Do you understand Japanese?
About as much as I do Spanish (not very much), but I can absorb the story by finding background information and because of what they do in the ring. It did get a little "Let's kick out of each other's finishers a lot" towards the end, but even the WWE is guilty of that at times when it comes to their biggest matches.

Maybe Del Rio can face Mysterio. I don't think that's ever been done.
I could actually see them doing this match, since Del Rio and Mysterio are two guys that they'd want to put on the card. They could make it "Mask vs. Riches," and have the two guys put something on the line against each other.
A card I did up the other day had Mysterio & Big Show challenging The Real Americans for the WWE Tag Team Championship. Alberto Del Rio was then part of the "largest Money in the Bank Ladder Match" ever, and actually seemed like a fairly good choice to win it given the other names surrounding him.

Another Tanahashi vs. Okada match. I'm not sure if I'm getting them in sequence, but this seems right. Loving it so far, more so than the other match. Love the cockiness of Okada and the lengths he will go through to become IWGP Heavyweight Champion (a title that was once held by Brock Lesnar).

I have to admit, I'm not too fond of the idea. I personally wasn't down for a Daniel Bryan vs. Bray Wyatt feud in the first place, but I think it should have ended with Bryan managed to get a few wins over The Family, even if he never pinned or submitted Wyatt.

I'm fine with it, but if I were the booker.... I would have had Kane actually be the one to be brainwashed by the Wyatts. Kane's current suit-wearing heel turn has done absolutely nothing for him....
Wyatts could then get involved with Bryan. Have Bryan be the one trying to save his friend from the clutches of Bray Wyatt.
.... But since that didn't happen, I am in fact looking forward to seeing what WILL actually happen.

Truthfully, I'm surprised in the number of years it has been on and the number of iterations it has spawned that Paul has never been a weasly scumbag on some episode of Law & Order.

Given his on-again/off-again relationship with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, I really wouldn't mind it if the main event of WrestleMania XXX was Randy Orton defending the WWE World Heavyweight Title against 2014 Royal Rumble Winner, CM Punk. Heyman has made it clear that he's not back for revenge against Punk, a nice way of closing the book there, but that could be easily remedied if Orton chooses to go to Heyman for advice on how to best get into Punk's head. Orton isn't bad on the mic (sometimes not the most exciting promo in the world, but far from bad), but having Heyman in there would help tremendously. Heyman would provide that extra insurance policy that The Authority have seemingly taken away from The Viper.
Heyman could then also gloat about having the youngest WWE Champion and youngest World Heavyweight Champion in WWE history in his camp, and go on a bit of a power trip.

I don't usually put much stock into these rumors, but reportedly The Undertaker has requested Daniel Bryan to be his WrestleMania XXX opponent.
Emperor Smeat
01-02-2014, 09:43 PM
The Observer is pretty reliable as a source overall. Them, PWInsider, and F4W are usually the big ones for both reliability and as the sources for the majority of wrestling news.
It was an interesting move in taking the wrestler who for the last several months had gotten the loudest fan reaction in the building most nights and turning him. Even with that reaction, it was clear that John Cena was and will always be top babyface, and C.M. Punk was positioned as No. 2, as the headliner on the other brand. It’s not the same thing as when Steve Austin turned heel in 2001, since he brought a generation of fans to the table. The business has also changed to where it’s not like doing this is risking business as it often did when the wrong guy was turned at the wrong time.
It’s not even clear what the direction is, except apparently as a way to make Wyatt into a star capable of working with Cena at WrestleMania, as is the plan. Where Bryan fits into the show is unknown. It is said that Undertaker asked to work with him at Mania this year, and such a match would at least have the turn make sense.
But as of press time, the top four planned Mania matches are still Cena vs. Wyatt, Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar, HHH vs. C.M. Punk and Randy Orton vs. Batista.
WWE decided against offering a contract to the American Wolves after their tryout matches on NXT.
Eddie Edwards & Davey Richards won’t be back at the next NXT tapings and aren’t going to be offered a contract. The basic gist of the situation was that HHH didn’t want to sign them after the tryout camp because of their size. The feeling is they are loaded with guys who aren’t big who can go so the mentality is that they are looking for guys who can headline WrestleMania in five or ten years out of these camps. A lot of people went to bat for both of them, feeling they should get a deal and several pushed that they should go directly to the main roster. So HHH agreed to give them a several month tryout period. The problem with that at first is that WWE also didn’t want them on anyone else’s TV past the commitments they already had with ROH until the end of the year. But after the first taping, HHH made the decision not to sign them. There were stories out that it was because in the match with The Ascension, there was a spot where Richards landed on his head, which was an accident. Essentially, when they were working on their match, Viktor picked Richards up without dipping down first. So when they did the match at the tapings, Richards went up, and this time, Viktor dipped and the end result was Viktor lost him and he landed on his head. The ref told them to go home under orders from HHH in the back. They did, but not right away. I don’t know that had anything to do with the decision not to sign them because it would make little sense regarding Edwards who had nothing to do with the spot, and they were not there to be a team as WWE could have picked one and not the other.

