Yesterday I went to three concerts that are part of the Royal Northern College of Music's The Art of Bach Festival. Pretty good.

Next month I'm going to see a flutist (flautist).

In terms of bands, I'm thinking of seeing Clutch in April, but, thus far, I'm not sure who I will be seeing this year.

Seen Trivium last year, but want to hear them out with their new album/sound. Killswitch is always a must go for me when they come around.

Lamb of God and DevilDriver are on my hit list

not fussed either way about Trivium but they're co-headlining with Killswitch so I'll "pay attention". Saw Lamb of God a few months back, have to go again. Been meaning to see DevilDriver a while, never got round to it 'til now.

.

Back in 98 or 99 saw Starship open for Kansas at the country fair. Starship was horrible. No idea if this is true, but someone told me only the keyboard player was an original member. Kansas was ok.

Don't fall into the trap. A band like the Pixies don't(and they didn't) play new material; most shows are a celebration of near 30 years of music. A replacement may hinder newer material, but for a veteran outfit it does t matter because they play their standards live and that's exactly what stand-ins/replacements excel at.

I always like to use Metallica as an example. Since Newstead(or even Clif Burton for old school curmudgeons) moved on Metallica's material has been awful, and that's being generous. Rob Trujillo just doesn't work seemingly. But after seeing them live, the band knows better. St. Anger, Death Magnetic, Load and most of Re-Load are ignored due to the fact that fans don't like them and they are artistically and creatively inferior. They play what the fans want and Trujillo doesn't fuck it up. For another example look at RHCP.

it's in 2 weeks. Seen them before tho and yeah, the live shows are a great/a lot of fun. Only liked the first album, just going for the show they put on itself as opposed to the music

gonna go to this May Bank Holiday. Couldn't care less about any of the bands other than Caliban but it's a fun excuse to wander around town to a bunch of different venues all day whilst on the piss. Maybe they'll add somebody else alright between now and then, Cancer Bats got added like 3 weeks before last years, Cancer Bats so who knows

Saw steel panther. Dunno if csl saw them in Wolverhampton but if so the band say we totally shat over you as a crowd, and I've never known a band to blow smoke up an audiences arse.

Srsly though, was fun. We went spontaneously and managed to buy the tickets that sold out the gig. I am a champ.

I saw the Dum Dum Girls when I was in Copenhagen and I didn't really think much of them as a live band, though I think the bassist was ridiculously attractive. They are playing in Manchester in May and I have been considering whether to give them another try.
