DISCUSSION - Should Shelton Benjamin win the Battle Royale on RAW?
Advantages
-Benjamin re-establishes his credibility as an IMPACT superstar. If Benjamin wins the battle royale, then any doubts of his victories of Triple H becomes erased. Benjamin could literally become 'over' amongst the marks' eyes.
-A Benjamin/Benoit feud would be excellent from a wrestling standpoint. The matches itself should get Benjamin over....even if he loses. After Benjamin's feud with Benoit, he should be an established solid upper-card wrestler.
-A Benjamin/Benoit feud could really emphasize the WRESTLING aspect for main-events (and this could help the marks' appreciate the 'wrestling' aspect of main-events a helluva lot more).
Disadvantages
-A Benoit/Benjamin title match may not (and probably wouldn't) 'draw' very well since Benjamin is not perceived to be a main-eventer (is it a 'guarantee' that the fans' perception would change even if Benjamin won the battle royale?).
-Chris Benoit needs to defeat more 'credible' opponents. Granted he's defeated Shawn Michaels and Triple H of late (cleanly), but would the World title somehow be 'devalued' if Benoit fought Benjamin? Could this be the equivalent of when Big Show fought Bossman in 99' (in defense of his world title).
Right now on Smackdown, we are seeing Eddie Guerrero take on a 'green' Bradshaw (and PPv buyrates are expected to be low). Is this a similar comparison to a potential Benoit/Benjamin feud?

Nah, Give him the Intercontinental title, first.

No, Shelton shouldn't win the Battle Royal. He is nowhere near ready for a title shot. At least one at a PPV, he could handle jobbing for one on RAW or something. Honestly, Shelton is a great wrestler, but he is in dire need of some character development.

I'm not suggesting that Benjamin should win the World title (before he wins the IC title).
Benjamin would obviously 'job' to Benoit in his match(es). However the main-event 'rub' would establish credibility in the fans' eyes (and also erase any doubts of his victories over Triple H being a fluke).
Once he's done this, then he can go for the IC title and get a solid reign.

Sure, when Randy Orton is done wearing it around. :D
I see no point in pushing Shelton Benjamin to the moon right now, it'll only kill his career in the long-run because he'll get stale in the main event scene quickly with his current lack of personality, plus Benoit already has a hard enough time with charisma. If the fans were only interested in the wrestling, then I'd say go for it, but since strong promos are essential for a main event title feud, then I think this needs to be avoided until Shelton gets more experience in the midcard and develops more character.
Does Shelton Benjamin have main event potential? Absolutely, he's one of the best technical wrestlers WWE has right now, so I really want to see his career be pushed at a steady pace.

I say no to Benjamin winning, because I want to be able to beleive that the person who wins the BR will be able to win the title.
Unless it's HHH.

You could get Shelton over just by having him be one of the last few wrestlers in the Battle Royal; additionally, have him score a few key eliminations like Triple H and/or Batista.
Shelton needs some more time to develop. He and Benoit wouldn't draw. And with Y2J done with Christian, now would be a perfec time to have him in the title match at Bad Blood, probably co-main eventing with yet another in the seemingly endless series of HBK/HHH matches.

It's far to early to push Shelton to the main event, if his push continues, then go for it at the end of the year, or failing that, after WM21.

He shouldn't win, not because he doesn't deserve it, but simply because he hasn't been pushed enough yet to come off as a credible winner. Let him get the IC Title first (Randy Orton needs a main event push anyway) and then we can talk about title shots.

No, Shelton should not win the Battle Royale. Benoit needs a contender who's already over as a legit threat to the title, and can get the crowd going behind him. I think by now everyone's conceded to the fact that he's dropping the title back to Triple H at Summerslam, but before he does that, he needs one last big win to cement himself as a main eventer. Beating the guy who rolled up Triple H one time isn't going to help. That'll make Benjamin look weak because he can't really get it done in the main events, and it'll make the Champion look weak because he has trouble putting away a rookie. I have no doubt that Benoit vs Benjamin would lead to some damn good matches, but booking-wise it's not really the sort of thing you want to base a World Championship feud around.
Give Benjamin a feud with Orton and have him go over as the new I-C Champion for a few months, then we'll see if people want to see him in the main events.

The Kid's not ready. I agree with everyone else.....give the boy a run as the I.C. champion and see what happens there. I think he does have what it takes to be a champion one day. He should work on his mic skills some and get a new gimmick as well.

Shelton is a great wrestler but as said before in earlier post(s) he does not yet have the character development to be pushed into a titleship fight.
Shelton as well I Believe might be still too young in the WWE to win the championship, I would say pit him up against Orton first for the intercontinal championship and then push him from there.
And even though Benoit and Sheldon are two great wrestlers I wouldent really be drawn to the match, Sheldon is too bland and plain to watch in the ring and whenever he is involved I usually go to the washroom or do something more ammusing.
