Chris Paul has verbally agreed to a five-year, $107 million contract extension to remain with the Los Angeles Clippers, his agent, Leon Rose, confirmed to ESPNLosAngeles.com on Monday morning.
Decision was between staying with the Clippers or leaving for Atlanta if the Clips didn't get Doc and if Dwight Howard went to the Hawks.

Rockets currently the favorites to get Dwight Howard with the team even using The Dream to help persuade Howard in signing with them. Hawks chances to get him dropped after Chris Paul signed a new deal with the Clippers while the Mavs are the other big team in the hunt.

The New York Knicks are close to finalizing a trade for power forward Andrea Bargnani that would send Steve Novak and Marcus Camby to the Toronto Raptors, a league source confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com.
Knicks also are expected to give up a 2016 1st round pick and do a sign-and-trade on another player as part of the deal (Earl Barron or Quentin Richardson).

I've never been more on board with anything.

I don't want Asik. I fear that he could lead to some wins. They have to trade Thaddeus Young. He's a solid player who constantly hustles.

I would love Metta World Peace or Shawn Marion. Both expiring contracts, both old and aren't good.

Sacramento Kings offer Iggy a contract, then pull it off the table (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1692665-andre-iguodala-sounds-off-on-twitter-when-kings-reportedly-pull-offer). Stay classy Sac.

What happened between Andre Iguodala and the Sacramento Kings can only be described as awkward.

Sam Amick of USA Today reported that the Kings offered Iggy a four-year contract worth $52 million. Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski put the deal at $56 million.

Turns out the amount really doesn't matter, because Amick then reported that they pulled it.

Iggy responded accordingly, taking to Twitter to show his dismay.

WOW!!!!
— Andre Iguodala (@andre) July 3, 2013

Really?? Ok... MOTIVATION!!!!!!
— Andre Iguodala (@andre) July 3, 2013

Initially, no one really knew what to make of his mysterious tweets. They weren't news. Enigmatic anecdotes are more like it.

Then this happened, and it all made sense.

Per Amick, the Kings had made Iguodala their top free-agency target and weren't happy that he was taking so long to decide whether or not he was going to accept their offer:

With the team now under new ownership and being run by new general manager and former Denver Nuggets executive Pete D'Alessandro, Iguodala - who was traded to the Nuggets last season after spending his first eight seasons in Philadelphia - became their top target after the New Orleans Pelicans came hard for Kings restricted free agent Tyreke Evans.

But the Kings wanted an answer from Iguodala, who was still considering returning to Denver while also being pursued by the likes of Detroit and others. When Iguodala wasn't prepared to give the answer quick enough for the Kings' liking, they made the calculated decision to go a different direction. What direction that is however, wasn't immediately clear.

Someone might want to explain to Sacramento's new ownership how free agency works in the NBA. They also may want to make sure the Maloofs still aren't pulling any strings behind the scenes, as all this wreaks of the incompetency they became notorious for.

Free agents must make decisions, and they don't always make them right away. That's their right; that's how this entire process works.

Also, Iggy couldn't have officially signed anything until July 10, when the league's moratorium period was officially lifted. I'm not sure what Sacramento's rush was.

The Kings are attempting to distance themselves from a poor reputation and must remember their past continues to resonate with players around the league. The Maloof brothers dragged their name through the mud, nearly drowning it . You can't blame Iggy for weighing his options, especially when the other consists of him returning to the team that finished third in the Western Conference last season.

Never mind reinventing the organization now, the Kings have dug themselves into an even deeper hole that one free-agency signing isn't going to change. Public perception can be everything and, right now, the Kings continue to come across as self-destructive.

Once the shock of having his offer yanked from his hands wears off, I'm sure Iggy will understand that. He'll see that Sacramento did him a favor. A big one.

If him exercising his right as a free agent was enough to turn the franchise against him, then the Kings aren't a team he wants to play for anyway.

Nobody cares that Dwight left, honestly. Anyone who does didnt want the guy turn the ball over and let the ball flail from his arms every time he was fouled.

As far as i'm concerned, the Lakers are in a better position now that they would be WITH him.

Next year they'll make the playoffs, but barring a Cinderella run like the Celts made a few years ago, they wont be making the finals.

After that, only ONE player under contract, some big free agents and restricted free agents, and a deep draft class.

The NBA has set next season's salary cap at $58.7 million, paving the way for contracts to be signed starting Wednesday.

The tax level is $71.7 million, with harsher penalties starting this season for teams that exceed it. Teams formerly paid $1 for every $1 they were over, but the penalties now start at $1.50 for teams up to $4.9 million over, with increases from there.

6 teams ended up paying the tax penalty for last season with the Lakers $30 million being the most.
Team - Tax Payment
Lakers - $29,259,739
Heat - $13,346,242
Nets - $12,883,647
Knicks - $9,962,406
Bulls - $3,932,336
Celtics - $1,181,640

To put it into perspective how huge the changes are going to be for the next billing, the Nets paid $13 million this year while next year their bill currently is around $75 million.

Landry Jones.

Kyle Lowry is actually a great deal. Elite defensive PG that can score 15, hand out 6 dimes and 4 rebounds? he fills it up and at lik 6 million a year is great.

He is the only good move Toronto has made in 10 years.

Luis Scola says the Suns and Pacers are almost done with a trade involving him going to Indy. Since neither team confirmed nor denied what he said, its only being rumored what the deal might include.

But sources with knowledge of the talks told ESPN.com that one trade scenario on the table would send swingman Gerald Green and future draft considerations to Phoenix in exchange for Scola, whose arrival in Indiana would only strengthen a front line headlined by center Roy Hibbert and the recently re-signed David West.
