Do you even know who KENTA is?
He isn't even the best crusierweight in Japan in my book. Minoru Tanaka and Taka Michinoku still have him licked in my opinion.
Kazara
05-14-2004, 08:28 PM
TAKA can still be good, and Minoru is excellent, But I would still Rate KENTA as the highest, then American Dragon, Followed by Heat.

What ever happened to Liger is he still working?
He works the heavyweight division mostly now.
Kazara

Yeah, Liger is Usually involved in Tag Matches now, but I think he currently holds the GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion.

Ultimo Dragon sucks beyond belief now. Check out his match with Great Sasuke in 2003 and Tell me it was good.
I swear when I first saw him, I thought KENTA was never gonna cut the mustard. I was quite wrong on that one.

He DID slack off. Compare his Asai DDT in his debut to his other ones before his vacation.

Well he was held back in WWE but I disagree still.

Nothing. :-P
Nah, Mysterio is still good, but he's not the best Crusierweight in the WWE right now.
Fans are always the last ones to admit when their favorites are past their prime.
Very true. However, I've been saying Flair was past it since 1994 and I'm still a fan of his.
I also think Rey Misterio is still the best crusierweight in WWE. Just because he is different now, that don't mean he isn't as good.

Who is the best Crusierweight in wwe at the mo?
Kazara

Got to say Tajiri or Paul London. Mysterio would be number 3. The WWE has an EXCELLENT crusierweight division. They just don't know how to use it.
Worst: Billy Kidman.
Dude you think Kidman is the worst they have? Their division must be awesome if that's the case.
London isn't better that Mysterio.

Maybe not 96' Mysterio, but view these matches.

Ultimo WAS the best. He's well past his prime at this time though. Best is prolly London or Mysterio. Both of em are great, and if the wwe stops ****ing around with the CW division, we might get to see em more in action.
You got any movies of Kenta in action? Never heard of him...

Indeed, Tajiri DOES kick ass.

I've got news for you:
Tajiri is a jobber. He was great in ECW (Well actually, anything that wasn't WWE programming). But I don't understand your reasoning that he comes to the WWE, becomes a jobber, and all the sudden he's the best cruisereight.
Rey Mysterio.

I'd say Mysterio is the best cruiserweight in the WWE right now. Sure he's lost a bit of that innovative spunk he once had in WCW but he's still fantastic. But I do agree that Billy Kidman is currently the worst cruiserweight in the WWE right now.
What Would Kevin Do?

Pound for pound, TAKA is great... His Spaceman Plancha owns all.
KENTA is good, although I can't stand his damn knee attack :)
For overall best, I"m going to have to go with Jushin "Thunder" Lyger, who BTW does a better Shooting star press than Kidman.
Rey Mysterio has nothing on Jushin Lyger, Paul London, Ultimo Dragon, Minoru Tanaka, or The Amazing Red.

Get off the drugs kid. Mysterio reinvented that whole division and two guys on that list wouldn't even be here today without his influence. Again, just because he is different, that doesn't mean he isn't good. I would love to see how all the others would cope if they went to WWE and were told to cut back on the flashy dangerous moves. Oh wait, we saw what happened with Ultimo and London.
Kazara
05-15-2004, 06:54 AM
I only see one on that list. Paul's style is NOT Mysterio's. And Red is a bitter jackass who hates Mysterio for stealing "His" Style.
Oh, and it IS spelled a different way. Hell I didn't even MAKE this Avatar.
London was still influenced by Misterio. He admitted it ages ago. Kinda hard not be influenced by the guy who put crusierweight wresting on the map.

No... Mysterio can't really mat wrestle that great... WWE wise, noble is a far better wrestler... Globally, Mysterio can't hold a candle up to Lyger.
Since when did mat wrestling define you as whether you are a great wrestler or not?

Wrestling is NOT limited to Mat-Wrestling, although it helps. Wrestling is the physchology, pace, selling, and the ability to tell a story in a match.