Was very surprised when WWE let him go given his look and the fact he clearly had "something" as early back as his time on NXT with Bryan, just maybe got a bit stagnant when they did nothing with him. AJ Styles really is no longer with TNA. The two sides were discussing details as early as last week but couldn’t agree terms. AJ’s agent contacted Ring of Honor about his return to work out a deal between the two sides as its the one place Styles really wanted to go due to his past history with the promotion. While a contract hasn’t been signed Styles is working under an open contract, which means he can appear on other promotions shows but can’t work for anyone with television which includes TNA while working for ROH.
According to The Wrestling Observer, WWE has instated classes and seminars for developmental talents to make better financial decisions than past professional wrestlers, and to better prepare them for their post-wrestling lives.

Axel would actually benefit from another run in NXT, I think. Just like what Cesaro is currently doing. Axel & Rusev would make a pretty dastardly team.

Yoshi Tatsu and Curt Hawkins have both been gone from TV for a long time now. I kind of want Yoshi to come back and do something. He's a good talent, but he's just never had that "edge" that's needed to get out of being a Japanese jobber guy. They have Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara on the main roster, and Kalisto in developmental, but maybe they could bring him back with some sort of mask and have him play villain to them?
Hawkins is hard, because while he is a solid talent, he also just lacks that extra oomph to make him stand-out. As a singles act, I always liked the idea of him coming out decked out in a color scheme and claiming that "Hawkamania is runnin' wild!" It wouldn't be a main event shtick, but it could get him on television for a few weeks and maybe even start to get him over. There's always that tag team with Zack Ryder waiting in the shadows there.
Mr. Nerfect
01-04-2014, 11:26 AM
Yoshi Tatsu & Ricardo Rodriguez as a masked babyface tag team, for some reason, appeals to me. There are just so many face teams at the moment. They really need to get some heel stuff happening in that scene, because you've got guys like The Prime Time Players without anyone to really feud with.
Actually, before the Bad News Barrett stuff started, I actually really liked the idea of an Alberto Del Rio/Wade Barrett tag team. Think about it: Barrett showed up in the WWE to make money; Del Rio has a lot of money; both like beating people up and are very good at it -- the story essentially writes itself. They're the sort of super-team that would get a run with the Tag Team Titles, but I think that it would benefit both men (neither of whom has been a Tag Team Champion before) and I just see it clicking. Their arrogance and ruthlessness would come together quite nicely, I feel. Then, when they do suffer a string of losses, they can turn on each other and have a pretty captivating feud (where Barrett would probably be the more natural choice for a face).

I'm a huge fan of Wade Barrett, The guy oozes Heel from every pore and his beard is as majestic as her Majesty.
I'd like to see Barrett make more use of being British. I want to see an unadulterated version of Barrett where he speaks in a localized British Dialect using slang terms that most American viewers won't understand and have him portray an Anti-American Heel on TV... Then When WWE visits the UK, the crowds will be so high on him. The same way Bret played a Heel in America/Face in Canada Schtick... Afterall its been over seven years so by the rules of pro wrestling it would be seen as 'Never Been Done'
Aside from that the only change I'd make to Barrett before launching him back into the ring would be to have him adopt a Submission finisher..I've never been a fan of any finish he has used regularly, from that God awful Wasteland thing to the even worse elbow nonsense he used most recently..
I just think a submission would more fit his natural Character, Seeing him methodically target an opponents leg before snapping on a version of a Haas of Pain or even something like a Rings of Saturn or a London Dungeon would be ideal in my eyes.

That's a pity. The end of this year has been their best work since they ditched the 6 sided ring.
Still, barely a change in the ratings at all though.
That's actually good for TNA since they've trimmed a lot of "name" talent like Hogan, Bischoff, AJ, Devon, Mickie, Tara, anyone else I'm forgetting. It means that they can focus on developing new talent and the audience will still be there for them.

