I finally broke down and downloaded an SNES emulator (snes9x) and I think I've got pretty much all the staples of the console I care about (I'm never going to want Mario Kart).

I've also picked up a couple of nostalgic games that weren't all that big TMK but I owned them so whatever (Actraiser, for example) and I picked up Earthbound, which may or may not count as a "staple" due to its cult status.

But I'm wondering what else is out there. Good games beyond the ones everyone always talks about. Maybe they're unpolished, or maybe they were just too niche.

Anyone got any such titles?

Aladdin is the first one to come to mind.

And Lion King I guess. Assuming you've got paper Mario/Mario RPG etc since they're pretty heavily lauded. I'd say Sensible Soccer if you weren't from a backwards country across the waters.

Rock n Roll Racing and Unirally spring to mind, although I wasn't as big a fan as the latter as some people.

It's a shame there was no SNES Fit so you could potentially start doing something about that excess mass you're carrying.

Zombies Ate My Neighbours
Vortex
Cannon Fodder
Aladdin
Lion King
Stunt Race FX
Battletoads in Battlemaniacs
Parodius
The Mask
Harleys Humongous Adventure
The Adventures of Dr Franken

Everyone hates Bubsy but I thought he was ok. Sunset Riders was amazing in the Arcade but there is a SNES version I didn't play. If it's anything like the arcade version, I'd say go for it.

Turtles in Time is also good, along with Tiny Toons: Buster Busts Loose if you don't mind games based on cartoons.

Pretty snazzy music from Dr Franken.

Glad to see Rock 'n Roll Racing mentioned. :y:

I'd say Secret of Evermore. It's one of my favorite SNES games. I don't believe that it's widely regarded, as it gets overshadowed by the strong lineup of SNES RPG games.

I had rented it at some point during the SNES era, and was later lucky to pick up a used copy in the "discount bin" at Electronics Boutique in 1998 or 99.

One thing though most Super Punch Out Roms don't have the Special circut in it.
