I'm really curious as to who you think the champions should be in the current professional wrestling landscape. Maybe not the champions right now, as in all the titles would switch hands on RAW, Impact Wrestling or on ROH TV within the next week, but who would ideally be making the strides towards the championship and who would you switch each championship to (if anyone at all).
Here is my list:
WWE:
WWE Champion: Rob Van Dam
-I think putting the WWE Title on RVD at Money in the Bank would be a great way to make him "not just another guy." A lot of people would disagree with my choice, but I think RVD could be quite profitable in the short-term and generate some interest as a guy who has changed the entire scene on his first night back with the company. He wouldn't need a long run with the title, but by spending a few months as WWE Champion, I think RVD's future programs would carry a lot more gravity.
World Heavyweight Champion: Daniel Bryan
-I think Dolph Ziggler should have a longer chase to the World Heavyweight Title. If he's rewarded right away, I could see the casual fan losing a bit of interest in him. Daniel Bryan is over like Rover right now (and that's pretty over), but I think that his eventual WWE Title victory could be a great moment down the track. Bryan beating Alberto Del Rio for the World Title would bring attention to that title it hasn't had in quite a while.
Intercontinental Champion: CM Punk
-Would love to see Punk's problems with Heyman Enterprises lead to him getting in Curtis Axel's shit and taking the Intercontinental Title off Heyman's new pet project. Would it be a step down for Punk? Probably, but I think that could be the point. Punk could be a guy who reminds everyone what being IC Champion used to mean. The heel that dethrones Punk is going to get a huge boost from it, too. Punk vs. Lesnar for the IC Title would be one of the biggest matches for the title ever, too. Punk could enter the 2014 Royal Rumble as Intercontinental Champion, win the whole thing, and take the title into the main event of WrestleMania with him, conceivably. I'm not saying that WWE should necessarily go that route (Brock Lesnar costing Punk the IC Title back to Curtis Axel could be a good enough rub for the belt), but it's a possibility.
United States Champion: Dean Ambrose/Seth Rollins/Roman Reigns
-I'd like to see the US Championship traded a few times between the members of The Shield. With The Wyatt Family coming in, it's questionable as to whether or not the WWE needs two dominating factions floating around. Egos finally getting in the way of The Shield succeeding as a group could lead to one of the most intriguing stories surrounding the US Title in a long time.
WWE Tag Team Champions: The Wyatt Family
-I'd switch the titles to The Usos to lend them some credibility, but I can't see The Wyatt Family not capturing the championship soon after their debut. As a monster team that dominates all that is put in front of them, I could see Luke Harper and Erick Rowan having a pretty long run with the titles quite successfully.
Divas Championship: Kharma
-Bring her back and put the title on her. She could then thrown down the butterfly belt and declare herself "WWE Women's Champion." Would love to see her taking on all-comers.
TNA:
World Heavyweight Champion: Kurt Angle
-He's the best wrestler in the world and I think TNA should treat him as such. I think TNA needs to go back to simpler roots, and having Angle as a wrestling machine defending the title against every man and his dog is a pretty simple way to get there. Chris Sabin can win the World Title from Bully Ray at Destination X when Ken Anderson turns on Aces & Eights. At some point, a stipulation is added that if Bully Ray loses, Aces & Eights are out of TNA. I like DOC, but pretty much everyone else in Aces & Eights is expendable, could move into backstage roles or needs more time to polish up. Anderson goes into business for himself, leading to a program with Bully Ray away from the title, and Sabin goes on to fight Kurt Angle, valiantly, but loses the title to him.
Television Champion: Retire it with Abyss
-There could one day be a place for the TV Title in TNA again, but it doesn't really mean much. Guys are either aiming for the World Title, the X-Division Title or Tag Team Titles. Leave it at that.
X-Division Champion: Jeff Hardy
-Hardy is one of TNA's biggest attractions, and I'd love to see him mix it up in the X-Division scene. After Sabin cashes in the X-Division Title for a shot at the World Title, Jeff Hardy can meet Kenny King in the finals of a tournament to crown a new champion. Hardy wins the title there, but King keeps pursuing him and eventually defeats him to become the new champion down the track.
World Tag Team Champions: The Greatest Team Ever (Austin Aries & Bobby Roode)
-Not really digging the James Storm/Gunner combo. I think they were the right call to take the titles at Slammiversary, but I don't think they should be long-term champs. Reunite The Greatest Team Ever and let them have a bit of success together as the top tag team in TNA. Throw some real teams at them, throw some super-teams at them (AJ Styles & Samoa Joe having a run together might be nice), but let them emphasise the "World" in "World Tag Team Champions."
Knockout Championship: Mickie James
-I kind of dig heel Mickie James at the moment, and I think her reign has got some legs to it. TNA needs to do some rebuilding in their Women's Division, but Mickie James spending some time with the title feuding with the likes of Gail Kim and Taryn Terrell is a good start.
ROH:
World Champion: Shelton Benjamin
-As much as I love Brian Kendrick and Paul London, who have both been confirmed for the ROH World Title tournament, I think Shelton Benjamin should be entered and win the whole thing. He's a face that has had some big exposure on WWE TV, and despite never rising to the main event there, he was never really jobbed out and was a solid mid-carder. Giving him the chance to wrestle at the top in ROH could be a great way to utilise his talents.
Television Champion: Kevin Steen
-Really could be anyone, but I just went with Kevin Steen because him steam-rolling some guys for a few weeks could be fun. Mike Bennett has the Superstar look, Jay Lethal has the charisma, Matt Taven might be OK, but my personal choice is Steen...just because. I also like the idea of the TV Champion not being your usual aesthetically sleek Superstar. Steve Corino leading SCUM to try and take the title off him could be a good mid-card storyline for a while.
World Tag Team Champions: The American Wolves
-Rumors have been circulating that these two might be due for a call-up to the WWE soon, but until then, I wouldn't mind seeing these two get a solid run with the championship. As singles guys, they never really captured the imagination of people, but as a tag team, all they would have to do is wrestle well. I would love it if ROH could keep Paul London & Brian Kendrick around for a tag team feud with these guys. reDRagon, or whatever they are called, would be in the title picture, as well.
