I'll post a list soon. Waiting for my Gary Numan CD for a listen to finalize my list.

There are some omissions from my top 10, as I have yet to buy the albums by Patricia Petibon, Chris Thile, Tomahawk, and Lady Maisery, which were released this year. Furthermore, the new Hilary Hahn album that was released in the States this year does not come out in the UK until March 2014.

These are the scores I gave to this year's albums in the "Rate the last album..." thread:

Tegan and Sara - Heartthrob 7/10

Frontier Ruckus - Eternity of Dimming 7.5/10

Rilo Kiley - Rkives 8/10
Caitlin Rose - The Stand-in 8/10

She & Him - Volume 3 6/10

Killswitch Engage - Disarm the Descent 7/10

Joy Kills Sorrow - Wide Awake (EP) 8.5/10

Kuniko Kato - Cantus 7.5/10
Palms - Palms 7/10

Phil Anselmo and the Illegals - Walk Through Exits Only 7.5/10

The Dillinger Escpe Plan - One of Us is the Killer 8/10

Norma Jean - Wrongdoers 8/10

The Civil Wars - The Civil Wars 7/10

NIN - Hesitation Marks 8/10
Neko Case - The worse things get, the harder I fight, the harder I fight, the more I love you 8.5/10

Jyotsna Srikanth - Call of Bangalore 8/10

Soulfly - Savages 7/10
Mitsuko Uchida - Schumann: Waldszenen/G Minor sonata/Gesange der Fruhe 8.5/10

Maria Kliegel/Nina Tichman - Georges Onslow: Cello Sonatas 7.5/10

Touche Amore - Is Survived by 7.5/10

Melt Banana - Fetch 8/10

I have had the chance to listen to the Tegan and Sara album more, as of late, and will raise its score to 8.5/10.

I recently bought Nails' Abandon all Life album, which I give 7.5/10.

Anyways, from those 22 albums released this year that I have bought, my top 10 are (in no specific order):

1. Neko Case - The worse things get, the harder I fight, the harder I fight, the more I love you
2. Tegan and Sara - Heartthrob
3. Mitsuko Uchida - Schumann: Waldszenen/G Minor sonata/Gesange der Fruhe
4. Jyotsna Srikanth - Call of Bangalore 8/10
5. Melt Banana - Fetch
6. NIN - Hesitation Marks
7. Caitlin Rose - The Stand-in
8. The Dillinger Escpe Plan - One of Us is the Killer
9. Norma Jean - Wrongdoers 8/10
10. Rilo Kiley - Rkives 8/10

They are not necessarily the best albums I bought this year, but the best from this year. I was hoping for more from the Kuniko Kato album, but maybe I just need to give it some more listens.

I bought an album of Saint-Saens' piano quintets, today, which was released this year. It might end up replacing one of my chosen 10 later this month.

I've decided that my music tastes are better than all of yours.

Will.I.Am's cd was tremendous, as was One Directions.

I concur actually, but I can see why it would make a lot of lists.

Still, no Flume in your top 25 Peter? :(

THM/Sleepwalking/Back To The Middle/Monomania is like the best 4 tracks in a row on any album this year

also prob slightly biased because I got to interview Bradford Cox this year

but the album was selected with the counsel of 3 of my other contributors and we all agreed on its high placement. still, was pretty surprised it ended up at 6. Was shocked at Iceage at 5 too, though it was one of my favorite records this year

Dunno if I even listened to 10 new albums this year. Really liked Reflektor though. I'll have to marathon a bunch of stuff before December ends, then I'll come backkkk

I finally got Patricia Petibon's Poulenc album, and it is pretty good. It would definitely go in my top 10 list, probably replacing the Rilo Kiley record.

Though I have only listened to these albums in the last couple of weeks or so, Clutch's "Earth Rocker" and These New Puritan's "Field of Reeds" are pretty good albums. They would have both definitely entered my top ten.

Most of my top 10 have been named...1 surprising omission from everyone else s list that would be on mine is Elvis Costello & The Roots "Wise Up Ghost".
