Lol I remember being terrified of Kamala.
I also never used to get dressed in front of the t.v because I thought the people on t.v could see me naked.

i had a dream in 98 where kane chased me through the halls of my middle school trying to kill me

A little scared that Razor Ramon could stare me to death while he cut those backstage promos, and he'd stare at the screen and they do that slow pan into his face.
Skinner had me convinced he was legit too.

Not scared of one per say, but I was always afraid to go to a show as a kid because I thought if I booed one of them, they'd beat me or my dad up haha

I was pretty scared of Kane, which is funny cuz I was like 11 or 12 in his height of being scary in '98/'99
The Undertaker. And no one comes close. The character, and the performance is just so fantastical, that it transcends the 'suspension of reality' and just engrosses you. You start believing it.
The funeral march, the graveyard promos, the mind games, rising up from the dead?
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/KuslLsd1q9E" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
And even when i'd smartened up to the theatricality of it all, the entire production during the Ministry days frightened me. That goatee, the eyes rolling back, the sacrifices, the latin mumbo-jumbo?
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/XEOR3ppoY0E" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
And of course, this promo:
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/NX4XcTix6vQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I remember listening to Isaac Yankem's debut thru a scrambled ppv feed and the announcers put him over frighteningly.
Then I saw him on RAW or Prime Time the next night and was all 'so not rad'.
I liked Villains better, so just like I was #TeamSkeletor I was very #TeamPapaShango and #TeamUndertaker and #TeamJakeTheSnake growing up.

Taz when he was in ecw.
He was such a hard mother fucker in his interviews and stuff, that I always thought that if I ever had the chance to meet him, I'd be too intimidated.
Then he came to Wwe and he was a sweetheart.

Papa Shango, The Undertaker, Daniel Bryan when he does the Diving Headbutt.

The Undertaker during his bodybag phase. Used to thought he actually killed wrestlers as a kid since those guys would never show up again.

Kamala as well. But not like 90's Kamala. Only 80's Kamala when his face paint was all fucked up.

80's Kamala was scary, especially to a 5 year old like myself. Started watching around 87 and I remember thinking Kamala was going to eat the other wrestlers.

No joke, I stopped watching rasslin for a few years because I got scared by Papa Shango. Was traumatized when he made Ultimate Warrior vomit.

Kamala and Papa Shango scared me as well...
the one who scared me the MOST growing up was Jake Roberts. Not by his looks, but by the way he talked and acted, plus using the snake as the exclamation point.
You may consider him creepy instead of scary, but segments like this scared me.

The Undertaker. I used to have nightmares of him putting me in a body bag.
Phil Collins when he dressed like a human condom and got beat up by Ultimate Warrior in Bobcat Goldthwait's mind. I was scared because Collins looked like he would fondle Warrior, which thankfully did not happen on camera.

Jake the Snake locking Warrior in that room of snakes was the moment i finally admitted to myself that wrestling was probably fake. Sad day.

That Taker promo from the casket after the Yokozuna match and him rising out of the top of the screen scared the shit out of me.

My uncle (who got me into wrestling) used to watch a whole lot of Abdullah the Butcher matches on tape and I remember I used to have to go into the other room when he was watching them.
Nark Order

I remember specifically him having like 4 or 5 different tapes that he watched on a regular basis and I think all of them had at least one Abdullah match on them. Abdullah the Butcher vs Bruiser Brody matches were always the worst/most scary. Had a nightmare once about one of the matches on the tape and I still remember it.
I was scared that the 1-2-3 Kid was gonna grow up and have major problems with drink & drugs (and self-filmed pornos).
Wait. I think I got the wrong end of the stick.

I imagine if I were to have watched Ox Baker as a child I'd have pissed my pants. He scares me at age 31.

Original Mankind, mandible claw and all with his voice and mental music. That scared the living shit out of me in my teens. I remember jobbers "puking" white stuff out of their mouths with that fucking weird theme playing.
Before that, not so much but I remember fearing for the well being of announcers or non wrestlers on the programs who spoke poorly of wrestlers or "crossed them" during interview sessions. I remember thinking "This guy's gotta hide somewhere."

When I was going into the third grade Ric Flair signed on with WWE/F. At this point all I knew was WWE/F. I was a total Hulkamaniac. Seeing Ric Flair as "The Real World's Champion" (or whatever moniker he used) sent a weird chill up my spine. The idea of the unknown (how another wrestler was a world champion) was unsettling. It wasn't really fear of Flair, but fear of the unknown. As this was 20+ years ago and there was a total iron curtain the fans couldn't see behind, my illogical fear seemed rational.

Lord Humongous. I think it was more the mask than the wrestler.
I was never scared of the Undertaker because I immediately recognized him as the Master of Pain in USWA and remembered how Jerry Lawler beat him up repeatedly.

I imagine The (Original) Sheik and Abdullah The Butcher scared a lot of young people in their day.