I thought the reason TNA split was NWA wanted more of a say in who was champion, who worked in TNA, etc.
Emperor Smeat
01-04-2014, 03:18 PM
The split was due to TNA wanting to do things their way and only used the NWA name to get instant credibility while the NWA was upset at TNA constantly breaking rules in regards to the titles.
In a bid to become a major wrestling promotion, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) split from the NWA in 2004. TNA was founded in 2002 as NWA: TNA and quickly came to hold exclusive booking rights to the two NWA world titles (NWA World Heavyweight Championship and NWA World Tag Team Championship). In 2004, TNA withdrew from the NWA, but cut a deal to keep the promotional rights to the NWA World Heavyweight and Tag Team championships. However, due to TNA not reporting to the NWA about title changes in accordance to NWA bylaws, TNA and NWA worked out a split and the titles were returned to the NWA on May 13, 2007 and TNA then created its own championship titles.
The main problem with the working agreement has been that TNA has not been following many of the rules that the NWA has regarding using their name and titles. The main one being that NWA requires to know in advance when a title is going to change hands. TNA has not been notifying them of this.
A split has been expected for awhile which is why TNA stopped using NWA in their name a long time ago (TNA was initially known as NWA-TNA).
The original partnership took place because Jerry Jarrett thought that having the NWA name tied with the TNA name would give the new promotion instant credibility for their weekly PPVs (TNA started as a PPV-exclusive promotion).

Apparently TNA's plan to cut back on the disastrous traveling costs and save money by going back to Universal ended up backfiring on them recently.
TNA will not be taping Impact Wrestling at Universal Studios Orlando anytime soon, PWInsider.com has confirmed.
According to multiple sources, TNA will not be returning to any of Universal's sound-stages as they were unable to secure any dates for 2014 due to the sound-stages being booked out for other productions already.
TNA returned to Universal to tape a number of Impact Wrestling episodes at the end of last year. At the time, TNA's press releases presented Universal as being the "hub" of their Impact 365 social media campaign and noted that the company would have a training center in that market as well.
The Impact episodes taped at Universal Studios will conclude with this Thursday's edition of Impact. TNA will tape several episodes later this month in Huntsville, Alabama, including a live "Genesis" themed episode before heading to Europe at the end of the month for their annual tour, where they will tape a number of episodes as well.
From there, it appears Impact will be back on the road, unless the company is able to find a new regular home for the tapings, because as of now, Universal Studios won't be home base

I'm watching Wrestle Kingdom 8 now. The opening eight-man tag has some interesting looking characters in it. I like how they don't use the traditional western formula for tag matches. Seems to be a lot more back-and-forth and the ending just saw an onslaught of what seemed like the more heelish team on some poor sap from the face team. He gets a good round of applause for taking the beating like a man, though.

My powers of deduction tell me that the guy Tenzan forced to submit was Yohei Komatsu, who doesn't even seem to have his own Wikipedia page. I imagine he's quite a new guy to the New Japan scene. After seeing him get some offence in against the legendary Tenzan, I actually wouldn't mind seeing the two have a match down the line. I'm not sure if that's how puroresu works, but that's just my feelings as a viewer. Put them against each other at a show and have Tenzan beat Kamatsu again, but seem more impressed with him. Maybe the two could become an eventual tag team? Better yet, maybe Kamatsu can gain respect for Tenzan, and vice versa, but when it comes time to find a tag team partner, Tenzan doesn't think that Kamatsu is ready and tells him "no." This leads to Kamatsu finding a tag team partner of his own to challenge Tenzan and a new partner. Could be a great star-making affair that wraps up a few people in it.

A little background on that move. In like 2009 or 2010 in PWG The Young Bucks biggest rival were the Cutler Brothers. The Cutlers finishing tag team move was... the tandem springboard tombstone piledriver. Nakamura was voted to be in the main event with Hiroshi Tanahashi, or so I believe. I'm looking forward to seeing their match now. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I like it how some guys are just "professional rasslers" in the world of puroresu. I don't know much of history, but Tanahashi reminds me of the likes of Eddie Guerrero and Shawn Michaels when it comes to ring presence. He seems to be this guy who is just really good at wrestling and has earned a legion of admirers for it and has a reasonably sized ego, but generally fights honorably. Don't have too much of a problem with that. Simple can be good.
Can't wait to see Nakamura, though, since I do love a good personality in professional wrestling. Especially one that I can't quite pinpoint why I love it so much (The Brian Kendrick, for example).

Massive History between Tanahashi and Nakamura. Would equate their rivalry to stonecold and the rock.
They were a successful tag team earlier in their careers. Since then they've both won the IWGP title multiple times. They've faced off too many times to count, but this is actually the fourth time that Tana vs Naka has headlined the Tokyo Dome if I'm not mistaken. Not sure if any other rivalry can say that.

