I found that the Kassius Ohno thread was starting to touch on some interesting stuff about the training the wrestlers are doing now up until it became a thread about James Steele's undying love for HHH.

So in this thread let's talk about the strength and conditioning training these guys are trying to do now, and the changes we are seeing in the brand of athlete coming up.

I do have a fixation for this type of stuff, I love to do strength and conditioning myself so I do have a strange interest into seeing what these guys are doing. One guy who is an ABSOLUTE fucking BEAST is John Cena.... minus some of the stuff WWE has shown on live tv about his training methods, I've seen some videos of his. He squats ass to grass about 600 pounds, cleans about 315... that's not even getting into his freakish upper body strength.

The difference these days to back in the day, is these guys are not just body building anymore. They are training like athletes. They are doing olympic style lifting, we even see a guy like HHH who in his old training montages spent most of his time on the leg press (aka a gigantic fucking waste of time unless you want pure aesthetic muscle) doing core and stability training.

IMO this is only good for wrestling. The type of training going on now is going to lead to a more explosive, fast twitch fiber engaging athlete... which means harder hitting, faster pace matches, which IMO with the likes of D Bry, Caesaro etc. we are already seeing. Same goes for Big E. Langston, I saw a video of him deadlifting like 600 pounds about 10 times with ease.

That type of proper lifting, with good form, with athletic purposes, as opposed to the same old upper body, body building that plagued these guys for years is going to prevent injuries and keep these guys going for year and bring legitimacy to the sport. I think we'll see less guys fizzle out and more guys stick around. Way less back injuries and so forth.

This is why when it comes to a Kassius Ohno I get pissed off They are doing proper athletic training now which will only help him and his ring work and he chooses to skip on gym sessions.

Anyways, just for some reference points and to open discussion, here is Big E. Langston being a monster.

Also I fucking love Cesaro's one armed snatches. A super cool visual, and he is also a beast in the gym, especially for such a tall guy.

It is absolutely fucking ridiculous. His Oly lifts aren't perfect but considering he's pretty new at them, and throws aroudn a shit load of weight like it's nothing.

HHH's trainer, Joe DeFranco, is the man. I trained with him a couple times a few years ago and it totally changed how I viewed working out/training. He's the consultant for the new performance center and has all of the people down there going through his CPPS certification.
