerned that his wife's banging a dead guy 10 years younger than her, than the fact that there's dead people wandering round. That's just a bit of nitpicking really though.
I'm intrigued as to what's up with their appetites for both food and sex seemingly being through the roof. The food thing at first I figured was just down to them being hungry having not ate for x amount of years. But then the aggressive sexual behaviour kinda throws that out a bit.
Also I think Pierre has a pretty key role to play in everything with how he keeps talking about the resurrection happening before. Wait, was that him or the priest? Damn. Whatever, I liked how it turned out he was there when Victor was killed. Wonder who the actual killer was, it's obviously gonna be someone we know.
It was Pierre.
It looks like we're supposed to think that Serge (the younger brother of the guy that works at The Lake Pub) is the killer.
I love how they always say "The Lake Pub" rather than just "the pub" as if there's a ton of pubs in the area.
Seems from the trailer for next week's/future episodes that more people end up with rotting flesh like Lena.

I'm also intrigued why there isn't like a thousand dead people wandering round. Unless there is, but as the audience we're only seeing a handful. From what I can remember there's been just the 5 people, a dog and a butterfly that have "returned."

Going to be honest, I still haven't seen past ep 2.
Everything is on hold while I binge on the Sopranos.

There might very well be a "larger world" beyond what we're seeing immediately but you would think that the other kids on the bus would have come back at the very least. Unless there's a reason why only these select few people (and a couple of animals) have returned.

Finally people are starting to actually talk about and do something about the returned people. Interesting to see that Jullie thinks she might be one of the returned dead people. Wasn't one of the episodes named after her? I think the second episode. All the other episodes have been named after dead people, so it's conceivable.

Seen episode 3 now. The water levels continue to drop and now the toilets in the pub are clogged.
I should get caught up fairly quickly now.

Oh shit yeah, I'd completely forgotten it's actually on real tv on Sunday nights. I don't really watch proper telly and just watch everything online/download, adverts are the bane of my existence. I'll catch it tomorrow though on 4oD and post my thoughts.
Just watched on +1, things are really picking up!!

Well that was something. All of a sudden Lucy's a huge player in this whole thing. Not really sure who all the people Lena ran into at the end was though, were they just people using the fire as light since there's no power, or were they all supposed to be people who have returned?
Dunno what's up with the coffin being full of water either, maybe they're all water-people like in that episode of the animated Spiderman! Okay, probably not. Still, this show's frikking sweet.

Yeah the announcement afterwards just said "next year".
They called it the "Grand Finale" before it aired so I was a little concerned when literally nothing was revealed. Guess they meant "Season Finale".

Well then, that was certainly interesting. No clue what happened, but I think I liked it.
