Dave Meltzer mentioned on his Wrestling Observer radio show that Spike may be considering bidding for SmackDown in 2014.

One reason that Spike is interested in making a bid, is they feel that Smackdown being a lead-in for Bellator would put more eyes on Bellator. They also feel that the station’s average would be higher with SmackDown and Main Event (and possibly NXT) on Spike.

Thoughts?

What about TNA? Would they fuck over TNA like they did ECW to bring in WWE? Didn't Viacom/WWE have a nasty falling out when they dropped all WWE programming?

Who the fuck cares? TNA sucks, and Viacom probably knows WWE will= more money for them than TNA will.

And once the ink is dry on that deal, Vince will buy TNA for chump change.

Probably means the end for them unless they were to quickly find another tv station by then.

Probably not considering they've funded and promoted TNA a lot more than they ever did with ECW.

Vince should buy TNA and put them on Saturdays or something.

Why do you people want TNA to fail so bad? It gives wrestlers jobs they would otherwise not have, and they also give an alternative to the current WWE product. Not saying it's an better or hell, even an equal alternative, but an alternative none the less. Doesn't make much sense too me. The more wrestling the better, and now with WWE performance centre, they will be generating robots that all do the same crap, so let's all hope TNA fails so we have no choice but to watch the crap the performance centre brings out....

I'm not sure if I believe this story, but Viacom vying for the WWE is only a good thing for them. Maybe they will keep both WWE and TNA and have them almost compete against each other on different nights? It might up TNA's game.

Didn't Spike used to be TNN? The very same TNN that dumped RAW so that USA Network could snap it back up???

yes, but they also paid a shitton for Raw in 2000.

And yet will get ripped off at the same time.

I'm sure he'll make the money back on a Best of Sting DVD and/or a Best of the Dudleys.

Maybe Spike TV could offer the WWE a new show spot on their network? It'd be hard to work, but maybe they could tape it on Tuesday with SmackDown?