There's no doubt that Mysterio influenced several modern crusierweights, maybe I went too far saying that Paul London was better, but c'mon you can't say that Rey Mysterio had more of an influence than Jushin Lyger.

Easy. Liger and Pillman first brought it to a national audience but nobody gave a toss about it for years. It wasn't until Rey Misterio showed up in ECW and then WCW that people stood up and took note. Disagree all you want but nobody cared about crusierweights until he showed up because he was so different from anything they had ever seen before, including Liger. Lucha Libre was around years before Liger was even born so you can't call him the trend setter in the States anyway.
EVERYONE got into crusierweight wrestling after seeing Misterio vs. Malenko in WCW. It brought new fans to the table and it spawned the over crowded mess of 170lbs wrestlers that you see crowding the indies now. They all got into wrestling because of what they saw on Nitro and Rey Misterio was the pioneer of that.
For the record, I'm not even his biggest fan. Misterio wouldn't make my top 5 favourite crusierweights of all time but I have to give credit where it's due.

Mat wrestling adds depth. Mysterio is a great high flyer, but once you take the spots away from him, he's not a very deep wrestler... He's entertaining, but if he couldn't move like he does, he'd pretty much be worthless.
Liger on the other hand, you could take away his high flying moves, and he would still be an extremely solid worker who would still be entertaining.
Ultimately, this goes back to the thread where it was argued that it is basically impossible to judge and rate matches and wrestlers due to opinion. In my opinion, a wrestler who can actually mat wrestle, or wrestle other styles is going to be better than a wrestler who is using one general style... In Sports Entertainment type companies, this may not be as big of an issue, but if you watch puroresu, a diverse style is an excellent thing to have. Lyger has diversity, Noble has diversity, Mysterio is Mysterio, that's probably never going to change.

Mysterio used to have a really good mat game, around 96 and 97. Aside from all the flashy spots, he'd throw in some pretty nice submissions. Sure, you'd never mistake him for Dean Malenko, but in my book, back then Rey was IMO the best cruiser in the world, bar none (he's still one of my favorites)
Now, although he's still one of the top 3 or 4 best cruisers in the WWE, he's slowed down quite a bit after all those nagging knee injuries. I still mark out for him, but he's not at the level he used to be.
Anyways, I honestly can't say who's the top of the heap today. Maybe Tajiri, or Chavo Jr.
I'm still a big Kidman fan, but he doesn't really stand out. Sure, he's got a sloppy SSP, but his overall work is pretty good, especially in a tag team. I haven't seen much of TAKA since he left WWE, so I can't really judge. And there's tons of other great guys I could go on about, but I don't particularly feel like it.

Bah God, you two have absolutely no idea how long I've been waiting for somebody to say that. Both Kidman and Noble have annoyed the hell out of me from the 1st day they appeared on my tv. The only reason Kidman got a push on WCW was because he was a complete bitch backstage, I guess he heard that worked well in other places ;) . Noble has no personality whatsoever, so they had to do the time honored tradition of sticking him with Nidia. (Half dressed chick + generic guy drawing no heat = instant pop baby!) I'm sorry, but I don't care how many "picture perfect armdrags" Noble can do, if you can't make me care about those 2 people in that ring, get off my TV. [/rant]
As for cruiserweights I DO give a crap about, I've been a big, big fan of Tajiri ever since his ECW days, & I actually marked out when I found out WWE had signed him :D . Hurricane is another who can really get me into a match, he's one of the most underappreciated workers I can think of. I'd really like to see Devon Storm (Crowbar in WCW) in WWE, he was one of the main reasons I kept tuning in to WCW during the "Dark Russo Days" :p

My nightmare card:
Kidman vs Jaime Noble - 60 minute iron man match
Pat Patterson vs Rikishi - Bra & Panties
Torrie vs Dawn Marie - 1st one to do a Tiger Driver wins (this one'll be a while)
Chris Jericho vs RVD - Glass Ceiling Match (winner gets the honor of being buried by HHH, loser gets buried by 'Taker's wife)
HHH vs Sgt. Slaughter - Biggest Nose vs Biggest Chin!
