From the front page:

Rey Mysterio reportedly suffered a knee injury at the Tuesday night tapings for SmackDown in Ontario, California.

During a Fatal 4 Way match with Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston, and Mark Henry, it appeared Mysterio landed badly on his knee and immediately rolled out of the ring. He pulled his pants leg up, removed a knee brace that protects his left knee and appeared to be in a great deal of pain.

More as we get it.

Right now its still speculation about this latest injury, but he's gotta end it! Rey is over with the fans and sells a ton of merchandise to the kiddies, and that's great. But, the dude's knees are shot. How many injuries has he had and how much time has he missed in the last few years? Maybe its my memory playing tricks but it seems like he'll go 6-8 months being out and then get injured within 6-8 weeks of being back.

You don't need rocket appliances to know when its time to hang 'em up.

Am I crazy here???

Pretty sure everyone must feel the same way. He hasn't even had a meaningful storyline since forever, what with all the time he spends on the shelf.

Love Rey Mysterio, guy's a legend of the sport, had so many great matches, broke so many barriers etc, and seems like a nice guy in real life, but his style has really taken it's toll on him and yeah, I think he needs to know when to hang 'em up. :(

I'm kinda meh to him, mostly because I hate the 619 sooooooooo much.

Anyway yea its time or him to let go maybe take a job as an on air personality instead he hasn't been interesting to me since his WCW days and lets face it dudes gotten fat.

Mark Henry should probably wrap it up, too.

Has he done anything significant storylinewise since the time he 619'ed Cody in the face?

Is this more father time or anything to do with roids? Him getting fat was in tune with him trying to bulk up and going on roid cycles in the wwe. In Wcw dude was never hurt and fit. But was that only because he was younger?

Rey retiring would be the last full time wrestler to ever compete in ECW.

Okay so I'm not the only one thinking this. I mean there are Rey haters out there, I am not one of them. I like Rey. But jesus, he's hurt every other Tuesday!

UPDATE: Rey Mysterio’s recent injury at Tuesday’s SmackDown taping may not be as serious as previously thought. WWE’s internal injury report was released and Mysterio was not among the names listed.

I think his time is running thin. At one point, you could easily argue he was their number 2 guy in the company, but sustaining so many subsequent injuries have left him meaningless. He's lost virtually all steam, and he can't do any programs because he's constantly injured.

Time to hang them up, unfortunately. It's a shame the Sin Cara character tanked as bad as it has. Seeing a mask v mask moment at Mania with Rey losing could have been an awesome sight. Oh well.

Would he get away with a Taker style part-time deal where he only comes back for Mania (or SummerSlam)? Seems like they'd be better off bringing him back in the weeks prior to that/those events so he'd at least last through the 2 biggest shows of the year. Hopefully.

Probably not and I think they've tried something similar either last year or the year before with the rumored Cara vs Mysterio Mania match.

Sun Cara would have to benefit from months of meaningful matches and a sustained push in order for a part time role for Rey to work. If that were to happen, it would have to be next year. Not enough time st the moment to build Sin Cara up enough.

Used to love Rey, but he's become RVD pretty much. Rarely see any thing new from him. Same spots, and match formula every week. While those spots may be exciting, they lose their luster after the hundredth time seeing them.