This is exactly why I don't want all these old stars coming back for Wrestlemania! Any other PPV it'd be fine, but this is the big one. The whole world is watching etc. Guys like Hogan have had their moments, it's time to let guys like Antonio Cesaro, Wade Barrett and Dolph Ziggler show the world what they can do, instead of throwing them in 10-man tag matches every year, or mixed tag matches where the focus is on reality TV stars that nobody cares about.

http://www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/2014/0105/568943/jeff-jarrett-to-announce-new-promotion-with-toby-keith-this-week/
As noted earlier, negotiations between TNA and Toby Keith, who was the main person looking to purchase the company, apparently fell through. Jeff Jarrett was expected to be a part of the promotion in a key role if the sale happened, due to his relationship with Keith. Shortly after talks between Keith and TNA fell through, Jarrett announced that he was parting ways with TNA.
On tonight's episode of his podcast, which you can listen to at MLW.com, Konnan said that he spoke with Jarrett and that Jarrett will be making an announcement this week about a new project. He said that Jarrett told him that TNA is in really bad shape, and that he doesn't know and doesn't care if they see through the year. Konnan then pretty much stated that Jarrett would be starting a new promotion with Keith.
In perhaps an unrelated note, Jim Ross noted on his Twitter last Tuesday that he had a "great meeting with a major sports concern... Could be big...and fun!" A quick convo I just had with my brother.
Me: In other news- Mike Jones just got a pay check.
Bro: Who?
Me: lonelyvirgil.net
He's DLC in the new WWE game. Pretty sure this means he got paid for that.
Bro: He held as many titles as Jake Roberts with less than half the charisma. Have him open a gym and call it a day.
Me: Or do drugs, find god, do more drugs, find god, do drugs, move to europe, do drugs, move back to the states, do drugs, find god, do drugs, do yoga, beg fans for money, live with DDP, call it a day.

Was last years old school raw the one where Punk threw a bunch of ashes all over Undertaker???
yes it was
And improved nametags from what I remembered
I don't think it was.
Taker returned at Old School Raw and they had the Fatal Fourway to decide who would face him at Mania. The thing with the ashes was much closer to Mania/after Bearer died (which was in March).

I don't know how I feel about this idea... it might be a bad idea... the more I think about it, the less I like it, but here's something.
Who faces Taker at WM?
Put a match at Elimination Chamber to decide who gets the shot at The Dead Man. The catch is all they know is they're competing for a guaranteed spot at WrestleMania. The winner wins, they show off for a bit, the lights go down, and The Undertaker cuts a promo on the PA system... Or make that a fatal four way at The Rumble.

Love this idea. Makes the match with the Deadman worth more than a mere title. Something, at this point, I feel like a shot at the streak should be. It's more than just a WWE title shot, it's a shot at immortality.

Is it wrong that I wouldn't mind seeing this at Wrestlemania?
Real Americans vs. Big Show and Mysterio.
Real Americans win after Cesaro hits a UFO on Mysterio. Big Show is angry after the match, starts attacking Rey. Coulter enjoys it because "Fuck Mysterio, he's Mexican." Out comes Hulk Hogan, to the shock of everyone Hogan fights off Big Show for a bit, attempts a slam but can't do it. He staggers, favoring his back. Show readies the WMD. He rears back and... Cesaro stops it. He fires a series of European Uppercuts, staggering the big man. Then, from nowhere, Body Slams the Big Show. From there, maybe a Giant Swing of like 3 revolutions, enough that the crowd sees him do it.
From here Coulter and Swagger come back into the ring, wanting to celebrate with a fine American like Hogan. Hogan wants none of it. Swagger pushes Hogan, Cesaro nails Swagger. Cesaro sends Swagger over the top. Hogan does the same to Coulter. Then Cesaro and Hogan pose together to "Real American."
Lame as hell, but whatever.

Regarding Daniel Bryan turning and joining The Wyatt Family, word is that it's all Vince McMahon's doing. There is no clear picture as to where the storyline is going but it's all Vince's ideas.
Would explain a lot especially with several of the rumored Mania plans involving Bryan but at the same time could also backfire since the last time he had complete control over someone and/or a storyline was with Ryback.

Has anyone seen anything from TMDK (The Mighty Don't Kneel)? They're and Australian tag team that have apparently been impressing people. Would be interested to see them get a shot in developmental. Maybe just give them a hot valet. Perhaps they could sign Jessie McKay? She'd fit in with the current crop of NXT Divas, I feel.

Some of you need to calm down. Jake Roberts did not look AMAZING. He just no longer looked like complete shit. He has definitely made progress, and I am happy for him as a human, but he didn't do ANYTHING that should make you want to see him in a more prominent role on that Raw. I'm not even saying that he's not CAPABLE of doing something awesome, but there was NOTHING on Monday night that would make anyone think that. Come on.
