awful news :( quite often hear "so and so would have accomplished this if he'd been born 20-30 years earlier", this guy would probably have been better off being born 20-30 years later since wrestling nowadays isn't half the "drug and booze" culture that is used to be. On par with guys like Punk, Ambrose, Pillman etc in terms of those guys with "edgy" and believable personalities, could have been a millionaire.

Was gonna make a thread about Doink but figured I'd check for one first. I've spent the last hour or 2 watching all the footage of him from his TV debut playing pranks, through his first TV match up until he wrestled Bossman a few weeks after he attacked Crush, so ridiculously good. With wrestling the way it is nowadays, I doubt we'll ever see a character built so slowly and brilliantly again. I mean, it was over 2 months before they revealed a name for him and 3 months before he even wrestled on TV. Glorious. If you're one of those people that never really saw Doink/just assumed it was a shit gimmick because it's a clown in wrestling, you really should watch the vids.

one of my favs of all-time when he portrayed Doink. He'll be featured a lot on the Mid South DVD too I believe as part of the Rat Pack. Never got to see any of their work so I am looking forward to it.

He stole the show as Doink and his mannerisms and promos were amazing. he took a ridiculous character and made it work perfectly. love watching WrestleMania 9 just for his promo and match.

Matt Osborne, who played Doink the Clown on WWF TV in the 1990s, died from a lethal combination of morphine and hydrocodone, according to the medical examiner who examined Osborne's body postmortem.

TMZ reports that the autopsy report indicates "high levels of the opiates morphine and hydrocodone" in Osborne's system at the time of his death on June 28 in Texas.

The medical examiner concluded in the autopsy: "I am of the opinion that [Osborne], a 55-year-old white man, died as a result of toxic effects of opiates."

The ME also discovered that Osborne had heart disease, which the ME believes was "significant and contributory" to Osborne's death.
